more importantly, why would you want to? http://www.cspinet.org/quorn/ Rather that than horsemeat. Also, the article talks about it causing allergic reactions - like a lot of other foods so just a bit sensationalist me thinks. I have to carry an epipen for food that I'm allergic too.

Maybe looking at different schools would help. Maybe dess or Desc as they have a lot of emirates kids and are cheaper than the gems school. I would say 30k for a family of 5 would be too tight for my liking, especially as this includes housing.

this is not a pay cheque to pay cheque country And yet, circumstance has meant that it has become such a country by default. The expat who gets all the big bills paid by their company and can afford to save a large chunk of their salary is now the exception, not the rule. There are many people here who still want the old expat in Dubai, flash lifestyle, which comes with a price tag And can you blame them, given that Dubai deliberately markets itself as the place where you can live a luxury tax-free lifestyle you can't afford in your own country? Seriously, how many people would want to live here if they weren't experiencing a significantly improved lifestyle? Why else would you choose to go to a country where you had virtually no legal rights, where most things were artificial rather than natural and where the weather for a large chunk of the year was brutally hot and humid? "Come to Dubai, live in a small apartment, run a cheap second-hand car and don't indulge the luxury lifestyle" - yeah, that'll work as a marketing strategy rethink. edited by Madge_Gustard on 01/09/2013 That is where I stand. No one is blind sighted. Everyone is aware of the marketing of the lifestyle, if they buy into it, whose fault is it? Nothing is hidden, it is all transparent (that the lifestyle is marketed, that debt unpaid is criminal etc), so if someone dies not heed this, then why should the government go out if their way to make amends for that? AE is prod if their country an generally do believe in this lifestyle. Summer breeze, I agree! But with all of the backlash when things go wrong, AE just sits in the tags if other countries for being the bad ones who came down on someone who 'hit tough times'. A levy or security sum would create jobs (for inplemntation), would give ever expat a residence gratuity, and would give small stipends to the country for thise who do run away. If 5% of your salary was in an account assignable to you when you leave and you were aware of it when applying for a job, youdbqreange your finances around this. I have a problem with keeping money here, especially as it is dh who works. Frozen bank accounts and no interest (not that it is high at home at the moment, but every little counts).

Or, maybe the government sets up a program similar to superannuation that docks a percent of wages, all returned when leaving. That would be a forced savings and a security for the country, so if in debt this can be accessed. edited by AmyAus82 on 01/09/2013 But why should people like myself be penalised? I have no debts anywhere on the world. Mortgage was paid off years ago, cars paid for using cash, credit cards paid in full when used, savings in the bank. Why should people in my position have enforced savings because other people cannot or will not live within their means? I know I'm probably in the minority but still.....

I bought my dog a fairly expensive dog bed - he wouldn't go near it. So I bought a double quilt from ikea, folded it in 2, made a cover from a cheap sheet to make it easier to clean & he loves it. Whole cost was around 35aed.

I stayed at a place called Villa Sonia a few years ago. And having stayed in lots of hotels across the world, I still have fond memories of this one. Beautiful setting and lovely staff. I remember one night it was raining so hard that we couldn't go to the restaurant that we liked just up the road, so they got us a menu and then collect the food and served it on the terrace. http://www.villasoniaubud.com/

Sorry to gatecrash this thread. We recently moved here and are starting to think about holidays. Could you tell me how you go about booking please? Do you use an agent or what websites do you recommend? Thank you in advance. I just do it myself on the Internet - far more fun than walking into an agent. I use skyscanner.net to find cheap flights and booking.com to find hotels (although not exclusively - these are just the ones I use most).

Again not specifically answering the question, but get the husband to apply for the divorce at the Sharia Council as I am led to believe that they make things way more difficult if the woman applies.

When you take the dog out for their walk take the maid with you. After a couple of times get the maid to hold the lead. Also get the maid to help with feeding the dog. Get the maid to put the food in the bowl and you put the bowl down, then the next step would be to let the maid put the food down.

I am very disappointed by the lack of empathy on here. The poor girl should have gotten in despite not meeting the targets set out by the school and having been given numerous warnings simply because she is obviously special. Her mum has obviously drilled that into her long enough - rules are for other people not her 'pretty' little pumpkin. Anyway, nice to see that the benefits stretched to buy her a prom dress made by the only blind designer in the UK.

I am contemplating a career change and considering going back to the books. I am originally from Oz & wonder if anyone has any experience in studing teaching from abroad or any suggestions on where I could start...? TIA If you already have a degree you could consider a PGCE which is a one year full time course in the UK. I believe the University of Sunderland offers it here. Or some Oz unis offer a postgrad diploma which I think is a two year full time course. Both these would allow to teach. <em>edited by summer breeze on 10/07/2013</em>

My husband just emailed me about this (he's a lawyer in the UK) and he reckons that Saatchi has had really bad legal advice . He said you can only plead unreasonable behaviour if it is truly unreasonable. Whether Nigella consents to the divorce is irrelevant as there is no such thing as divorce on demand. The petition should be thrown out and she should be told that if she wants a divorce she should petition him for unreasonable behaviour . Said he was his solicitor he certainly wouldn't not have advised him to petition on those grounds! Come to think of it I wish he was his solicitor....I quite fancy the fees from this one! Oh yes I think only the legal teams will be the winners in this. What amazed me was he said"we are tactile". Great so next time someone annoys me and I punch them, my defence will be "I'm a tactile person!". Millionaire moron.... <em>edited by summer breeze on 07/07/2013</em>

I would be sorely tempted to load the rubbish into the car and take half to the real estate agents office and dump it on her desk and then take the other half to the brothers house and dump it on his doorstep. Not very practical solution, but it would give me great satisfaction if I could actually do it......

If its a proper formal (tuxedo/ball gown) event then a corsage is nice. If its more of a leaving diner (cocktail dress and suit) then a small bunch of flowers if he is picking her up from home would be a lovely touch.

Don't think you'll get very far or if you do, not very much. Look at the poor girl in AD who sustained serious injuries in a hotel and they are life threatening, not just minor cuts to the foot. My advice would be to move on, accidents happen. edited by summer breeze on 12/06/2013 i know, that girl in AD is a different case. i just want this store to learn a lesson. they seemed very lax on everything and i want them to realize that even though its a minor wound, they should also do follow up on those who are injured at there store. Maybe just don't frequent the store again?

But fortunately we don't live in a society that is full of ambulance chasing lawyers nor is it a cash bash society. Not everything is worthy of a law suit. And a cut foot, come on. Sounds like op is making a meal out of it with her sleepless nights and trauma.
