I might not be the best person for this because I stopped feeding fairly early. I did have trouble stopping though. Found that even though I didn't have a lot when I pumped, it still leaked like h3ll if I didn't. The advice my LC gave me was to drop one feed/pump a week. I did that. And it didn't always take a week to regulate but sometimes it did leak for a few days straight. I never tried cold turkey because its supposed to be painful if you get blocked ducts infections etc. So I'd say pick the one where you have the least yield (if that applies) and drop that. Then drop another the next week and you should be good to go before your holidays. If you do have pain (and I did) the OB said to take a warm shower and hand express a little only for comfort. And take an ibuprofen for the pain/inflammation (it works out of system in 6 hours so should be fine for next feed anyway if you're comfortable with that). Hope that helps some.

You can order it from babyandme.com Its a local baby stuff website. Quite good through I had one service issue with them (delivery delay). Bought something else there and they sent me a promo for this.

I tried a fair few M and none of them seemed to work for me. The only thing I saw dramatic results with was La Prairie - the cellular recovery revitalizing eye gel (the light blue gel). It really brightened up my eyes and reduced to almost nothing the bags and fine creping I was starting to get. Its expensive but I'm a fan. Suggest if you can get it from Dubai Duty free, then do. About a 100 AED cheaper there than outside from what I remember. About AED 500 in duty free, but I used it twice a day for a month or so and then only once because i'd forget. Lasted about 5 months or more. You don't need much.

Only got text ones. A friend on mine went to get it done. Says they have a choice of fonts there (images too I believe). You can have them lay it out for you, review and they print it off there. If you want an image (particularly a photo) you would probably either need a medium resolution file or a print out that is quite clear because what they do is a digital print and doesn't require the highest resolution. Maybe call Mercato and ask for the number of the store so you can cross check with them? Don't remember the name, sorry.

In the basement at Mercato there is a Tshirt printing place. pretty sure the other malls have them too. But this one I know for sure. Customised onesies are about 75. <em>edited by susandiaz on 21/04/2012</em>

I had severely dry skin during my pregnancy. Especially my tummy. 2 things worked for me. One was an emollient cream the OB prescribed called Lipobase. It was quite heavy though for regular application in the summer part of my preg. Another one I got from the pharmacy. It was called Shika I think. Its a natural cream. A green bottle/tube. I thought it wasn't the pleasant-est smell. But it helped hugely so I just masked it with something else.

I have used dr. Browns since day one and always used the advent sterilizer.Just take the top tray off and You should be fine, assuming we have the same steriliser Thats what I do as well. Have the Avent Digital and use it with the top tray off. You can fit in a few less this way but still works fine for us.

Practically, I'd say there would be a lot of Oman at any rate that you'd be unable to get to. Like the coastal road with the beautiful beaches. The turtle beach. A lot of the musandam peninsula etc. Some of Jebel Shams. These are must-go camping areas that you wouldn't be able to get to without doing some serious damage to a non 4 wheel drive. Wouldn't advice it if its your own car :D

I thought 2 weeks was long too, but Cecile did say an average of 10 days. And a month in a lot of cases because you have to progress slower for some kids. Yes, I've stopped all plans for now because of the illness. Spoke to C as well and she completely agreed. I still put her in her bed and patted her. She likes that. She has made tonnnnnss of progress in the 2 weeks though. Earlier, she would go to sleep with rocking and shushing and patting on a pillow on my lap. And wake up anywhere from twice (on a good night) to six times a night. Started suddenly at 4 months till when she was a brilliant sleeper and I did whatever I could to get her to sleep - making many mistakes. And in the few weeks before we went to C, she would take ages to sleep because she couldn't get comfortable. Too big to be held and rocked comfortably i guess. So would cry and squirm and generally take up to an hour and then be up in half hour! And we'd do over. From THAT, we've come to a max of one wake up and even then she goes off to sleep on her own if i give her 5-10 monites (no crying) unless she's hungry in which case she finds a way to tell me. *knocks on wood* And, she goes straight off to sleep in 10-15 minutes max with no crying for the rest of her sleeps. Its just the night for the past few. Thats probably why C thinks its going very well and we should keep at it after she gets better. Working hard on the time thing. Did the early bath today. No crankies :D! Took a long time for her to sleep but thats because of the illness. Needed lots of cuddling. Thanks for the advice DC much appreciated!

How old is your LO? Both my two tend to end up yelling when it's time to get dressed for bed if they're overtired, so maybe if you're starting the whole routine when she's already past the happy awake time she might be getting upset because she's too far gone? Good point DC, thanks a ton. She's 8 months old. Did try putting her to bed an hour earlier the other day and she wasn't impressed but I guess just not sleepy enough that day and she took a long time so reverted. Her sleepy signs have been erratic lately and I haven't been very good at getting them. In the day its easier because when i do see them I just grab and go. But at bedtime theres a process. So maybe I'll move the bath etc a little away from bedtime and put in some quiet playtime (Cecile did say to do some more fun stuff at bedtime to keep her calmer). Plus, went to the paed today because her tummy was off since yesterday. Turns out she has a multisystem virus with that and a sore throat etc. So I'm guessing thats part of the problem. So going to do whatever she needs till she's better for a bit. Been searching on here and saw a lot of people say 3-4 days and its been way longer for us, so wondering if I was doing something wrong.

My DD is 9 1/2 months old and we had a check up with her doc last week and I asked this exact question. In our case, DD loves solids - can't get enough of them and her diet is varied - chicken, beef, veal, lamb, tuna, turkey, salmon etc with all sorts of fruits and vegetables. She also has yoghurt and cheese. I mention her diet as the doc said babies with varied diets will be less interested in milk by this age. Although it is important to ensure a 9 month old gets milk, the doc said she is getting enough nutrients and vitamins from her other foods. She is on about 600ml per day and takes three solid meals with snacks in between. Hi Susan - have you tried diluting the purees with your DD's milk? We started with very milky purees which might help? Hi M... yes tried mixing in with milk. She didn't like it at that stage. Seemed to prefer straight up, and had a good spell for 2-3 week in between. Now its back to spitting everything except the occasional biscuit and piece of other finger food. Maybe I'll try milky purees again and see if there's any look.

My favorite is the one at Royal Mirage that you've mentioned. And I have tried several other places. What I like about it is the communal 'hamam' feel. Though its probably not a good idea if you're shy :D. They use the black soap (though its dissolved and you get the soap water put on). Nice steam rooms (with a bottle of cold water halfway :)). Proper brass urns and mugs for water and little stools. The ladies are morrocan mostly as well. Ends with moroccan tea, dates and perfume of your choice dabbed on if you like. They have variations from about 300-600 depending on what you add on to the basic. The Dubai Ladies Club one is a good option but not as spectacular in my opinion. They do have vouchers in the Entertainer Body book for well worth it for half price :)

Ooooo Niccy good one. Don't have any advice for you but i'd be interested in hearing views too. Mine just turned 8 months and has about 800ml (27 ounces) most days. In smaller bottles though because she was a refulx-er and prefers smaller meals. She really isn't a good eater of solids. I've tried everything to get her to eat, Tried purees and the BLW route but she just doesn't seem interested. She'll eat some finger foods off our plates (I cheat and put some baby friendly stuff :D). But its literally 2 nibbles and bored. So i still keep mealtimes and offer her something but don't overdo it. Tried cutting back milk so she'll be hungry but that doesn't work either, she just goes without and wakes at night for milk. And based on what I've read for the first year, milk is primary nutrition and the rest is just to explore and learn to eat which she's doing; but very slowly. So decided not to stress. Is that ok? Is there something I should be doing differently like sticking to the cutting of milk etc? *confused*

I got canvas stretched/framed at a store in Karama. On the same road as the fish market (opposite the Aati store there). Sorry forgot the name of the store but its on the market line. They did several pieces for me at a very reasonable price and they look great. About 2/3 the price of even Satwa and much less than the ones in malls. There are a few on that line. Any one of them is good actually (I have had mine done at different stores at different times). Try to negotiate if its several frames too. I did and got a better price.

and what do you think? Its was well worth it last year as far as I'm concerned primarily because of the hair and nails offers which is what I used largely. But from a quick look it seems like a lot of the people from the last book are missing - particularly the bigger nail places. Plus its 350 as against 250 last year. Still worth it overall?

Had a few questions... but they're all on here from other ladies that you've answered :) Didn't know it was possible to DIY... can i ask do we do it the same way as the salon? Apply product and iron? And does it need any specific pretreatment - when i've done it at salons, they've washed and conditioned etc with something that they said was part of the process.

I live in the Greens, and have a small living room.. Need some advice from someone with interior decoration experience. (can't afford a professional right now!) I lived in the greens in a 2+study type. It was quite small but we skipped the dining table in favor of a breakfast bar type seating at the kitchen counter so that opened it up some. If you have the same type, fairly bold colors work because of the full wall of windows which lets in lovely light, especially if you're pool facing. I had a dark red and orange scheme. Used a red and gold striped wallpaper on the foot of the L (adjacent to the kitchen). And Orange on the long wall. Used neutral cream/almost beige on the other walls and very neutral curtains to balance it. We had dark brown sofas too so quite heavy in terms of colour but it worked.

For putting baby to sleep at an angle... we used the books as well as the wedge but found often she slid down to the bottom of the bed (especially with he books and post about 8 weeks or so when she had some movement). Later found something like this http://www.babystayasleep.com/products/ in baby shop which a friend used and recommends - its about AED 60. But my daughter was nearly 4 months then and it would've been small. May be worth a shot.

Tummy sleeping helped mine. Of course, when she was very young, we didn't put her down on her tummy, I'd just put her on a feeding pillow on my lap and leave her there for as long as she would sleep (which wasn't much). She hated tummy time otherwise though. :\: The other thing that worked, especially after she went on the bottle, was little and often (though now that's still the only way she can feed which is a bit of a pain). When I was BFing her I'd feed her for shorter periods of time.

I used Rapeseed Oil on DD which worked brilliantly. It cured her dry skin very quickly. A midwife at Healthbay recommended it. Ooooo where can I get that Pancake? We use Mustela (a combination of stelatopia and the regular stuff because my daughter has really dry skin). Works great and is not as expensive as it first looks because it lasts for ages. The baby wash we got lasted for about 4 months of everyday baths and is about AED 60. The shampoo is still going strong, about a third left, and its been 7 months of alternate day washes. Again more or less the same price. We've used about 2 tubes/bottles of moisturizer in the same time - same price (stelatopia is 75). So that should give you an idea. Also tried the Bioderma ABC range. The wash is quite nice though I find the smell a bit strong (its meant to be natural). I got extra virgin coconut oil from Organics in Dubai Mall. ETA: Also for baby wipes, though I don't use it much, we have the Sebamed ones. Get a 2 or 3 pack deal in Union Coop and Lulu. For diapers we went with Huggies organic for when she was tiny and then Pampers Premium. Only one rash episode (knocks wood) when we used regular pampers for a few days. That doesn't seem to agree with her. Now we've switched to huggies regular because i find the absorbency better and there's no leaks. For diaper rash, Bepanthen cleared it right up. Now I just put some on preemptively when she has any redness. We use Sudocreme for barrier when she started sleeping longer. Its controversial but works for us :D <em>edited by susandiaz on 25/03/2012</em>

Hi Susandiaz - thanks for posting that list, it's really helpful. I have some questions. When you say bring passport and proof of visa - is that the baby's documents or can I use my pasport and visa? We haven't had her visa processed yet (still waiting on passport) but her two month jabs are due in two weeks. I have a healthcard for myself but not the baby yet. Basically can I get her vaccinations done at the gov clinic using my healthcard or does she need her own seperate one? Thanks again! She needs her own. You have to have her visa processed too. My DD was late for her 2 month vaccines because we were waiting for her visa. Yes she does need her own unfortunately - visa proof and then healthcard. We did our baby's 2 month vaccines privately for this reason. Cost a bunch but we decided to go that route. Alternatively I've known people who waited and didn't do it exactly at the 2 month mark. BTW to get your baby's visa across the counter, its possible to go to DNRD and submit it yourself (you or your husband depending on who the sponsor is). My husbands PRO told him that (if the PROs do it it takes a lot longer apparently). So he went and submitted the papers himself at about 7 one evening and was out for there, with the stamped visa, by 8!

I'm hardly one of the seasoned ones :D but here's a few things I did: - Took more than I needed and ended up bringing back a lot. Depending on where you are going decide on things like the pram - if you're going home, try to borrow one because here at the airport emirates gives you strollers with a hygiene cover so its easy to use from 3 months on. We also took a baby carrier which helped hugely. - I took a lot of clothes on board in our hand luggage including an extra set for me and my husband in case of accidents. Oh and lots of wipes please... we ran out after a giant poo incident and they didn't have any. Thankfully we didn't need any after that. - Mothercare has a box sterilizer for 50 AED which helps hugely because you can use it in a microwave for bottles and pump (if you pump/use bottles that is). Also pigeon has sterilizer tablets. - Booked a bassinet in advance. Theres no guarantee but it helps if you have it on your ticket ahead of time. - Airport security very easy in Dubai, noone asks any questions. Not so in some other airports. Some are easy in that they'll let you go without trouble and some want to check everything. - I put baby into a full footed zipper one piece for travel. kept her comfortably warm in the AC and was easy on off. Thats all i can think of... hope that helps

We did it in August last year at Medcare with Dr. Yuliya Mikhael and Biovault. They give you the kit in advance and you take it to the babes birth and hand it over to the nurses/midwife on duty. The way we looked at it was that its like insurance, you hope like h3ll you don't have to use it, its expensive and not entirely worth it if you look at it as a lump sum, but what if.... Costs about 13,000 for 25 years storage if i remember correctly so thats just over 500 when you break it down, so we went for it. In terms of the process, your OB does the procedure, its not invasive in that you don't feel it at all. They cut a section of your cord at the same time that its detached from the baby - so really its just one extra cut and a clamp. To the best of my knowledge it doesn't involve the placenta at all, only the cord. Some view this as taking away blood that would've gone through to the baby, but you have to weigh it up and decide I guess. As a procedure here anyway they don't let the cord pulse unless you specially request it in your birth plan.
