I bought mine online and s&s'd it but I think DD was already too old for the concept, tried it on DS and he does not get it and now happily sleeps 12 hours anyway so in total used it 2 or 3 nights tops! Happy to sell. If you are interested, post your email and I'll be in touch.

I used to like Clarins for skincare but for the past 7 years have only been using Christian Dior and will keep using it for as long as I can afford it. It does go quite far, so well worth it!! Just checked, and although I have quite a few of their products, the Capture Total seem to te the one I use the most for skincare. edited by SweetSugar123 on 12/01/2013

I have been using the physiotherapist at Welcare in Ibn Battuta since last Oct and I can honestly say, my back is sooo much better. Her name is Robyn. You need to see the doctor there first who will recommend an appointment with her so that the insurance will cover your physio sessions. She is brilliant, a no nonsense kind of girl and knows exactly what she's doing and she has taught me some great exercises that I do whenever I feel pain setting in. Good luck x

Hey Beebers / weight loss guru :) Sorry to use this thread as a sort of diet and exercise workshop but it seems the EW love your advice on weight loss and working out lol! Sooo - what would you advise for me to lose weight on my tum after a C sec. I am nearly at my 6 week appointment when I can start exercising again and have already lost 10kgs (I gained 15kgs during the pregnancy and about 9 - 10kgs has gone). I have the last 5kgs to go which is pretty much ALL on my stomach and a bit on hips. DH is actually upset my big pregnant bum has gone lol! Oh and I'd say I'm carrying at least 1 extra kg each per b00b! So I need to sort the doughy tummy out. I am a runner so will be starting that up again (poss 3 - 4 x per week, some short and a few long runs say between 5km - 15km each time), but what specifically can I do to shift the wobbly stomach. It is not a good look. Thanks!!! :) ps - Sweetsugar, well done that is amaze balls! Thanks DB and good luck! The dreaded mummy tummy hey, but dont worry it will go. Only 5kg to go 6 weeks post birth, now THAT is amaze balls.

Beebers, wanted to update you...been following paleo, similar to what you noted below and I used some of the great recipes on this site (http://www.paleoplan.com/recipes/) and managed to shift 1.5kg since Sunday. It's slow I know but ANY loss is great for me so I am soldiering on. I did not manage to get the shake as I did not have time to venture all the way to Dubai Mall on Saturday but its on the plan for this weekend. So far so good ;) SS that's awesome!! :D yay! You can get that brand nearly anywhere. I buy mine in JBR these days. 1.5kg is great. There are always diminishing returns with fat loss, so I would expect if you have been following plan you should have lost that. The next week may be the same and the next week less. On the weeks where you follow plan and don't lose, be patient. You may simply be holding water due to hormones, not getting enough sleep, whatever. Keep it up and love to hear it! Good for you!!!!! Thanks Beebers, I am excited to see it through. I need a good 10kg weightloss in total to look and feel good in my clothes again. As of today 63kg ;) Just need to get the exercise going now....

If you are a senior strategic person, you will find something. It's the transactional positions that are a dime a dozen...If he does not have any HR experience, he would have to start at the bottom as a Coordinator or Generalist. I agree to differ, i work on senior strategic roles weekly and there are hundreds of candidates from all backgrounds looking The lower level candidates with only a few years experience in the UAE are the hardest to find. Hmm, not sure. I get calls about available positions almost weekly. Maybe it depends on your industry experience.

I like the area but it is not as established or has facilities like the meadows and lakes for example (or as green). In fact it was the price for the size of house you could get that was attractive. If the prices are now so much higher, it cancels other things out, if you know what I mean. Good luck bamboo and michamen.

I think when you state a preferred nationality in a job advertisement your stating a wish for a particular mentality or way of thinking, not a skin colour. We did this when we were hiring the staff for our son. We knew what kind of cultural background/exposure/way of thinking we wanted the person to have so we only interviewed our preferred nationality in the key roles. If a company only wants certain nationalities to apply for a job I would assume its for the same kind of reasons. Very true!

150 for 3 bed townhouse? They were charging less for 4 bed villas a few months ago. Sad, once again a matter of supply vs demand. I cannot believe people are being greedy again with pushing up rents the way it was before. It appears they have short memories. The townhouses are nice though but we preferred the villas. Wonder what that's going for now!

July/August would be rather hot, but then again, not as hot as Dubai! Like Chizz said, HUGE spring break getaway. I went in 92 for Spring Break and it was great :) We started off in Merida, and had a more "cultural" experience. Then we drove through the ruins at Uxmal, which was incredible. We also went to Chichen Itza ruins on the way to Cancun. I couldn't imagine a trip to Mexico without seeing ruins--they are fascinating. I've never been but many of my friends rave of Playa Del Carmen, and my Dad has gone to Cabo San Lucas numerous times for deep sea fishing. I also have to add (sorry) be careful when deciding where to go in Mexico. It is quite dangerous to veer too much off the beaten path these days. It's not like when I was a teen and a small group of us went alone and painted the town red. x Great, thanks Beebers, that gives me some other options to look at too. Sounds like you had a ball...oh to be young and free again ;)

There is no denying that Cancun is touristy ( compared to other parts of Mexico) but it is a great place - all kinds of shops, restaurants, hotels etc . It is cheap to rent a car and there are some great things to do locally e.g.[b'> Xcaret.[/b'> (Easy to get about in Cancun too.) http://www.xcaret.com/ Check it out - it is FAB for kids. Loads to do and see!Look at their website. As regards, temples and ruins there is Tulum ( with native displays, market, restaurants etc) which is one of the most stunning from a location point of view- right on the sea- and also Coba ( out in the jungle, very quiet) which are nearer but not on the same lavish scale as Chichen Itza. Depends on how far you want to travel and the age of your children. Isla Mujeres is another lovely day out - very relaxing. http://isla-mujeres.net/generalinfo.htm It's not hot compared to here and the sea is as blue as can be. Loved it . There are many time share type places eg we have stayed at the Royal resorts http://www.royalresorts.com/ but also the JW Marriott is fab..amazing lobster all you can eat evening. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/cunjw-jw-marriott-cancun-resort-and-spa/ Hope this helps. Wow, this is great and very helpful! Thanks so much SM for taking the time to respond in so much detail. Will be going through all the links now :)

This is strange as its just so cheeaaap but I really like new look for jeans, they have all shapes and sizes. I usually get bootcut there and I love the forever 21 skinny jeans. The fabric is really thin, so light enough to wear in this weather but not crappy thin. Really comfy, cant believe they so cheap (ie. not expensive) lol!

Great Beebers, thanks so much! I am off to dr nutrition tomorrow! I will get DH to read he thread...he is on his own mission now so I dont want to pressurise him to go with what I'm doing unless he really wants to. He lost a shed load of weight on the dukan approx 18 months ago but put it all back on and has finally said enough is enough so I kind of want him to carve his own plan. He is also a massive red meat eater thats why dukan worked well for him. I, like you, am sick of the red meat and I really like chicken and fish, so all good :) This suits me to a T, so I am going to start on Sunday and keep you posted! Lastly, what type of exercise do you combine with this?

This is fab! I am a structured person so like it all laid out for me and will then be good and follow to the T, thanks so much :) So I will be following this and see how it goes! I have a few Q's for the shopping list...what is psyllium husk powder and where do I buy it? I am not a fan of protein shakes but will give this one a go, in all honesty does it taste vile? Where do you buy it? Does it have to be dory fillet or will any type of fish do? I ask because maybe some may be too fatty? P.S. I can do boring as long as I know it work and of course its not forever ;)

Thanks for the clarification Beebers. I need to read up a bit more. I am going to look at the body for life as well. DH actually has the book thats been collecting dust on the shelf! I am definitely not at the maintenance part yet, I want to lose weight, so need something that will give me results in that area, however saying that, I do want something thats sustainable and good overall. Sick to death of the fads. Do you have a rough idea of a typical 1 or 2 week eating plan? Googled but maybe you have something thats specifically tried and trusted? Thanks for taking the time to respond Beebers. You are always so helpful on this topic!

Hi Neno, I am probably going to give you the least exciting advice ever, but here it is. The magic is adherence to a proper diet program, and I mean 100% commitment to it. Do you have a dietician at the gym, or a nutritionist there that can write a program for you? Exercise is fine and great, but keep an eye on that as well. You've only been working out a month, have you noticed any real changes in your physique? (not just weight on the scale, but are your clothes looser?) Make sure you [i'>push [/i'>yourself in the gym as long as you don't have any injuries. I have been a "fitness freak" since 2007, but I know where you are at, and trust me when I say, nothing gets rid of belly fat other than eating clean. Abdominal exercises will help strengthen your core, but unless you lose fat, you'll never see the effects. I have always yo-yo'd with my weight, but ballooned up to a staggering 102 kilos in January 2010 after 2 abdominal surgeries kept me out of the gym. I couldn't heal, couldn't work out, and ate a ton of junk, and boom, looked like I was carrying twins. I started doing cross fit, and walking, but the weight only changed significantly in March 2010 when I was honest with myself--that my diet wasn't as good as it could be. When I made that commitment, I dropped to 72 kilos in 6 months time. The weight only dropped when I followed my diet plan 100% to the tee. If you don't know how to eat clean, or don't want to hire a nutritionist, I think the Paleo diet (which is not really a diet but a lifestyle) is a good start, and not detrimental to your health. You can buy a book to learn the principles, and most people find it is convenient and can even follow it when going out to eat. Good luck x Edited to add: you may also want to check out the book "Body for Life" by Bill Phillips. That was the first book I ever bought when I got into health and fitness. Teaches you how to eat clean, and has guidelines on how to structure your exercise program. A lot of people use that as a starting point, and it works! It is less restrictive on food groups than Paleo, also. edited by Beebers on 03/01/2013 Beebers, have you lost any weight on the Paleo diet? I read it says, weight loss is a bonus, not necessarily guaranteed. Its pro's are more to keep you disease free. True? edited by SweetSugar123 on 03/01/2013

It's a good initiative and hats off to them, my two although much younger thinks as long as you have a bank card you have access to endless amounts of money! Look forward to teaching them the value of money in a few years. However as a parent I would limit it to friends houses only, definitely not all and sundry in the neighborhood, just not safe to do so even in Dubai.

I once read about an exercise where you keep your lower body still, hold handweights (approx 2kg in each hand) and move your arms (together) side to side (both arms together to the left and then again together to the right). Do it in front of the mirror and you can see the muscles contracting and you can really feel it. I still do it up to this day and it really works. Hope that's clear, lol!

Infacol is good. Also try lukewarm mint water. Use hot water and let it cool down and remove the mint as it may get too bitter and sweeten it just a little bit if she doesnt want to take it. It's great for gas. Have you considered her milk may be the problem? It was with my DS and as soon as I switched his milk the gas reduced dramatically.

Coincidence much?? I also got a text this afternoon about the salon opening. Marketing working overtime? I dont get why people do this as it discredits immediately, in my eyes anyway. I have been to the JBR branch and it is very good, so really no need to do this. Let your reputation, by word of mouth, speak for itself. My 2 cents worth ;)

Sorry, I'm sure this has been asked before, but with the I Phone 5, if you manage to get the micro sim, how do you pay for the calls? can you do prepaid and can you get the data package...? just debating which phone to get for Christmas...! The data package is seen as an addition, so I think you have to choose postpaid and then take the data package as well. The postpaid package I took is AED99 (with quite a few free minutes and sms's) and the data package is another AED99. According to DH who already has an iphone, it will be more than sufficient. I get my 1st bill end of December so will be interesting to see how much I spent or have left to carry over.

I have had this done at the Nail Spa and its nice however I prefer the everlasting manicure. It lasts longer, is easier to remove (I hate all the nail filing with the biosculpture) and its better for your nails. I cant remember what I pay but think its worth it as it lasts 3 weeks without chipping. It just looks bad and needs re-doing because of the nail growth. edited by SweetSugar123 on 07/12/2012

This was great but in my opinion not wow. The kids enjoyed it but I feel it was overpriced looking at what their overheads probably were. The entire show had 3 actors with no costume changes, stage background changes etc. Also too much talking and too little singing and it was short, 45 mins in total.

We went last night and actually had a really nice time. We went after 5 pm so there were no queues and it wasn't that full. The ambience at night was nice as the lights were all on and the band was great. The weather was also really nice. I do think it's better to go to these type of events at night. There were a few Santa Grotto's. DD didnt like the first one and had a go at another one which was much better :) The collection of the pics was disappointing though and I eventually gave up and said I would collect from their studio.

Also been to both and love both but for a special occasion and ambience it has to be Thiptara. There were quite a few kids the last time we were at Pai Thai. DH and I intended for it to be a quite dinner, while our two were tucked up at home, but it was not to be! I have never seen kids at Thiptara and they have the lovely bar next door. Food wise, both excellent but If you have to choose a winner it would probably be Pai Thai (plus they give rice freely there ;))

DH and I are also having an "austerity Christmas" as we will have a newborn and he's only just started a new job so we're trying to save. It's nice to have lots of little things to open so I've bought him a couple of thoughtful books, an aftershave, a few bits of clothing and then little bits like a bag of Percy p*** I've saved from a trip to the UK, some bukhour for his car (he loves that stuff!) and a nice key ring. I was actually thinking of putting a bow on the baby as well looool! Or you could put a bow somewhere else...sorry couldn't resist! Naughty Beebers! Love the "Austerity Christmas" ha! I think it's just a little bit too early for that considering she would have just had her baby ;) Good luck TDB!

This may be a long shot but there's a lady from a recruitment company who sends people to dubai and as part of her services she collects their passports with their UAE visas inside from the embassy and couriers it to Dubai. She is based in JHB. I think she goes to the embassy at least once a week. You could contact her and even if she has none to collect at the moment, she is bound to know someone at the embassy or she could agree to do it for you for a fee. The company is called Calibre people and ask to speak to Moira. I dealt with her many moons ago but she is lovely and who knows may be able to help...

We enjoyed staying at the Dusit Thani Laguna in Phuket. Ticks all your boxes and it has a lovely kids club with activities planned for every day. Another one that I cannot fault is the JW Marriott in Phuket, brilliant for families and kids. The rooms are a bit on the expensive side however the holiday apartments are huge and so nice and very affordable. We stayed in a room last year and the apartment this year as we had a larger group and loved it. It is on the same grounds as the hotel, no separation whatsoever so you use all the same facilities.
