Hormones mess with your body sooo much. Unless there's a reason for you to be on something with added hormones, why not try the copper coil (not the mirena one) - hormone free, effective and you can then forget about it for about 5 years.

Hi OP, It only takes 40 minutes to get from Silicon Oasis to JLT in the morning, so from the Ranches it is about 15 minutes - take Khalima St, there is very little traffic even in rush hour and you just have to negotiate a few minutes on Hessa St on to Al Khail Road before you take Khalima St. Also, on your driving, some companies offer their employees a course of defensive driving lessons to get acclimatised to the driving style here. I think this is what you are looking for, one company which offers them is EDI. http://www.edi-uae.com/pagecontents.aspx?pageid=25

What sort of work are you looking for Jen? There are lots of opportunities here, just need to find the right people to speak to. It's nice to work here, there are so many different nationalities and cultures blended together in offices, it's a really nice experience and you definitely wouldn't be bored!

Sorry...don't get a minute to check EW at work! I did check the ceiling this morning for light-swaying (negative) as felt odd but I am not sure what time it was. Would have been between 9.30 and 11.30. Do you?!

Are you talking about a procedure called Lumber something or other, where the patient has the nerve deadened? It lasts about a year or so? I know someone who had it done in Healthcare City and it was very effective...can find out more if it's the same thing.

Yes, you can get a 2nd passport while in the UK, you still need the letter from your company here and you will have to use the correct form (i..e the passport office form and not the online form) but you can do it.

Musandam, amaaazing scenery, dolphins etc. The nicest hotel is the Golden Tulip but it is not as nice as the RAK hotels which would be about 90 minutes drive away. The drive up after you go through the border is amazing, coastal roads just a few metres away from the water and stunning cliff scenery.

I don't think there is such a thing as a multiple entry visa for Oman (if there is, it's as difficult to obtain as the UAE one ;) ). A 2nd passport is the way most people operate who travel a lot. He will just need a letter from his company here confirming the requirement and which countries he usually travels to, the letter should also mention his existing passport. He then will just complete a usual application form and apply in the usual way. He will then always have one passport with him even if the other is being used or full up with visas. Btw, his company should really cover the cost of the 2nd passport if it is a work requirement.

Hi Nikki Although documents are sometimes accepted without the MOFA stamp, which authenticates the UAE stamp that you have (you could try again at a different counter!) more than likely if you've been asked to do it then you had better. It's not a difficult process, MOFA opens at 7.30 (near Burjuman) and there is plenty of parking outside.

I really feel for you OP going through this, it must be awful. Having gone through a very rebellious teenage phase (involving a few incidents of driving underage/crashing/not going to school/climbing out of windows and running away etc) I often think that if my parents had not been so strict and just allowed me to do different things there would not have been such rebellion! Maybe a little bit of leeway woudl go a long way, although it is obviously very different here and the length of that leeway has to be considered. Good luck

Can't do ArohaDxb as we've met :) and it has to be a mental image. Redrec Tangle - often described by her friends as their pillar and a salt-of-the-earth kind of person, always there when you need her. Loves to shop. Wears nice shoes and is quite petite. KiwiSpiers. Very tall and walks with long strides. Hair is normally in a ponytail but when down can be blowdried as Big Hair. Does not suit bright red lipstick.

AlisMum can mostly be found in the kitchen whipping up another yummy meal. She is quite slim and spritely. Geordie Expat is full of fun and always has the kettle on, she can often be found browsing the baking aisle. Spongemonkey is mostly found in the hardware section of supermarkets purchasing new irons for her maid. She has a cackling laugh and likes G&T

Di@Dxb has little bottles of shea butter and other lovely ingredients lovingly labelled in pots with gingham stickers. Her skin glows with all the natural products she uses. Daza is like a mummy hen with her chicks following behind her. She has a very orderly house and everything is in its proper place in her house. LivelyTrish has a wooden bench outside her house and lives at the top of a mountain in Cyprus. She possibly also has a goat which is quite tame. LolaCat has a very full library, one of those ones that has a leaning ladder which you have to climb up to get to the top. She climbs it a lot. She also has spectacles which balance just at the end of her nose.

Generally, when you're doing something official where the documents have originated abroad in the UAE there is a 2 step process to authenticating documents. The first step is to authenticate the document by the country in question, and the second step is to authenticate that country's stamp by the MOFA either here or the MOFA in the country in question and then the MOFA here. So depending on where the police report has been issued from, they are probably asking that you have it authenticated before they'll accept it as evidence here. To do the actual replacement visas, once you have the police report it will be quite easy to have the visas reissued and stamped in your new passports. This will just involve a trip to the typing centre with the police reports. If you have a PRO to help with this great, otherwise you can just take a trip or two to Immigration and do yourselves - if you have copies of the previous visas this will save a lot of time/hassle! If I were you I'd just head down to Immigration with reports/passports & Copies of previous visas and speak directly to them tot see if they need the reports authenticating. Good luck!

Have you not been lately. :( You'll be so sad. The boat has gone! They've basically replaced the whole thing with hideous noisy video games and then just one of the usual climbing/play things. It's tiny now. No more running. No dressing up/library/pretend shop/water play/sand pit etc. :(

We had a RC wedding here and I'm not religious so rolled my eyes a bit at having to do the 'course'. But that "ten tips for a happy marriage" that we got given during the course, has been stuck to the front of the fridge through every single house move we've done. I particularly like "never yell at each other unless the house is on fire". Bless. :) edited by Tattie Bogle on 01/06/2014

If you are trying this, it will be much easier if you have copies of the visa with you. Also, (haven't read whole situation), I'm assuming that this is for a child so no Egate? Otherwise any adults could technically leave on their Egate, not supposed to travel on Egate unless you have the accompanying passport with you but may be a way round the problem if critical!
