If you are just able to buy them (Dragonmart/Ace/Amazon etc), you can call one of the handy man companies who will come and install them for you, for example Jim'll Fix it.

If you had a difficult birth I'd recommend all of you to take your LOs for cranial osteopathy which gently massages baby after a difficult birth which leads to associated sleeping problems for years afterwards. Some people are allergic to the dust from palm trees which obviously doesn't transpire until they move here! It is worth being tested for that.

Hi JLW, If you have been told to go to the Municipality building at Manara, from Jebel Ali, take the Al Manara exit and head towards Al Wasl Road, taking a right on to Al Wasl. Then take your first right again and then take the right at the T junction followed by a left, drive to the top of that road and you should see the Metro or signs for the Metro - the Municipality building and car park are beside the Metro station. hth.

The only 'catch' I guess is that people would say it is far from Dubai, but that location is only 15min from Dubai Mall. Some of the apartments face towards the desert, so a nice view - I think one of them is "La Vista".

Posh Paws farm for hours of goat feeding fun Bikes to one of the bike-friendly parks (Mushrif for example) Creek park to hire a family seater peddle car and cycle round the whole park followed up by camel or donkey ride All of the parks are fab at this time of year. Um Suqeim Park is near you, and located on the beach (Burj al Arab beach). The beach near Dubai Marine hotel/Palm Strip Mall has a small children's play area on the beach. Mamzar Beach Park is a drive, but worth it! Safa Park is lovely too. Creek Park has Children's City which is an interactive science centre, though you might want to save that for the hot summer months when you can't get outdoors. Real value for money @ 15 AED. Have you been round Old Dubai? The Museum is only 2 AED and so nice for kids, you could also do an abra ride to the other side and explore, children love being on abras and it is nice to show them the older sights. A ride on the metro from one end to the other? Good fun and a different perspective on Dubai, again something to be saved for the heat! Little train on the Palm which goes one end to the other, stop for an ice cream in Atlantis. There are endless play areas but I'd save them for when you can't do anything else!

Tea: (skimmed milk) = 15 Coffee x 2 = 10 Meal 1 @ 10.30am 2 x slices brown toast, one egg & a tsp ketchup: 240 Meal 2 @ 3.30pm 1 small baked potato, fat free cream cheese & tin of sweetcorn & lettuce/tomato/cucumber = 180 Tea: 15. 2 x maltesers: 30 = 500. water throughout.

Choitrams usually have haggis. Also, the fish&chip shop at ParknShop is like a real chippy. Bag of chips & a can of irn bru and good to go ;) Have yet to find anywhere doing a half pizza supper!!!

Hi SD, You would take the normal Dubai-Hatta road, just follow signs for Hatta. When you reach Hatta you could have lunch there at the Hatta Fort Hotel, or go to the Heritage Village. This is from memory so I hope it's right but once you go through Hatta follow signs for Oman, but not long after you are out of Hatta maybe only a few minutes there is a left turn, I'm not sure how well it is marked or what it is marked for. That road will take you through the mountains, and tunnels and out of the other side. It will lead you down to Kalba and you'd then drive along the coast to Fujeirah. You could then come home or go further up to to Khor Fhakkan/Dibba and then home from there. Not sure on places to stop for lunch on that side as we normally just stop somewhere and get a picnic. The last time we went over that side we found a cafe selling camel burgers. :D Enjoy!!

It's not too far. A favourite expedition of ours is to drive to Hatta but through the mountains (there are tunnels) and it brings you out at Khor Fakkan/Fujeirah side, really nice. And then home from Fujeirah direct to Dubai. (But now that there is a border stop on the way to Hatta you'd have to take your passports/ID cards in the car.) Make sure and check the weather before you go, it can be pretty different from Dubai and you wouldn't want to get stuck in a wadi ;) edited by Tattie Bogle on 20/01/2014 <em>edited by Tattie Bogle on 20/01/2014</em>

take SZR, come off at the Dubai Mall exit but take the road that says Jumeirah. At the traffic lights take a right on to Satwa Road, drive along that road for about 5 minutes until you get in to Satwa - you'll pass the bus station on your left and a car park, at the next big car park entrance drive inside but to the other side of the car park - park there. You'll be across from Regal etc and there is a line of fabric shops, you'll just have to wander in and out of some and try your luck!

Union Co-op does a great range of pre-made sandwiches/sausage rolls etc, they are about 1.75 AED each, just get a couple of trays of them and a cool box of juice & water and you are good to go to the park!!!

Hi Hester Yes, you can definitely get it in Satwa, you will get it in one or two of the shops along the main road in Satwa. If you post where you are driving from I'll give you directions. Have you ever tried feeding him with a bottle? It sounds like you have done that and he doesn't want to go back from it, so he's hungry but looking for the easy option to get milk from (typical boy ;) ) - maybe try some bottle feeds if you could pump or maybe you use formula sometimes? It's hard to think/focus on anything when you are up so many times during the night - can you get help or a rest to try and catch up on your sleep?

It sounds like DH has to be out of the country for a little while before applying, how long has he been out? I have forgotten what the period of time is. Just call DNRD and ask them - they are very helpful.

Emaar used to have all of the different floor plans on their website, otherwise you'll find the different ones on a property website (try propertyfinder.ae) - they are listed as different "Types" so type 6, type 5 etc.
