Sumi the first time we travelled to India I made a huge fuss about having a car seat, only to get there and find there were no seat belts in the back to tie it on to, lol. You might want to check that out first!

Eleanorah when was this? As I've been informed when booking the apt that you can't use the downloaded form (for some unknown reason!). Though maybe things have changed. ah, maybe they just mean you can't use the form which is 'applying from outside the uk' as you are not applying from outside the uk. if they now have a form for inside the uk rather than just the PO form then that makes sense.

G'morning you can't download the forms for the premium service, it's got to be a form from the post office - (which can leave you in a pickle if you are doing it in a rush as the person who signs your photos has to also sign on the form) you could put a post on EW asking someone to bring you over a form from the post office.

the parade is really good fun and your kids will love it! Fire engines, police horses, floats, cars covered with coins, lots of people dancing around etc. Really fun! It starts at Dubai Mall end goes up to the end of the boulevard, turns round and comes back. It's such a long road so plenty of space to stand right on the kerb. Really fun. VERY confused though, originally EW stated 1st Dec at 3pm, now it says 2nd Dec 3pm - Admin can you confirm? don't forget your flags! :D

Feeling a little philosophical ;) I guess for most Locals, and some expats who have been here for a long time and remember when people said "WHERE?" when you said "Dubai" or "the UAE" - this proves that Dubai is really on The Map. It's a chance to showcase our city. It's a chance to prove to the World that this once-small town has grown to such an extent that we CAN do this. We CAN welcome the world. We CAN show everyone how different cultures can stand side by side and work and live together harmoniously. It is simply the fact that Dubai is being considered that is making some people so very proud of this city and country. And for those of us that are behind the bid they are one million percent behind it in whatever shape or form it takes. And like Ali says in the video, come and see "my Dubai". Dubai GOOD LUCK - proud of you to have got this far!!! :) :) Next the Olympics!!!

Thunder and rain at mine. Long awaited! There is construction near my house and i can hear all the workers cheering, which made my morning. :) Be careful on the roads which will be super slippery after a year of dust/grime.

Morning, I want to write a letter to a family friend that has been given a couple of months to live, thanking him specifically for a couple of things he did for us when i was a child and just generally letting him know we are thinking of him. I'm not sure how to start and end the letter which doesn't sound too final or sad, I don't want to upset him or make him feel worse! Bit stuck with this and I know you ladies are good at this sort of thing. Thank you

From Trade Centre Roundabout, take the exit for Bur Dubai/Karama. If you look left as you drive down that road you'll see Immigration on your left on the opposite side of the road. You'll come down to a set of traffic lights opposite Sana Fashions, do a U turn at that signal, and come back up, loads of parking on your right hand side.

Hi, The dolphins are mostly on Khasab side, not Dibba side, so do one from Khasab. Khasab Tours & Travels are good. The trips are mostly the same with each operator though, i.e. half day or full day including lunch. Always dolphins and it is amazing. Enjoy! :)

You'll be classed as absconding within 6 months if you leave the UAE and your employer has not cancelled your visa in your passport. You'll then have problems re-entering the UAE. You need to get them to cancel your visa before you leave, you haven't mentioned what sort of notice period etc you were on but if you have problems approach the MoL with your contract/labour card etc and explain your predicament. The company will realistically need 3 days to cancel your visa (it could be done much more quickly but realistically you should allow this much time).

Morning! If you've ordered from New Look - how was your package received? did it get delivered by courier to your door, or to your PO Box and you had to collect it. Mine is 'lost in transit' so they are processing a refund but just wondering where it should have gone! Thanks,

It's no different to national bonds or mashreq millionaire both of which are similar local equivalents. Thanks Grumpy! :) http://www.nationalbonds.ae/RewardProgramFeatures?ID=223&TypeID=12 http://www.mashreqbank.com/uae/en/personal/accounts-deposits/winners-draw-dates-mashreq-millionaire.aspx

not easy to find this info! Premium Bonds A client living outside the UK should check whether local regulations permit them to hold Premium Bonds. For example, the US has strict gaming laws which may mean it isn’t possible or practical to hold Premium Bonds while living there. Where Bonds are permitted, your client will need to apply by post, then register for our online and phone service to manage their holding. Your client will need to have a UK bank account that can receive BACS transfers, and any prizes they win will be paid in Sterling

with district cooling, you get charged a flat fee whether it's on, or off. This may or may not be included as part of your tenancy - you have to check your contract carefully. Some LL may have previously been happy to pay it but might have changed their minds. It probably averages at about 400 a month depending on how big the property is. So then on top of that you have district cooling consumption charges (which would be 0 if not switched on) and then DEWA for your electricity/lights/etc.

Irooni be careful that your back pain is not *caused* by popping pills. Depending on what type of back pain you are experiencing. Your kidneys can be sore when trying to process brufen etc. Make sure you are drinking enough water too, if it's a kidney type pain rather than a sciatic type pain.
