Has anyone seen Dubai flags for sale anywhere. I've never seen them for sale in the usual places though they'd be easy to make at the tailors. would like to fly them in the run up to the Expo 2020 bid, but failing that the UAE one will do. 63 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi TDB big hugs.xx You may find a thread from a couple of years ago very helpful. Our dear AshC tried the "Pat and Shush" method and after a few weeks went from being up every hour to full nights sleep with no CIO or stress. When I get a min I'll dig and find it. xx

Hasina there are looooads of salons/massage parlours in the Ghusais/Al Nahda area which would be so much cheaper and not far to travel but if you don't get a recommendation for one you may just need to try out a few until you find one you like!

Is your Dr recommending you take half out and have it tested properly then see?. If so, I'd take the chance of a possible 2nd op. 1/2 a gland can produce enough to live a normal life without medication if you give it a chance. :) Where are you having your op? do you work, and how long are you allowing yourself off after to recover? Try not to worry too much, you'll be fine. :) edited by Tattie Bogle on 23/09/2013

Dear OP It could be something as simple as what your LO is having for a snack. Please check the juice she is having in her lunch box, if it's mango/orange/mixed fruit juice and has colouring in it - this particular colouring sends my LO bouncing off the walls - complete behaviour change, it can also be in cheeses, if she is having cheese. or yoghurts! Just go through her snack box with a fine toothcomb and see if you can see anything like that with colouring. It may just be that! Good luck.x

fine needle aspiration & biopsy & ultrasound - results inconclusive - so had to get it taken out and then sent to be tested properly. growth was about a golf ball size I think as very visible to see.

my biopsy results were 'inconclusive' so i had half out - my scar is also about 8 cm. I think recovery depends very much on the individual and how fast your body kicks in to make up for any missing gland - I didn't feel 'right' for about a year. You also get to you know your limits and what tips you over the edge re tiredness/schedule etc.

Hi when i was organising our wedding i was told that some of the small florists in karama actually supply to the 5* hotels, they are much cheaper than your fancier florists but do a great job. it is worth driving around karama back streets and going in and speaking to them, remember that they will work karama hours so shut between 1-4

oh TDB poor you. Not easy when you have work and juggling LO too. I was sick every couple of hours for 9 months, someone at some stage gave me these pills but I couldn't bring myself to take them for more than a day - I just don't trust them. It's up to you, but lots of other things work (not really for me but seem to for other people). Firstly, ignore what the scales say and put them away. It doesn't matter if you are eating all the time, do what makes you feel better. if eating salt and vinegar crisps and drinking 7up for breakfast makes you feel better, do it! Get the travel sickness bands from the pharmacy. They are like acupressure and press on the point on your wrist for nausea. Anything high in Vit B (almonds) are good and good for constant snacking too. carrying half a lemon in your bag helps, sniff regularly! I know you are over ginger, but try different things (ginger snaps etc). eat a little, often. salty things. guava juice helped me. lol i remember being in the car with DH and driving to meadows spinneys at top speed shouting I need guava juice RIGHT NOW! remember it will probably definitely pass at 12 weeks, so not long to go. chew gum for 'the taste' omg i remember that. take care hope it passes soon xx

If you are trying to get to Dubai from emirates rd, you can skip the whole al ain junction thing by going down to the ras al khor junction and going straight down through all the roundabouts. Think it was about 5 minutes quicker than sitting in the queue on Emirates Rd for 15 mins.

I agree re vit B complex tabs and also took kale supplements. peanuts, peanut butter and soya are supposed to inhibit thyroid function so steer clear. yoga exercises which force the blood backwards in to your thyroid gland are supposed to be very good, i.e. lying flat on the ground with your feet over your head and behind you, or a headstand against the wall.

I thought this thread was going to be about the situation of traffic coming off Emirates Road to either get to DSO or take the turn on to Al Ain Road in the morning. The problem of cars stopping in the 2nd lane of traffic to try and push in is one thing, however seeing various school buses at a standstill while trucks/buses/cars are flying up behind them is heart-stopping. Urging anyone who sees this to report the bus numbers etc to the schools concerned and the bus transport company please!

I had it too (until the end) but agree that at least when you are at work you are sort of distracted from it (not really!) - some things that helped me: - travel sickness bands from pharmacy - eating constantly (ha) - salty things, lemony things - carrying half a lemon round with you to sniff when you think you are about to be sick - fizzy drinks - guava juice - things with vitamin b (almonds) - ginger snap biscuits, ginger ale, ginger beer, fresh ginger, powdered ginger - drinking loads of water when you wake up so you have something to be sick with :( It's much better after 12 weeks when at least you can tell your colleagues why you have been so green and running to the toilet every half hour lol. hope you feel better soon :(

that's probably at the higher end but I don't think you will get it for any less than 200 a tree, because each one is a LOT of work. you will not believe how far your roots go. Maybe your LL would be willing to pay for half - and compromise? you could start calling some landscaping companies for quotes. PS - may be completely making prices up will check with Dh edited by Tattie Bogle on 11/09/2013

Yes some stupid idiot planted 26 trees. to be fair to your LL - about 10 years ago, they were all the rage! Gardeners were recommending them as the fastest growing and easiest to maintain, I think everyone just went along with it and of course the problems only started surfacing a couple of years ago when the roots had grown so big. Now the gardeners are charging again to remove them all (300 AED a tree) so it's a win win situation for them as they get revenue from the 2nd round of planting as well! I hope you do not live in our old garden :-P sorry it's not funny we know we pulled all of them up in new house too!! ETA. If I were a cynical person, I'd say the landscaping companies knew EXACTLY what they were doing 10 years ago.... edited by Tattie Bogle on 11/09/2013

Although it may seem far out, try Silicon Oasis, DubaiLand, Skycourts etc. There are sooo many new apartment blocks. DubaiMall is really only 15 minutes away and for Knowledge Village you'd just be straight down Emirates Rd, down Hessa St and it may be worth it with the rent difference!
