Yes you need to go back to typing again with passports etc and all of the documents inc salary certificate of DH etc. Then once that's done then to immigration for stamping. If you go to the Manara municipality centre there are typing centres in there and also immigration. I think that is right ;)

Hi Egg, Have you go the results of the medical? The best thing to do is go to a typing centre as they are very good and will explain what it is and what is required - you need to do the typing I think for the next part & then go back to immigration for final stamping - btw DH will need to sign once it is typed so take him with you!

You can do it at the airport Yorky, T1 or T3 and I *think* both are 24 hours. The egate office in Dnata does not open normally until 9am, i guess during Ramadan you would be safe to go 9.30 ish. <em>edited by Tattie Bogle on 02/08/2013</em>

Ladies the thread is titled atayef but you are also talking about kanufa, are the two the same thing because some are talking about cheese and others cream? An arabic neighbour once brought us the pastries with cheese filling and syrup and i'd like to replicate it but am not sure what it was, if it's one of the ones you are discussing? also please could you give idiot proof instructions with quantities! :) thanks!

Thanks... They are definitely hornets, I've had the misfortune of being stung by one when it went up my jumper while I was on the back of a motorbike, that's another story :-P - a very nasty sting indeed. I'll just need to monitor and see if any more appear or if it is just the season. Thanks!

..you know the ones. is it just the time of year for them to be flying around (like wasps in the uk in aug/sep), or would 3 of them in the garden mean a nest?! Also not too keen on having pest control out to do whatever they do to hornet nests - how would you locate one and then how would you deal with it humanely? Thanks :)

It's such a horrible, horrible thing and unless someone has been through it they don't understand! I was sick every 4 hours for 9 months - what helped me a bit was - the travel sickness bands from the pharmacy that you wear on your wrist - fizzy drinks, coke, 7up - salty crisps (all very healthy lol) - chewing gum - gingery things, ginger ale, ginger biscuits - don't wait for meal times, just eat a little constantly - have little snacks/biscuits with you all the time. sorry for you, I hope it passes at 12 weeks, i know it seems like so far away now but it will be here soon. :( xx

he has had his visa cancelled this morning unfortunately That's pretty unusual - most companies issuing redundancy would at least wait a month or two before visa cancellation to allow the person some grace time to find a new job. I assume he signed for his end of service payment on visa cancellation, is he sure it was correct etc?

I don't have a maid so can't comment really. But I always find it interesting to look at the papers in these countries to compare salaries. For example recently I saw adverts for a driver for less than 300 AED per month, and an educated skilled office worker for 600-700 AED per month. When you also add in to the equation that most unskilled workers (maids/labourers etc) often can not find guaranteed work every day, let alone a guaranteed monthly salary - it makes it easier to understand why their countries' embassies have set salaries at these levels and why they are happy with them. Sometimes it's helpful to have visited the countries in question to have a better understanding of how far that salary can go (not being patronising but unless you have been it is hard to equate it).

The computery type shops in Satwa or Bur Dubai will do it for you, if you take it to the Fix It shops in the Malls and they send it away, that's where they are sending it ;) so you can go directly to save time/money Bur Dubai - Al Fahidi St (Computer St), Khaleej Centre, Al Ain Centre, Al Musalla Mall. Satwa - any of the small shops in Satwa main st

Singarosa I am selling a treadmill if you are interested :) A crock pot is fab! You can make soups, stews, curries etc in it. I have a Kenwood which is a good brand. It's so good, you literally just put things in on your way out of the door, set it for 8 hours and then when you come home it is all ready! It's the way forward!! :)

If you can't have live in help, I advise leaving all your washing up and cleaning and getting an agency maid 2 or 3 times a week. There is nothing worse than running around all the time trying to fit everything in, and there is no need when home help is affordable and easy to organise. Let your agency have the key to your house. Leave the house a mess and come home to a calm, clean and tidy one ;) leaving you the time to play with your DD and DH. Also, invest in a slow cooker - chuck everything in on your way out to work and it will be ready when you walk in the door.

Have a big look at the food/juice etc your LO is having. thanks to a lovely EW'er I discovered that the orange colouring in most mango/orange juices, ice lollies etc, would send mine bouncing off the walls, i can now instantly if something with orange colouring has been consumed ;)! If you keep a note of when it seems to be worse and what LO has eaten/drunk that day you will hopefully get to know what yours is sensitive to, try to stick to only natural colouring/flavouring and hopefully that will help. <em>edited by Tattie Bogle on 28/07/2013</em>
