I don't see the prob in asking for boxes - it's better for the environment for them to be recycled, and most of the time when people move in they have a whole bunch sitting on their doorstep waiting to be taken away. No point in buying more cardboard when people have it already!

PS, have you got your UAE visa yet (you mentioned below still in progress) as that may affect any insurance procedures? I would go to Rashid to get checked out....

PS, Beebers if you are concerned you should just go to Rashid Hospital. many people have had free treatment there (go to the emergency section) - or if you do have to pay it should be minimal. just go.......

Also, remember that everyone here (mostly) has been new here once, so we all remember what it was like - that means people are more open and used to striking up conversations and new friendships. Sometimes you feel funny making the first move, so to speak, but you do have to put yourself out there a little bit sometimes :) Good luck!

Hi Beebers It sounds as though you just had the egg-sac bursting thing (which IS agony but which passes in a few hours but can appear from nowhere) but like the others said, you should def get yourself checked out anyway even if your pain has now passed. Latifa/Iranian/Belhoul would be cheapest. Let us know how you get on. Glad you are feeling better though! x

it's sooo lovely to see all the UAE flags and patriotic-ness and it's even nicer to see so much of it coming from non-nationals! and the way that the Locals smile to see us flying their flag, and the pride and love they have for their country - LOVE IT! the weather is sooooo good - so fresh and lovely to sit in the park on the grass, it's perfect so many fab things going on round Dubai, so much to do and get involved in such a perfect time of year to be living in the UAE! Happy Birthday dear UAE!! :)

PS Beebers, if you don't have health insurance, it's worth you having a government health card. A usual GP apt at a govt clinic is now AED 150. http://eservice.dohms.gov.ae/pservices/CreatePID0.aspx

I don't think there would be much price difference between Latifa and Iranian. You wouldn't find too much chit-chat at latifa either, however the gynaes are fantastic, probably much the same as Iranian, it has a very good reputation. Are you in a lot of pain now, have you tried anti inflammatory?

PS another place which is a bit cheaper where you could have everything done at one is Prime Medical centre (Jumeirah), the gynae there can usually see you the same day. Bellhoul is usually a bit cheaper too. hope you feel better soon.

Hi Beebers Some people get this pain on a monthly basis, it can be the egg bursting out of the sac that carries it down - it is AGONY - it's like labour pain for an hour. You could go to Latifa Hospital (Al Wasl) and just enter the emergency entrance, it's a paediatric and gynaelogical hospital, it would be cheaper for you if you had a govt. health card. But if it is a monthly egg-bursting-out-of-sac thing, Then i'm not sure if there is much that can be done apart from take an anti inflammatory :(

it's not on their website http://www.irishvillage.ae/EventsPage - so am not sure, might be worth giving them a ring. I don't think you need tickets but it gets very busy. Loads of kids too!
