We are going to Sri Lanka in October and I would love to stay in Kandy for a few days but a couple of people have mentioned rain to me and I'm afraid it might be a total washout! Has anyone stayed there at that time of year and, if so, what was it like? Would we be better to stick to the coast in October? Thanks

Sorry if it's a silly question but I can't find the answer anywhere - can you pay for petrol at petrol stations in Oman using dirhams, or do you need to take OMR or can you use a CC? Thanks!

Definitely have a look at Guildford (and the surrounding villages eg Clandon, Horsley, Bramley) - really lovely town with some great schools and quick train service to London

Victory Heights Primary has had to close as it will be pretty much cut off by the road closures.

Spinneys in Motor City definitely had them when I was there a few days ago - hope you manage to find some!

Sorry to hear you're going through such a tough time Jo. It does sound as though you may be depressed, which is not surprising given all you have been through. If you aren't in a position to get professional help at the moment, do try talking to a good friend or family member - you've been supporting everyone else and it's time you got some support yourself. Talking really does help. Also please consider taking up some exercise or sport as it is really beneficial in treating depression - even just a brisk walk or jog every day, or find a community class which will also give you the chance to meet some people outside of your immediate circle of family and friends? Something like Zumba, which is fun and uplifting, or another dance class? It could also give a focus to your days while you're thinking about what to do next? As for the car accident, please don't let anyone tell you that your reaction is over-dramatic. Driving phobia is very common after accidents, even relatively minor accidents, as your mind starts spinning about what could have happened. I've known several people who have experienced this and one who didn't drive for years after a small accident as she was terrified of what could go wrong (but, importantly, didn't!). I would really advise you to book a couple of driving lessons to get you back behind the wheel in a supportive environment - it helps, I promise you. You will get your confidence back if you are able to get back behind the wheel and that would give you back your independence and ability to get out of the house. If you're not able to afford lessons at the moment, perhaps ask a family member to drive you to a quiet area where the roads are not busy and let you drive around without the pressure of busy traffic to build up your confidence again? Hope some of that helps, but well done for coming on here and looking for support - you're not alone and you will get through this phase of your life and come out the other side. Keep us posted about how you get on
