In all my posts about rent, I've always said I wanted a system that was fair and my very first comment in this thread was that this new systems is more fair than the old system. I hope this new system works better for everyone. I also find this law fairer like you AR.

Eviction notices have to be stamped by the Public Notary at the Dubai Courts. There's one in Al Barsha and they are very helpful but there's quite a bit of moving from counter to counter to get things done. As part of the service, they arrange for the document to be sent by courier. Everything has to be in Arabic but if you tell translation people what you need they have standard documents prepared. It's a few hundred dirhams to get it all done. The tenancy contract needs to be registered with Ejari for the Notary to sign the notice. They work a split shift and it's often quieter in the evening. If you google Public Notary Al Barsha, it will show you the times. edited by A Rancher on 16/12/2013 TBH its not this complicated . I went to RERA , and they advised to send the 12 months notice via public notary or registered mail . If its public notary then its faster . If not , a registered mail will do . If it has to go to the rent committee then yes, all documents need arabic translation and typing . OP , why don't you call and confirm before you start going through all this process . I was following the threads on here and got freaked out but when you go there its pretty much black and white and they give you a step by step process to follow . Half of the things said on EW rent committee are an exaggeration and you'd want to sort this out based on your individual situation by visiting /calling them up and ask for advice .

You can use the public notary or registered post ( we used DHL , where you get a "received" notice )

Thank you so much for your input ladies. I've also noticed the service becoming nasty in Emirates but then put it down to the destination I travel to and assumed that it might be better to the western countries . Will probably go for BA then. Tbh I don't care if the staff are older or not pretty , I just hope I reach my destination without the plane combusting mid air . Yes , I'm a joy to travel with .

I've used Noa from house hunters for buying our villa in the ranches. She's very polite and straightforward which made the house hunting less stressful . We've now listed our other property for sale with house hunters again and so far they ve kept their appointments for viewing etc and it has been hassle free till now . Good luck and remember to make sure to compare the agency commission as from our experience they seem to vary with different companies . edited by tomatosoup on 18/10/2013

i am an employer, and would really advise people not to get into court. Always try try try your best to get it sorted out of court, or even accept a lower pay out. The case will drag on for years, and during that time you are not allowed to work, NO body will hire you, as you dont have clear papers. However, the company/CEO will go on functioning as normal. I have had to turn down some great candidates who interviewed, as they simply were not free of the case, and therefore unable to commit. This is not true . Of course its better to get it sorted out of court but this usually doesn't work out in most scenarios . My friend was in a similar situation to yours Shabbydiva . She approached labour and discussed the case , said employer wasn't cancelling her visa to work somewhere else nor were they paying her the money they owed her .She also submitted the offer letter from the company that was willing to hire her . They sent a notice to the employer for attending a meeting to see if they could sort it out in the presence of the labour officer ,which didn't happen and she said she wants to take them to court . They asked the employer to cancel the visa so that she can apply for the new one with the new company and the monetary issue is now being assessed in court . The idea I think is to make sure your next employer knows about this and supports this as they re the ones who sort out the new visa ,labour card etc . I don't know if this made any sense as its just second hand information that I have but I do know it is DEFINITELY possible to work during the case period .

I don't know if you've already done this but have you shown him to a Pulmonologist or a respiratory specialist ? I had similar symptoms and was diagnosed with cough variant asthma . I've had some relief with inhalers . They'll do a spirometry to figure out lung capacity etc and give a trial of medication and based on that will find a diagnosis . I had a CT as well just to rule out anything else . Just thought info would help in case this route hasn't been travelled before :D . Oh and if he smokes , might be good to stop for a bit and check if symptoms improve? I've tried some home remedies but nothing was as effective as the inhaler . Hope he gets better . I know how hard it is for everyone to sleep when you re positively coughing your brains out lol. Been there ,done that .

Hello , my younger brother has had a full body MRI when he was young . It's not a very comfortable setting for an adult let alone a child . I was with him in the MRI room , but as SEY83 mentioned it ends up being a little claustrophobic and I personally would rather be sedated as I find it hard to lie still for a long time . Just wanted to let you know that the sedation they use is quite mild as well incase that is what is causing you anxiety. Hope that helps.

Whenever I ve booked through their website , I haven't been able to book tickets for family with my credit card if I'm not traveling . I'm not aware if the same applies when you visit emirates and buy the tickets or get them through an agency .

why do they call it the god particle. That will cause alot of problems lol I agree, I dont like it being called that either. Apparently prof Higgs is an atheist and he dislikes it being called that as well . Read somewhere that it was supposed to be "goddamn " particle and the embarrassment to publish that resulted it in being shortened to god particle . * citation needed

Very entertaining thread ladies. SkyKitty, I was wondering how long you would take to join in, especially after your bashing on the CPR thread. You write well and make your point in a very balanced and clear manner. To the OP I've tried emirates.com several times for quotes on your dates, and have never had a figure over 520. Perhaps you could try Expedia and see all your options. Just a couple of observations 1. Emirates crew cannot upgrade because they have had their ego boosted. In fact they can loose their job for upgrading even another crew member or their own family. 2. Crew are working almost double the hours that they were a decade ago, not that that condones rude behaviour in any way, shape or form, but might explain any decline in service, for those of you that commented on that. [b'>[/b'> [b'>[u'>Really sorry to hear that , but I don't understand why the layman who pays for the service needs to delve into such details , almost all of us are overworked out here in Dubai . I don't expect my clients to expect any less because I 've been working overtime nor do I expect them to understand that I'm snappy today because I've had a bad day . They obviously have a right to complain [/u'>[/b'>. 3. In well over a decade I have never seen a crew member 'fumble' another crew in the galley (although Ive witnessed alot of passengers try their best), or have I heard a CC member 'yell' at a child, especially in First (not that you don't deserve great service in all cabins). I am actually often surprised at how patient so many of the crew are with children, considering most of them have very little experience with kids prior to flying. My DS can be a handful on flights, yet he's never had anything but lovely service from the crew. Whilst I agree that unfortunately the service on Emirates, as with most companies of its size, can be hit and miss. However there are alot of hardworking lovely crew out there, as well as a few bad apples. It's like being in a dysfunctional relationship. If its ALWAYS bad leave (there are plenty of other airlines out there). And if there is ALWAYS a problem, perhaps you should look in the mirror and ask yourself why? [b'>[/b'> Umm , I honestly don't understand how a dysfunctional entertainment screen , damaged stroller ,cabin crew dislodging a bag from the storage area on to my head , being skipped for snacks ,not served etc makes ME a bad person ?! Tried the mirror , no ..no answer unfortunately .[u'>[b'>[b'>[/b'>[/b'>[/u'> edited by tomatosoup on 05/07/2012

These EK bashing threads are sooooooooooooo boring, spoilt expat syndrome? If you don't like an airline fly with another, hardly takes a genius to figure that out. Why would you pay to fly with an airline you can't stop complaining about? Yours an EK fan. I think those who've had an issue have made it clear that A) They provide direct flights . B) Some of us choose the better evil and prefer not to travel on cheap budget airlines due to personal reasons such as paranoia /delays/ timings . LOL if someone can't really contribute to a thread about their experience whether negative or positive , I think it negates the whole point of the forum ( refer threads about weird maid ,sale shocker ,tom-kat ,school bashing ,community bashing etc etc ).

Can't say everything I think about this but yes I agree there is definitely room for improvement...back in the 90's when I came out here regularly with EK it was a very different experience to how it is now (although I don't fly much now so my experience is limited). Having said that I do feel bad for a lot of the crew because A) some passengers are just awful - even towards other passengers! and B) it must be hard in a role like that if some colleagues don't pull their weight on a flight, and then the whole team faces the bad press I'm sure EK will take note if enough people flag up bad experiences, but please flag the good ones too because that's how good crew get promoted and then they will be good leaders and insist on their teams being great :) Agree that some passengers are awful but really if you look at it like that almost all of us come across some nasty people as a part of our work. At least those kind of job's where any sort of interaction is required . Sales -customer , HR-employees ,doctor-patient , landlord-rent payer but clearly they knew that being CC would mean dealing with all sorts of people and I assume they 're trained well . All I'm saying is maybe the management really needs to pull up their socks and the CC who read this ( at least the ones who have some sort of leadership roles ) ensure that they don't get discredited on public forums due to the few who are just unnecessarily nasty to passengers . At the end of the day , no passengers - no work .

I end up spending ridiculous amounts of money on EK , because it's the only decent flight that flies to my place and in comparison ( with regard to timings/ delays etc ) Ek seems lesser of the pain so I end up booking them all the time . However , as CA said , almost always there is something or the other that happens ( like the entertainment screen not working / damaged luggage / food running out ) . It's so annoying that they take the pain to print up a menu and ( sitting in the 4 th row of economy ) when it reaches your turn , it's almost always , " well this or nothing " . I was once sitting next to a lady who was a transit passenger from Dallas and she had a child with her , she asked for something on the menu and the CC said she doesn't have it with her , she 'll come back and serve her and child . She came back to collect everyone else's tray at which point said lady asks for dinner . CC told her it was too late , we're going to land ! I thought she should ve reported that kind of behaviour but she didn't as I think she just wanted to get home but I definitely know the standards have plunged in the past few years , I was happy with their service for about 9 years but definitely not now . Almost always the fares are different when you book individually for a few people and when you book for them together . If I had a choice would fly with some other airlines . edited by tomatosoup on 04/07/2012

Hi , I'm a big fan of Dr. D as well . We all look for skills /recommendation / good practice etc by all doctors of course but I find him very patient , very accommodating ( when it comes to last minute appointments) and he even visited me on his off day, while I was admitted just to pop in to see if I was ok .Overall a very pleasing personality . IMO all those little things matter to me personally along with the whole good experienced doctor skills .

Is anyone else having internet connection problems - I am with Etisalat in Jumeirah 3 and the connection just seems to keep dropping all the time. Its very frustrating. Are you using a router ? Is it old ? Not a tech expert but it happened to us quite a bit and we eventually dumped an old linksys and bought a belkin that was apparently more suited for the connection we had . Now it's fine apart from an occasional reset to keep things going smoothly . We were also told to reduce the number of appliances we used the connection on but with the new router we're using maximum number of appliances and it seems to be alright . Better to get their techie to visit you because our issues started out like this and reached a stage where we had to literally reset every 15 minutes ! Ps: I've also had an experience of vaio's having trouble connecting to wifi ( on googling apparently a common issue ) compared to other laptops .

While we're at it I have a doubt myself . When I applied for an ID for my maid , I got a text saying the appointment is in October ! Is that an error or do appointments generally have that much of a waiting period ? Edited to add : so if she gets her id by december or something I''ll have to renew it again when her visa expires in march ?? edited by tomatosoup on 21/05/2012

He works at the Medcare hospital . Ive heard from somewhere that he also works at Welcare on select days of a week. If your insurance covers these hospitals I wouldn't recommend anyone else ! @ Spongemonkey : I enquired with my friend and she also seems to " think" she got the 5000 aed back at some point . BTW I've noted the ladies seem not very keen on solving your problems and generally just scribble on your paperwork and ask you to go somewhere else and then the next person asks you who scribbled on the papers .Happened to me quite a number of times so now do the paperwork and take my sponsor with me for face presentation (male) to the normal counters . Makes it much more easier to be honest .

I would actually go to immigration and ask there. I imagine they would need a doctors report detailing the extent of his disability and dependence. I am sure it is possible. Oh I'm sure they have a medical report with them as they do have a disability parking sticker etc which I suppose requires the submission of it (?) Yes , I did consider going with her to immigration as well but just wanted to know if there are any documents or letters we needed to take in advance as one tends to go round in circles at the immigration department at times :) Thank you!

Hello there . I've got a friend who has a physically disabled son confined to a wheelchair and he is turning 18 in a few days . Their residence visa is up for renewal now . I've heard somewhere that a residence visa is issued to a male child, above 18 years of age on the basis of his disability and his dependence on his family . Is this true? If so , any clue as to what are the steps to follow to obtain one ? I googled a bit for her but haven't been able to find any useful info . Hopefully you lovely ladies will be able to help us out .Thanks in advance! edited by tomatosoup on 05/03/2012
