Gloria Hotel in Media City. It`s rather luxury apartments than hotel. Silly name but the one-bedroom suite is very beautiful and inexpensive. Check them out on Bookin.com, it looks awesome! Outdoor pool, great views etc... Metro station is right next to it.

I heard they have good ladies nights...It looked fancy enough and big enough, dance floor, cigar bar etc...it was completely empty but we were there early at 7, went to the outdoor pool bar instead. IMO most places in Adress Marina (apart from Blends) are overpriced for no reason.

I really hope that it's getting shut down. They don't need a/c, it's only open from November to February, and in the evenings when it's cool. I was reallly looking forward to going this year, especially because a friend of mine is coming to vist. I also wanted to get another leather jacket and nice scarves at the Pakistan pavillion. Let's see what their web site says. I agree, they don`t need a/c, it`s one of the very few places in Dubai where you can breathe some fresh air!

I heard that they were building a permanent air conditioned venue..? I find it strange that it`s being shut down, it was very popular.

Your question is too vague, you need to be more specific. Hotel`s ranges from 100$ Holiday Inn to $$$ at Burj Al Arab... Do they like to live fancy or backpacker style?

I bought a couple of Banana Republic silk dresses from there, so i can`t complain. There are some shops selling perfumes, but i`m not sure if it`s the real stuff or made somewhere in Jebel Ali. Anyone knows?

Most commonly recommended doctors are Bassel Fayez Darwish who is based in Dubai Healthcare City, and Humeira Badsha at Al Biraa Arthritis and Bone Clinic. I have reumatoid arthritis and personally prefer Dr. Darwish. I heard there is a very good specialist working at American Hospital, but i haven`t seen him.

I use BBC`s Lifestyle channel recipes quite often, but i adjust it to my liking, often skip the butter, whole milk, flour coating etc...Most of the time this ingredients are not critical to the recipe.

My Hubby went to Al Barsha to renew, and they said he had to do the finger printing again and his photo's. Im not sure if they are doing the ID process on renewing the visa, Hubby's company PRO is excellent and they never mentioned about renewing ID. I looked at the website last week and the page hadn't been updated since last October, how are we suppose to keep upto date with Government charges. Oh no, so we have to go through the whole process again? Our company arranged everything and we had the VIP service but it still took the whole morning with travelling etc. [b'>I didnt realise they did the VIP for ID, I know they do it for Visa renewal!!! [/b'> They have VIP for ID and VISA renewal??!!! Shoot me!

I was using YSL for many years, until i tried Chanel Eclat Lumiere and Clarins (don`t remember the name, red pen). I think that these are much, much better than YSL. Clarins had the best coverage and illuminating particles, awesome, but i couldn`t find the right shade for my skin tone, so now i`m using Chanel which is great too.

The decision to move back. In large part it came down to a sense of boredom in Dubai. This is hard to explain for anyone that has not lived in Dubai, including many Brits who only see the media snapshot of the UAE. So many people asked me why on earth I have moved back to the UK (yet not one of them had actually been to the UAE) For us it was to do with the lack of cultural depth and heritage, and the exaggerated focus on beach/sun/Malls and coffee mornings that meant daily life became so monotonous. Education Education was the main factor in deciding our return after trying 3 schools in 6 years it became evident that the standards were not what I had been used to in the UK, there was so much hype and brainwashing done by the schools to keep parents believing that their children were getting a first rate education when in reality all we were paying for was a sub-standard state school. The lack of educational visits, not being able to relate to UK money, missed curriculum time due to Arabic lessons, limited sports lessons and backpacker teacher culture started to take its toll. Geography Its great being back in the UK everything is within easy reach, from the New Forest to the Dorset coast every weekend is an adventure. In the UAE we found the surrounding Emirates so similar it was hardly worth the visit. We like the feeling that things are actually happening here. Somehow I feel so much more ALIVE. We love the British landscape, and the fact that there is so much to see in a small place. We like the proximity to Europe, to see Italy, France, Germany, etc. We like the fact that our professions are so much more advanced here and better rewarded. Climate We found the harsh climate in the Middle East a drain physically and emotionally, I have never felt so lethargic in my life. The monotony of scorching hot sun every day became very, very boring. We are much happier now we have real seasons again, yes, it does rain a lot in the UK but it’s never stopped us from doing what we want, unlike the weather in Dubai, the children were unable to play outside for 5 months of the year because of the heat. Family This was also a major factor in deciding to move home, parents/grandparents won’t be around forever. I felt my children had missed out on being close to their Grandparents and extended family for too long. I am not from England, but this post pretty much sums up why i can`t wait to go back home. Health will be my No.1 reason. No matter how healthy i eat and look after myself, i don`t just feel good. I find it really difficult to stay fit here, for example, because i am an outdoor person and GYM just doesn`t do it for me. My vision appears to be declining rapidly even though i`m only 30. Because of the climate I have no access to good fresh air 8 months out of 12. edited by Wild Mint on 10/09/2011

Let me pose a question - many of you have gotten to 'know' me on here - would you think, from my posts, that I was physically disabled? No, never. I am really surprised. You have a great spirit, I wish you all the best! no offence, but why are you surprised ? Because, taking into account my own character i will probably be even more dark and gloomy. AA is always positive. And mostly because as a person who never had a close encounter with people with disabilities, i have a pre-programmed prejudice of them being ''different'' in pretty much everything. Please don`t kill me.

Ha! We received 4 platinum credit cards, it`s just myself and DH-so we got 2 cards each! Again! Second time in the past 5 months... Poor DH had 2 hours long phone fight with them, i just kept saying ''i knew it, i just knew it...'' Each time is such a pain in the a** to cancel those cards, it`s impossible to get through to those morons and get them to fix their own f** up! All we wanted was to make DH`s account accessible to me. '' The great'' Emirates NBD. A bunch of monkeys.

Just want to say to OP that I think it is a matter of trying to choose the least cr@p bank to have to deal with, rather than trying to choose the best products (e.g. best interest rates). The best advice ever! Personal experience: HSBC and RAK were okay, had a few problems with City Bank which got resolved and hopefully i won`t ever hear from them again. Honest to God, Emirates NBD will soon give us brain damage.

More cafe (dont have the pancakes thou as they really do look like Pan Cakes) LIme tree (dont have thier coffee it sucks) Shakespeares J[b'>ust because you don't like it don't tell others not to have it[/b'>. It is great coffee IMO I guess recommendations can go either way, good or bad......;) I do like the LT coffee but don't buy it on principle as it is outrageous expensive [b'>(17 dhs last time from memory) for a average size glass, big rip-off IMO[/b'> You can get the whole pitcher (approx.3 cups) of filter coffe for just 17 DHS, which can easily be shared. Inexpensive and way better than Starbucks. We usually order the same at More, it tastes better and just a tad more expensive... As for the breakfast, we have never managed to get to Paul`s on the weekend - it`s always so packed! But the food looked good. Mazina @Adress Marina mall has a lovely breakfast, love the food, not so much for the atmosphere. Waves in LeMeridien is good too, very busy, great outdoor setting, love it! I had the worst food in my entire life at Coco's.

But still, according to Wikipedia, 63% or more of Dubai population are from the ''subcontinent''. 17% Emirati 9.1% Other Arab nationalities 42.3% Indian 13.3% Pakistani 7.5% Bangladeshi 2.5% Filipino 1.5% Sri Lankan 0.9% European 0.3% American 5.7% other countries edited by Wild Mint on 08/09/2011

Personal experience-15 years difference, he was older. I did not notice ANY difference at all, it just happened and he was the 'love of my life'...After 5 years being together we parted, which had nothing to do with the age... I know one couple (relatives) where she is 35 years younger, they have a 8 y.o. son... I am not bothered with the whole 'age issue' at all!

I can`t run because of the arthritis, but I love brisk walking, i`m just waiting for the weather to get better so myself and DH can resume our walking/backpaking in Dubai again. I hate gyms so it`s walking and pilates to get me back in shape... I have never used any extra weights, but carry a small pedometer to count the amount of steps, my minimum to start losing weight is at least 10000 steps, 2-3 times a week. As you grow stronger, you can easily double or triple the amount...
