Puppylove, delaying your arrival isn't going to work, since you have to physically be in the country for any RP processing to take place. I doubt there will be a problem. The number of people with children who arrive here and put their kids into schools immediately, must have made a system in place for parents without RPs.

Unfortunately the lady I found to move in with me has had a small issue, so: Looking for a female Western Expat to share a villa in Wakrah - QR3,750 per month including E/W and part-time houseboy - must be pet friendly. Will suit someone working in Wakrah, Mesaieed, Airport, Cornishe or C, D, E Ring areas. Immediate occupancy.

Larry is still in the compound and has been seen, but is still elusive in being caught:-( Please let his lovely, devastated owner know if you see him. Thanks.

Chuckling at this thread... seen two bouts of lack of judgement this week.. one by a western mother and dauther and the other by a Qatari gentleman: 1) Western mom and daughter in public wearing bikinis under tight shorts and tops and swingy short pool wraps... was horrified. 2) Being a good little westerner that I am, I don't smoke during the day in Ramadan so to a local spot on a desert road I frequent, I know when I turn onto the dirt road I can safely light up a fag - lo and behold, after pulling out major self control not to light a cig after 8 hours - I turn onto my little road and come accross a land cruiser turning onto the asphalt, local behind the wheel with a HUGE cigar hanging out of his mouth - man was I p*ssed off.... Here I was being so good trying not to offend anyone - and there he drives, for all to see.... Grrrrr

Its strange you say that, because I have never noticed that Ginger Ale or Tonic Water is any more expensive that my general buy of Coke Zeros... I usually buy at the small grocers and as far as I can tell the price is the same as other sodas.

Check her for ticks. Dogs seem to pick them up there - she might have a touch of Ehrlichia (a tick borne disease common in Qatar) which gives them loss of appetite, soft stool or diahorrea, lethargic appearance. It can be treated easily if caught early. First assess her taking the table food - if she doesn't or eats poorly, take a trip to the vet and possibly blood test to diagnose Ehrlichia. edited by xena001 on 07/07/2011

There are many places in Doha for 4,5k - 6k a month. Depending on where you are looking. Like someone else said earlier, have you been on Qatarliving.com? They have an accomodation section in their classifieds. I was recently looking, but they are all flats for that price and I need a villa due to my animals. Found a villa in Wakrah for 7.5k and have found a nice housemate also:-) What area are you looking in?

MaryCatherine, was just about to say the same thing about bringing the pork back... be really careful. If you spend a fortune on it and it then gets confiscated, thats a big loss and I don't mean financially;-p To be safe just make Dubai your pork haven and have as much as you like while there.

Wakrah is literally just down the road from the NDIA. You can find good villas there for a good price.

Veritas, I just realised who you are, lol.... Puppylove, i am a dog trainer and I can put you in touch with another lady who also trains dogs here in Doha. Do get in touch with Janet for the best advice regarding relocations. Bringing dogs in can be a hair raising experience, even if it sounds easy. If you do decide to go it alone, do make sure its late night flights as its too hot at any other time of day for the dogs to be waiting out of the AVI room for transfer. Good Luck.

Never mind the horn. I sooooooo want spikes that come out from the wheels, do their thing and then go back in again, so no evidence of what caused afore mention vehicles to be left in a heap with half the car gouged out!! Now that's what I would call therapy and sooo much better than the mercury exploding blood pressure. Ohhh the things you dream of in the middle east!! Oh well back to reality and the pills :) Ah Veritas... I think we are twins seperated at birth.... thats exactly what I want... coupled with a flashing red LED sign at the back with a "Warning - you are too Close" phase - and then a count down... and bam - out of the bumper comes a metal foot that forces the car backwards, for all those tail-gaters... I think we could make a fortune with our ideas;-P
