I've been going to Ted Morgan in MC since they opened and have always been pleased with my cut & colour, however last time I went I learnt that a few of the girls have left due to not being happy there, I'm hoping this doesn't affect future visits there as I was so pleased to finally have a local good salon. I didn't realise anyone had left, I was told some relocated back to the Palm branch? I thought it was just a change of staff between branches due to visa's but interesting to know that some have left. My stylist isn't at MC anymore so I am trying someone else and so far she has been great.

I feel awful re my tenants. Young toddler..six months pregnant. Her mum is terminally I'll. I can not live with myself if I break their lease plus I can't afford the mortgage anyway. My lawyer sent him a letter to Dubai last year. He just ignored it. I think repossession then renting is my best bet..abhorrent though I find it. That is very thoughtful of you but really you need to start concentrating on what is best for you and your children (that doesn't make you a bad person) I am thinking it would be quicker to get the house repossessed if you evict the tenants and move in because you cannot pay the mortgage? While ever you have tennants in even if they don't pay the full mortgage amount it is easy for your husband to pay the extra so you are forever tied to him because of a house that is of no use to you. As for your daughter do not send her tote same school if you feel it will be so traumatic. Maybe it involves another bus journey or you can drive her or maybe look at home schooling for a year until you get the house situation resolved. Good luck with any of the tough decision you have to make x

I'd like to know what time it starts! Unless Im just being thick (which is entirely possible ;) it doesn't say on the tickets ..... Doors open 6 show at 8pm I also wondered the same as there is no information on the tickets. I am sure I have read somewhere that doors open at 5pm and show starts at 7pm?

If you are in the DIFC after 5 years it is calculated on 30 days I do not know if this applies to other areas of the UAE Same applies in JAFZA

I can't help with travel agent recomendations but I would also check all inclusive rates. Whenever we have been in the past few years most tourists on package holidays have gone all inclusive which I imagine can save you money if you intend to stay in the resort and you enjoy a few drinks. I also think the duty free has now closed so you would need to purchase at the airport.

Sb you don't need to justify your decision to anyone. I for one was denied all sugar and treats as a child. My lunchbox consisted of a cheese roll, juice box and pack of raisins whereas all the other kids got hula hoops, wagon wheels, Um bongo and all sorts. Consequently when I went to secondary school and walked there from the bus stop, I would stop off at Spar and stuff my face with Cola bottle sweets, chocolates, crisps etc at 8am! I still have issues with bad and naughty foods and major guilt issues about them so my point is, a few treats does them no harm and I think is better in the long run! Um Bongo :) loved that as a kid, dread to think how much sugar was in it but then again we only had treats in moderation.

Jebel Ali is nice, they have 4 or 5 swimming pools and a large stretch of beach. Always plenty of sunloungers although it can get busy at weekends and on public holidays. There are also a few good dining options.

Thanks so much Yorky! I am trying to find the rule that states that an employer in JAFZA can claim visa fees back from an employee who doesn't complete the probation and it's not in there! Can you help with this? TIA! I would check the details of the contract that the employee signed and if it doesn't specify you could go and see a PRO at Jafza. I also asume it would depend on the reasons why the employee is leaving during the probation period.

I don't know how bad the scratches are but don't rush into getting a quick fix and it not getting done right. Accidents do happen and no matter how much you take care you will get small scrathes on your car over time. We had a few scratches on one of our cars so booked it in with the dealer, who made an excellent job but they had the car for several days. I am sure you feel terrible but best to own up, it could happen to anyone.

Nippy please do not feel like you have failed. I probably didn't post on your leaving post but do remember it and wished you well. I also think you had more balls than many people by leaving the situation and heading for the unknown. You have done the hard part! Yes you will still have problems to deal with, and if they concern the development of your children then you are in a great country to offer you the support you need. Equally you are entitled to the benefits that are keeping you and your kids in the UK. I have very strong views on those that abuse the system and find it very hard when the hardworking or genuine people feel guilty to ask for help :( Good luck to you and your kiddies, it will get better and you are doing a great job xxx

If its not too hot to sit outside then the outdoor terrace at The Wharf (Mina A Salam) is really nice, or maybe the Dhow and Anchor at JBH? My favourite Italian is Prego's at Media Rotana. It get's quite busy at the weekends but usually families dine there in the early evening.

I would say it really depends on what they want budget and location wise. If they want a beach hotel then there are the obviously choices but if its just somewhere to use as a base ( ie not spending much time there) then there are plenty in Tecom and Al Barsha

I had the same issue a few weeks ago as I am not keen on leaving them in the recycle bins but BellauK who posts on here offered to collect and sell at their charity events. Try a few searches on here and I am sure you will find lots of options.

Spinneys sell slices from large pork pies so I assume they would sell you the full pie if you wanted. Personally I don't like them but the OH always manages to hide one in the shopping trolley if he comes with me to do the food shopping! He prefers the imported ones made by Walls, they come in a couple of different sizes and can be purchased in Spinneys, Park and Shop and Choithrams.

Thanks for replies, Decisions Decisions.....Waterpark would be ideal for 12 yr old but, can't seem to find it ? Laguna also sounds lovely. Will look at Koi Samui. Many thanks x We went to the Laguna area for lunch one day. Walked around the grounds at the Banyan Tree, which were lovely and I am sure that is the same of the rest of the hotels in the complex as they are all four or five stars. We were a little late for lunch so the only place open was the restaurant by the pool. The menu was very limited and everything was priced at 550 baht which even by hotel standard was expensive. We just stayed for a beer which was also expensive. We walked across the road to the golf club for lunch and that was much more reasonably priced and a beautiful setting. I did consider staying here but not sure what bars and restaurants are like within walking distance outside the hotels. Hygiene left a lot to be desired in the restaurants outside of our hotel and we had trouble finding something in between (we didn't want five star all the way, but after watching them prepare some of the foods without any running water supplies to even wash their hands it did make me lose my appetite!) hope you have better luck than we did as I am sure there is something to suit everyone :)

We just got back from Nai Yang in Phuket and the hotel that we stayed in was lovely but the beach and sea was nothing like the pictures. The sea looked dirty the beaches were full of rubbish with stray dogs wandering about. Maybe we didn't pick the right place, especially for our first visit but we certainly won't be rushing back which is a disappointment as everyone else thanks Thailand is wonderful.

Sitting here eating cheese on toast! That just reminded me of the other week, we couldn't agree what takeaway to order and the fridge was almost empty but I managed to find all the ingredients to make cheese and baked bean toasties and they went down a treat :) <em>edited by Yorky on 18/04/2013</em>

TDB, I was also going to suggest Chimes, though, like my favourite, the Noodle House, it's more Pan Asian than what we English would think of as "Chinese Take Away"! Yorky, like you, I really miss the Copper Chimney, which we found expensive, but cheaper and better than our present alternative of the Rupee Room. Sitting here eating cheese on toast! We are also using the Rupee Room now, although didn't enjoy the last one and as its also expensive I have stared to make my own chicken jalfrezi. Homemade is probably better for us though so shouldn't complain but still miss the Copper Chimney.

I still miss my weekend curry from Copper Chimney,they said they would relocate after closing in the Springs but don't think they ever did :( I'm not a fan of take out Chinese but the OH is so occasionally we have something from Chimes which is quite good (Chinese / Thai) What about that Chinese at JBR, Da Shi Dai (?) we tried some food at the Taste of Dubai and the crispy chilli beef was very good

Fantastic, Do you know if i can hire the clubs etc? This will be his first introduction to Real golf,so if he likes it we will look into group lessons. Thank you so much for your feedback :) Yes you can hire clubs but for the par three you only really need a few clubs no need to get the full set. If he does decide he likes it and you book lessons all equipment will be provided so don't rush out and buy everything. I have lessons there as does my OH and we have friends who send their children, it's a friendly club with good option of lessons / packages without being a member. Hope he enjoys :)

The par three course at AR would be a great introduction for your son, it's never very busy so no pressure holding anyone up, or if necessary you can let people play through so you don't have to rush. I'm a member so don't have to pay but I think it approx 70 Dhs for adults and less for children (much cheaper than the Montgomerie). A bucket of gold balls for the range is about 20 Dhs and hey can use this before or after they play the par three course. If your son enjoys it they do some group lessons for children.

In the family entertainer there are vouchers for Beachcombers and Latitude at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and Al Muna at Mina A Salam. There maybe others too but these definitely accept vouchers for the alcohol packages. Also if you have registered your book online you can get additional monthly offers and there are usually a couple of brunches included.
