Agree, Cavandish is nice & family oriented but a little small. I have booked for Al Muna... thanks CapitainJacky. We went to Al Muna last week and really enjoyed it. All the food and drink stations are now inside because its too hot to be outside. We used the entertainer vouchers and paid 203 dhs each, including drinks.

I love Nawab's butter chicken. The shop is in the food court of MoE, and I believe they deliver in AR. They also have one in Mirdiff City Centre, and I agree the butter chicken is lovely :)

Spinneys at Motor City had quite a few bottle of Robinsons lemon last week, and the OH came home with a couple of bottles of orange flavour at the weekend so I assume he got that from Le Marche in AR. Hopefully the shortage is over :)

I think for your budget you will be looking at the villas in Al Reem which isnt too far from the exit onto Emirates Road. The only problem is the traffic at that exit in a morning during school term....not sure exactly what the peak times are as I try and leave before 7.15am and its easy to get out at that time. For a 3 bed villa we pay approx 1000 dhs per month for DEWA (this is an average for the year as it changes during summer/winter). We have a gardener come three times per week and he charges 300 dhs per month. The Ranches is a great community to live in.

Cobone or Living Social had some good deals on recently. Also worth trying Agoda.com or Booking.com. I also found the rates for the Hilton Resort and Spa in RAK quite good on their own website.

I agree - Chi Nail Salon is great. I've had so many bad experiences lately at T&T I don't know why I even bother calling them. Anyone know when the Nail Spa place at the AR Golf Club is supposed to open? It is advertised on this months news letter as opening soon and they have also got a new sign up in the reception so dont think it will be long. I will ask when I go tonight. This is the response from the golf club: Unfortunately, we do not have specific date; The Nail Spa just informed us that it would be within this month.

Sorry I have a few more questions :) Has anyone stayed at either of the Jumeirah hotels, and is one better than the other for location and service? Also many hotels don't have car parking facilities, so how far away are you likely to have to park? We will have a hire car and will drive down to London in it as we will have quite a bit of luggage, but once we arrive we won't really need it. I am actually thinking it might be better to drop it off or have it collected when we get to London on the Friday and then get a taxi to the airport when we fly back to Dubai? Sorry for all the questions, the more I look the more confused I get! I really should just pick something but want to make sure I get something nice in a good location or I will never hear the last of it! <em>edited by Yorky on 24/05/2012</em>

The Greens is a lovely place to live is you decide to go for an apartment but I wouldn't let the 'bugs' put you off looking for a villa. Yes you can get some ants and cockroaches but we have never had any problems and you can still get them in apartments.

last year we booked through Prime Travel in AR and they were very helpful and competitive on price. This year they couldn't match the price so we booked flights direct with Emirates and booked the resort on Agoda.com. If you are looking for all inclusive I would highly recommend Lily Beach.

I might have some spare vouchers if you need them as we have the Rotana membership so don't need the entertainer vouchers. Yorky - will be keen to trade vouchers with you for 1 Prego voucher on Friday! Let me know if you'll be out and about daytime next few days. Now I'm thinking I should get one of those Entertainer Books - worth it I suppose?? We have the HSBC Entertainer Books which has vouchers to quite a few restaurants too... which is why we're trying to put off getting another book ... hmm... We love Pregos, food and service has always been consistanly very good. our favorites......well can't really think of anything that we haven't liked! The complementary bread and cheese is delicious. For starters they have a great selection of cured ham (if you eat ham?). I usually have the smoked duck pasta for main which is lovely but the OH really likes the duck breast served with poached pears. They also do some really nice steaks and they normally have a seasonal menu available. I might have some spare vouchers if you need them as we have the Rotana membership so don't need the entertainer vouchers.

there are so many great places to stay in London. what is your budget as this is key to where you will be able to stay. We only need a double room as its only the two of us. Budget would be upto 1500 dirhams per night, so hopefully we can get something nice for that? I know it will be busy at the end of August which is why I am trying to plan something now.

Thanks Fairfield. I am also trying to convince the OH to spend a few nights in London while we make the annual trip back home! I think we will only manage to get two or three nights there which is why I thought something close to the Big Bus Tour would be better but I will have a look at the places you have suggested.

We love Lily Beach! We went in August last year and April this year and had fantastic holidays both times. I think December gets quite busy so you might want to start checking availability early.

We have been three times, once in August and twice in April. All three times we have had rain but only short down pours and within a hour or so it's usually dry and sunny again. There is a greater chance of rain during the summer months but the temperature does not vary much throughout the year. Our last two visits have been to Lily Beach which is lovely and is an all inclusive island. We normally book flights direct with Emirates and book the hotel through Agoda (usually works out cheaper this way) I would also recommend looking at the Maldives forum on trip advisor to help with your questions.

If you want to eat before the theatre then I would book in advance so you get to eat at the time that suits you. Most of the restaurants are child friendly and none of them are far to walk to the theatre. Not sure what food you are looking for but I would suggest The Meat Company, Noodle House, Japengo, and there is an Italian but I can't remember the name! If you have the entertainer books you will find vouchers in them for most of the restaurants.

Irene21 recommended Medzo but if you are planning on taking the kids, maybe call first. My friends and I were turned away as I had my 1yr old DD with us. Not sure if their policy extends to older children. I think I read somewhere that they don't allow children under 12 years but as you say best to check first.

Keratin is NOT a conditioning treatment. It is a chemical hair straightener that is marketed as a treatment. Do not be fooled! kerastraight and Keratin are different products. The kerastraight treatment does not contain formaldehyde.

Hi ladies! I have naturally wavy/ curly hair. Would the keratin treatment completely straighten it? Not sure I want to go from waves to pin straight flat hair. Kerastraight will not completely straighten the hair it is a conditioning treatment that smooths and repairs the hair. For anyone considering this treatment I would book a consolation at a decent hairdressers and get them to explain the details and give you a price. Its not cheap but I am happy with the results and will get it done again without a doubt.

I've only been once and I really enjoyed it. It's not a cheap place to eat but the food quality was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I think you can view the menu and prices on their website so maybe worth a look before you go. We went when it was cool enough to sit outside and had a wonderful lunch, not sure if I would go for an evening meal because it is a casual / family type of restaurant.

Oman is a lovely place to visit, we have been a few times for long weekend breaks. We usually stay at the Crowne Plaza. The prices are usually reasonable and the location is perfect.

It's a conditioning treatment that smooths and repairs the hair. I have naturally wavy hair if I don't blow dry it straight but after having the kerastraight treatment I can wash my hair and leave it to dry naturally and it's pretty much straight. There is no way I could have done that before it would dry into a wavy, frizzy mess! I do use the hairdryer most days but my hair is in much better condition so it doesn't need much styling. so which salon you preferred? i heard Salon Ink does kerastraight as well. Both are very good but I prefer the staff at Ted Morgan

I've had Kerastraight done three times in Dubai. Twice at Pastels (Ritz JBR) and once at Ted Morgans at Motorcity. I am happy with the results and it lasts approx 4 months. I can't remember the exact price but it's somewhere in the region of 1200 to 1500 dhs. You normally have a consultation first so they can give you a price based on the length of your hair. I know it's expensive but personally find it worth it as my hair is in much better condition, far less frizzy even when it is humid and I no longer have to use my straighteners (which I did everyday before).

Is it still under guarantee? if so you should contact the place where you bought it from. If not I would google the manufacturer or go to one of there stores and get the customer service number. We had a problem with our LG washing machine (out of guarantee), called into the branch at Ibn Battuta Mall and got the service center number. We called them while we were in the mall and they arrived within 2 hours (on a Saturday) and had to wait 15 minutes because we had not returned home yet! I was expecting endless phone calls and having to send my laundry out for at least a week. They did take our machine away for repair but returned it within 5 days as promised. Someone might recommend a washing machine repair man but I find going back to the supplier has worked for us.
