If you think he has food poisoning get him to a doctor this morning. You could report this to the municipality, I don't have the contact details but I am sure someone else can help. You could also consider putting in a formal complaint with the hotels F&B manager.

I only use vanish (because it works on most things!) I don't have children but the OH keeps me busy with the washing! I sometimes wonder why he always buys white t-shirts and shirts, but then again I always keep a good supply of vanish so by the time they are back in his wardrobe they are as good as new!

best thing we've found for bites is a gel called After Bite Extra - not sure if you can get it here though - DH obtained it. I've ordered more off Amazon UK as its brilliant stuff. After Bite Extra is the best thing I have ever found for mozzie bites but only ever managed to buy it here once :(

To be shorter. 5ft 11 and feel like a giant. Clothes shopping here a nightmare :( I'd swap heights with you if I could! I was going to write the one thing I'd like to do is add 4 or 5 inches to my height. I'm 5'6", would love to be tall. 5'6" is tall (well to some of us it is!) :)

I haven't used them myself but I am sure there are vouchers in the family Entertainer book for off road driving lessons.

Thanks for the replies, did you book directly through the hotels or you got a package from Dubai with flights included? Last year we got a great deal through the travel agents in AR but this year they were much more expensive so I have booked the flights directly with Emirates and the resort through Agoda.com

Lily Beach is great...was there in Dec...Platinum All Inclusive Plan, so all drinks and food included (wide range of cocktails/premium spirits), even mini-bar in the room is included with soft drinks, water, beer and wine and 2 excursions too. The Water Villas are lovely and it had a great house reef....really enjoyed it! P.S. March may be a tall order, as it's still high-season and lots of resorts get booked up many months in advance...but worth giving it a go! Oreo - there are quite a few All-Inclusive resorts in The Maldives.... edited by chizz on 21/01/2012 Another vote for Lily Beach :) We went last year and loved it, so much so that we are going back again in April. The all inclusive plan is excellent, and the food and drinks available are good quality throughout the resort.

Some of the resorts in the Maldives are family friendly with kids clubs. it's only a 4 hour flight and definately the place to put your feet up, relax and enjoy the sun.

I was also a very satisfied customer of Bridge Cleaning before it closed down. I had some contact with Kirsty just before Christmas and she had hoped her new business would be up and running very shortly after that, but I haven't heard anything else. I cannot face going through sourcing another maid agency for exactly the reasons you've given so I am desperately hoping that her new company will be up and running soon. I am also holding on until she gets up and running again but its coming up to 3 months and I really need to get someone soon. Unfortunately Kirsty isnt responding to texts or email so I am assuming she still doesnt know when the new company will be ready to operate :(

We have done both. I usually price up the holiday myself and then ask a travel agent to price the same holiday and then I go with the cheapest. Last year the travel agent came up with a package that was over 1000 dhs cheaper than I could find booking myself but this year they were over 5000 dhs more expensive than the prices I have found. Agoda.com is a good website for competitive hotel prices. Unfortunately if you want to fly direct you don't have much choice with flights, it Emirates from Dubai or Etihad from Abu Dhabi.

Hi Bird, we visited for the first time last July, we rented a lively villa with pool at Aphrodite Hills directly from the owners, a really helpful British Couple, and it was fantastic. Overlooking the golf course, husband played daily, restaurants on site, supermarket also there but little pricey or a 10 minute drive for more competitive prices if you want to do your own bbqing. We were 25 mins from Paphos, lovely beaches and other cultural activities. 25 minute drive up into the Trudos mountains. We loved it so much we booked to go back again this year. I can give you the link to the villa if you're interested. 2 bedroom, maid once a week, the owners send you a cery comprehensive list of rearaurants in the area, places of interest etc, can highly recommend it :) Hi Sophie, can you post the link please, or I can leave my email address if you prefer? Thanks :)

Channels in Media Rotana have an Asian night and there are vouchers in the Entertainer. The vouchers do not include alcohol but they will let you pay the difference between the two packages so still works out a cheap night out. Also at Media Rotana the Terrace have just started a Thursday night Asian buffet outside by the pool. I think that is about 200 dhs including alcohol. There is also Toshi at Grand Millenium which is also approx 200 dhs including alcohol.

Arabian Ranches also have group lessons for ladies. If you send them an email I am sure they will reply with all the details. I think they also hold a coffee morning in the Baker Finch room so that might be a good way to meet who want to play.

Thanks so much for the suggestions... I'll keep it in mind if the latest possibility doesn't work out! Considering 25/55 down at the yacht club... they are open long hours. Would any of you ladies recommend it? Do any of you know if there are vouchers for them in the Entertainer this year? for some reason the ent website doesn't understand a hash :) Yes there are vouchers in the Entertainer

How about one of those boats? Either a 2 hour cruise, ending someplace near to a dinner venue, or having dinner served aboard? There was a deal on Cobone recently (still might be active), 660 dhs for a 1 hour cruise for a maximum of 15 people and you can buy multiple vouchers to extend the trip. You can take your own drinks on board and you could get food arranged too.

I can only think of one hotel in Jebel Ali and that's the Jebel Ali Resort and Spa. They have quite a few nice restaurants, not sure about all the opening times but the Sports Cafe has a nice outside seating area overlooking the Marina and that is open all day.

They are also considering banning P0rk and alcohol. The tourist industry will not survive if they go ahead with all these new laws. I have been following the news on this for the past week and it looks like the hotels will get exemptions. I really hope they do, we have a holiday booked for April and I am considering canceling if it doesn't get sorted out.

Can you recommend anywhere specific? Thanks so much for everything already :) Really depends what you are looking for. Do you know what type of food you want? What time will you want to eat? I know you have specified a time frame but some restaurants will stop service after lunch until 6.30 - 7.00pm

The owner of Spring Collection is trying to sort this out with Emaar and if he isn't successful he said he would open the business up with a new sponsor. I think all the banned companies had the same sponsor and there have been some problems with outstanding fines? We had to cancel them a few weeks ago but we are waiting until after the new year to see if they get this sorted before we get someone else. In the past two weeks we have had at least six new companies knock on our door looking for business, I wonder if security have told them who we were using?
