Did anyone hear yesterday's Dubai Eye Breakfast chat with Marcus Gent from Friends Provident? I didn't hear it, was it regarding regulatory changes within Dubai? Standard Life have been forced to close their office and cancel all policies due to the changes. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/490c1c70-65cd-11e4-898f-00144feabdc0.html#axzz3JP5uPrMb

I've gone for the books again just because we have multiple visitors next year and find the paper vouchers easier for them to use especially when they go out by themselves. If I decide to purchase another book later in the year I might get the app as I do use it now for the monthly and new offers and its worked well at the outlets which I have tried.

Time Out did a feature on Christmas brunches this week, if you can't get hold of a copy the information should be on the website. Quite a few of the popular ones are already fully booked so I would suggest making a shortlist soon. <em>edited by Yorky on 17/11/2014</em>

It's good - tells you how much money you've saved and saves you lugging the book around with you. I can't remember where I was last week but they would only accept the book and not the app which is not ideal. You should inform the Entertainer as I think all vendors had to agree to accept the paper vouchers and the app starting this year. There was a lot of confusion at the start of the year but it shouldn't be an issue now. I have found their customer service team very helpful in the past.

I remember that happening a few years ago too. Do they still only sell it in Sheffield / Yorkshire? Just been on their site and it gives you a list of suppliers http://www.hendersonsrelish.com/wheretobuy.htm Most seem to be in Yorkshire but there are a couple down south as well. You can have it shipped out but its very expensive! I'm sure I have enough stock to last until I'm next home. If we start running low I will ration it!! :)

If it was me I would try and find out what time the main acts are on stage (if thats the only reason for going). I know its an all day event (2pm until midnight?) and I imagine in the afternoon it will be a nice environment but if the main acts come on stage at 10pm I imagine not so kid / family friendly. One of the packages on sale is brunch for 4 hours all food and drink included starting at 2pm. Imagine the state of some people who carry on drinking until midnight! That said its the first Party in the Park event and I hope its a success.

I used one of the free hotel vouchers this year for the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr and got a fantastic rate. The book prices have increased every year for the past few years but I still think you can save the cost of the book by only using a few vouchers. Also in previous years I think they only gave 10% discount for purchasing early.

I've not been to a brunch on New Years Day but in previous years there have been plenty advertised. I know some places are starting to advertise their festive packages but some are still planning them. I imagine they are just like any other brunch, only with several people nursing a hangover if they have been out the night before!

I'm resurrecting this one - did anyone go for Christmas Brunch in Dec 2013? If so how was it? I'm looking for a venue for this year. Thank you. I didn't but if I was to stay here I would do either: The Ivy or Reform :) HTH We did The Ivy a few years ago and it was excellent, this year we are trying Reform :)

Bisto gravy granules are available in Geant in Arabian Ranches and I'm sure they had some in Spinneys Motor City last week. Bisto Best usually comes in a glass jar, mainly onion flavour or occasionally you can get beef, chicken or veg

Thanks for the replies. My lashes are quite long so I wanted to give it a try but would prefer a recommendation for a good technician! I think Chi Nail Spa have started doing them but I don't know anyone who has used them for this. Hopefully someone can give some recommendations :)

I have read a few articles about LVL lashes and I am considering trying it but would love to hear any feedback from anyone who has had this done especially in Dubai. I'm not looking for false eyelashes so thought this might be easier to maintain? Also the results should last 6 weeks? TIA :)

If you type in hairdressers in the search engine you will find lots of previous threads on this subject. Finding the right hairdresser is a very personal experience but there are good ones out there. Hopefully you can make a shortlist of ones in the area which is convenient for you.

Also at some venues there isn't much difference in price between the different packages. I've been to one which was only 50 Dhs extra for the drinks package so not worth buying one or two drinks separately.

So we have the Entertainer Fine Dining book and I do go on a print off the monthly offers when they interest us. What I want to know is does the app work in retailers? I've downloaded the app to my tablet and see there are lots of other offers available. When you redeem the voucher is it expecting you to print an hard copy or do the restaurant need to see your tablet Cheers If you want to redeem a voucher from the app you select the relevant voucher and you will be asked to enter a four digit code which you set up when registering. Once you have entered this the retailer also has to enter a code and then they will apply the discount to your bill. I have the books but I have also downloaded the app and use it for the monthly offers and never had any issues using them. The only thing was once they wanted to take my phone to the cashier to enter the code but I wasn't comfortable letting them take my phone so I asked for them to come to our table. It wasn't an issue and all handled very efficiently.

The picnic brunch at Al Badia Golf Course is lovely. I received an email advertising this brunch earlier today, it looks like a different option. Do they also have cooking station or do you just get the picnic basket?

Did Brunch at Anantara a few Fridays ago. Good selection of food, a section for Chinese & Thai, another for Indian, an outside BBQ and plenty of desserts. However, the roast beef was tough. A duo was playing a bit too loudly and we weren't sitting that close to it!! Obviously too hot to sit outside when we went and if we went again would ask to be seated on the terrace. We took advantage of their half-price offer but not sure if I would pay full price for it. Thanks for the feedback :)

Thanks ladies. The visitor is my SIL. I havent seen her in a few years so we are hardly close. We definitely dont expect any guest to pay for groceries etc and we usually pay for EVERYTHING when our parents are over. In this case, I am referring to dinners and lunches out and sighseeing for eg, she asked me to book the burj khalifa at the top in advance etc. We will most probably have brunches too. I find it difficult to ask for money so was just wondering how you go about asking for bills to be split or to be re-imbursed. We wont be left out of pocket as we can afford it but just wondering, do I really want to pay for her holiday? :-/ Why don't you send a link to the Burj Khalifa tickets and say which day / time do you want as they are priced differently. Once booked you can also send the email booking confirmation, this way it is clear you have paid. Also for brunches you could email a few options with prices and ask which she would prefer. I'm not saying she will offer to pay or split the bills but it opens up the conversation as to the cost of things before she arrives.

Depends who the visitor is but regardless I don't expect anyone to contribute to the shopping for home, including all drinks. For very close family we treat them to several meals out but for friends we tend to split the bills. I really don't mind treating guests but if you have several each year I feel its unfair to pick up the bill all of the time. I love seeing freinds and family but I cannot justify spending huge amounts everytime someone comes to stay. When I go home I stay in a hotel and hire my own car. I don't expect anyone to take me out and pay for my meals.

I went to Al muna last weekend and Tbh, I was very disappointed . It's a lot of money for cheap Italian sparkling wine. It was so hot , even inside ! Ice cream tasted like yogurt, or off ! Lobster tails were over cooked, and really mushy inside, prawns were tasteless. I tried the brunch at Jumeriah Zabeel Saray last year and it was fantastic, first class champagne , excellent food, and a lovely setting. Latitude at Jumeriah beach hotel also serves Moët and the food is Brilliant. Thats a shame. I love Al Muna in the winter for the setting but must admit I haven't been since late last year. It was when the Mexican restaurant opened and I didn't think the food on offer at brunch was anything like as good as when it was the Wharf. I prefer sitting in Al Muna but I also think they have added lots of extra tables which makes it feel a bit cramped.

Ladies, I'm looking for suggestions on brunch venues which have nice outdoor seating areas. It's for a get together in a few weeks so wanting to take advantage of the cooler weather. I have done some research and there looks to be quite a few new brunches, or at least since the last time we did one. Has anyone tried the brunch at Anantara, Waldorf Astoria or Fairmont the Palm? TIA :) Al Muna at the Mina Salam and there is a voucher in The Entertainer ( only one though) Al Qasr We like Al Muna, great setting when the weather is cooler but wondering if we should try soemwhere new.

I have used several different vouchers from the body book and never had any issues using the free treatment at a later date. When you book the first appointment let them know you are using an Entertainer voucher and hand it over when you arrive. You will need to pay for this treatment in full and the next one will be free. You can make an appointment for the next one while you are there or alternatively they give a receipt noting one free treatment pending.
