Have you tried calling them? According to Google their number is 04 390 5755. edited by Madge_Gustard on 16/05/2014 Yes I did but got no answer which is why I asked on here, hopefully any of the ladies that visit that area might know if they have reopened.

Spinneys at Motor City had some a few days ago. They were just stocking the shelves when I arrived so maybe the delivery just arrived.

Thanks everyone for the help, I went to the OnTime typing centre in Knowledge village today. I arrived just before 6pm and there were plenty of parking spaces right outside building 12 (free parking after 6pm). There was no one in the typing office so the whole process took less than 10 minutes. It cost 370 Dhs for the ID card renewal and they had no issues changing my name on the application. Once I have had my medical and the new visa has been issued they said I will receive the new ID card (can take up to 3 weeks).

Ladies, can anyone advise where there is an Emirates ID office in the new Dubai area with a typing centre? I believe you can now renew your ID card online but I also need to change my name so I am assuming I will need to visit one of the offices? If anyone can help with a location or has recently done the same and can confirm all the documents required it would be much appreciated. Thanks :) You cannot change the name. EID is connected to your visa, which is connected to your immigration file and the name will not change even if your name is now different because of your marriage lets say. How does that work though? My visa expires next week and I will get a new one processed in my new name but to start the process I need to renew my ID card, surely they can update my name to reflect what is in my passport?

If you want somewhere near Arabian Ranches try Ted Morgan. I've used them ever since they opened up in Motor City and they are great. I've had three different stylist, I only changed because they moved salon and I didn't want to travel to get my hair done. In all honestly the lady that does my hair now is the best of the three but I had no complaints with the other two! I would also suggest trying the salon in the Arabian Ranches golf club, Marquee, I had a free blow dry and the staff were very good. They complemented me on my colour, didn't pressure into buying anything or making an appointment.

I went to Knowledge Village about a month ago and parking was horrendous. I drove around for an hour....decided to go back home. :( Its great though if you have someone to drop you off and drive around the parking lot until you're done! Fingers crossed if I go after work the parking will not be as bad

I got my typing done and Emirates ID renewed at OnTime, they have locations at JBR opposite the Sheraton and another at knowledge village. I was in and out within 20 mins. JBR location closes at 6pm and think KV is 7 or 8pm. edited by skyhighgirl on 13/05/2014 Thank you, think I will try Knowledge Village tomorrow. Can you remember which building it was? Should I go straight to the typing center first? (Sorry, can't remember doing that last time)

There is an ID centre in Al Barsha, Hessa St, which is always very quiet in the ladies section. I think the closest typing centre is closer to MoE, Al Darwish, near the Ramada Chelsea hotel/NBD bank corner. HTH Thanks Cherry ripe, I've used the one at Al Barsha in the past and was sure they had a typing section (I got everything done in the same building) but apparently not any longer. I am really struggling for time and hoping there is another location that does both? I will be going after work or finishing a little early so wanted to avoid driving all over.....if that's possible!

I was actually looking for a mid range brunch (300-400) with a full range of cuisines and alcohol - but not necessarily to include champagne as I appreciate this ups the price. We have first time visitors in dubai and thought it best to make sure of a range of both drinks and food. What about 971 in the oberoi - anyone done that brunch? 971 was on our list of brunches to try for a long time but when we tried it earlier this year we were both quite disappointed. Staff and service was okay but food was very average. We used a voucher so only paid for one brunch but at full but at full price there are many other brunches far better for the same money.

Make sure you have them taken on the correct background, not only the correct size. I had mine taken in Dubai at a Kodak store and said UK passport which is grey background. I travelled to London to renew my passport and they said the photos were not acceptable, background was too light. Luckily they have a couple of photo booths in the passport office and they allow you to get new ones and submit the same day but if you send them off I guess it would cause a lot of delays.

I am sure you can apply for a new passport whenever you want. I was filling out the application form yesterday evening and recall something about applying at anytime. u can apply anytime but they will not give you back any "unused" time apart from 9 months! we ran out of pages in a newish passport maybe 3 years old so we lost 7 years - 9 months Yes that is true, I didn't explain very well. I was referring to the fact that if you have travel plans you can apply at anytime to ensure you have a new passport in time. I will also lose a couple of years from my old passport when I renew but I need to get a new one so just have to live with it.

There are some very valid points raised which you should think about before making a final decision and you should also consider if you already have outstanding debts which need to be paid off each month (loans, credit cards, mortgage?) Also if you own a property in your own country do you intend to rent it out? If so you need to be prepared to cover expenses for repairs / maintenance, an agent to manage it and at times the potential of not having a tenant in and therefore no rental income. If your husbands company will not provide your medical cover make sure you budget for this but consider not everything is covered, especially some dental care. We have decent medical cover but I still ended up paying over 10k for dental work last year.

Highly recommended, fabulously written, funny, sad the full shebang He comes across as a wonderful man! I downloaded it a few weeks ago but not had chance to read it yet. I just finished John Bishops book and he comes across as really down to earth. Can't wait to see him next month.

I used them a while ago for fixing the air con but 10 minutes after they left it broke. I called numerous times but they never answered. When I called from a different number they answered so obviously avoiding my call. Very poor customer service and i wouldn't use them again.

You're right Yorky, it will still be a Rhodes restaurant - I read an interview with him where he stated that Mezzanine had become too much of an 'occasional' restaurant (which it definitely was for us!) and he is going for a more relaxed setting. It was due to open in the new year but obviously that hasn't happened yet! I wonder what the delay is? I know his restaurant in Abu Dhabi is being advertised a lot so maybe he is concentrating on that. This was also the first year that he didn't attend the Taste of Dubai festival, but then again I'm not sure if any of the Grosvenor House restaurants did this year.

There are many groups on Facebook that work much better than Dubizzle for selling quality items. One is called "pre loved Dubai" , once you join that you will get other relevant group suggestions too. Many area classified groups as well, like silicon, midriff, jolt, marina, discovery gardens..... Hope this helps Thank you, I will take a look

Rhodes Mezzanine has been closed for a while now. I thought it was being refurbished and opening as a more casual restaurant and bar but still under the 'Rhodes' brand? Does anyone know when it's due to open?

Hi, All of the golf courses will offer lessons for a beginner so if you have no preference maybe pick a club which is closet to home / easiest for you to get there for lessons and practice. I took it up a couple of years ago and booked a package of six or ten lessons. They provide all of the equipment in the lessons so no need to buy everything until you are comfortable that it's a sport you want to continue with. Some clubs also offer group lessons but due to me working I took the individual lessons in the evenings as it was more convenient. I did mine at Arabian Ranches but similar packages are available at other clubs.

There are lots of serviced apartments in Tecom which isn't too far from the Ranches and will be well within your budget. For a short term let it would be easier if you get furnished.

DH's favourites: Fish Fingers and Salad Cream Peanut Butter and Salad Cream Mashed Potato and Salad Cream (you can a Salad Cream theme here!). I love salad cream but the peanut butter and salad cream combo is just so wrong! I'd have no problem eating the other two but don't think I will be trying the peanut butter anytime soon!

If he doesn't earn much maybe he cannot afford to move out so easily which is why he is refusing? It's difficult to advise as I don't know how bad the situation is, but if you think the space for a few weeks would help maybe discuss renting a serviced apartment for one month for him, and make sure he sees his child, then work out where you go from there?

I recently got married and had the bridesmaid dress made by Barbaranne at Moirai Style. http://moiraistyle.com/ I gave her a picture of the dress and she made it exactly how we wanted it. I also had a evening dress made for myself and both were very well made. I'm sure she would be able to help you out, there is also a Facebook page. Back home I ate lots of yogurt but don't like the ones in the supermarkets here so the yogurt maker sounds like a good idea but once you make a batch how long does it last? Just wondering if it's worthwhile for just one person?

The thong bit that goes between the toes has split. Can they be replaced with new ones? I thought I saw kids' Havianas with a selection of the plastic thongs in different colours you can change so wondered if they did them for adults? I'm sure I saw them in the Madinat shop. TIA! Not replaced for new! But they will fix the thong bit for you, free of charge, as they are suppose to be life long guaranteed, just go back to the store you bought them from. No receipt required! Hth Shame I didn't know that when my favourite pair broke, I didn't want to part with them!!

Constance Moofushi has one of the better AI packages, though it is likely in a similar price bracket to Lily Beach. The most comprehensive AI is Park Hyatt. It is expensive, but if you're a UK passport holder they are doing some great deals. Try Simply Maldives or Purely Maldives for pricing. A more basic AI package, but very good value for money is Komandoo. It is an over 18s resort though. Thanks for the suggestions. I think I looked at Constance Moofushi and that is the same price as Lily Beach, I just don't see how they can now justify over 1000 Dhs extra per night from less than 2 years ago, but as everything else prices just keep going up. Have you stayed at Komandoo? When you say more basic is that the quality of food and drink? I do fall into the over 18 catagery though so that's one to consider :)

try the travel agent cathy that the girls use we booked Meeru stunning x How did you rate the all inclusive? Do you get a good selection of drinks and a choice of restaurants? I'm worried about taking an all inclusive package that has too many restrictions. The one at Lily Beach includes everything, including the mini bar so no hidden extras. You can take special dinner packages but there is really no need as everything included is very good. I've seen the travel agent mentioned so I will look up her details. Thanks :)

I'm looking for recommendations for good all inclusive resorts in the Maldives. I'm a big fan of Lily Beach (been twice) but every time I look the rates are at least 1000 Dhs per night more than we paid a couple of years ago. Even selecting dates in low season doesn't reduce the rate very much and as much as I like the place I cannot justify the extra cost (the resort hasn't been upgraded so we would be paying for the exact same room and package). Can anyone suggest any other resorts that offer good all inclusive packages? TIA :)

It depends what times you need to drop off / pick up your DS, if it's within 30 minutes of your start and finish time then I would say it might be difficult. I'm not familiar with rush hour traffic in Jumeirah but I am sure some areas have worse bottlenecks than others but you should also consider where in the Free zone you will be working. Both me and my DH work inside the Free zone but my journey takes an extra 15 minutes because I have further to travel once I get inside. Could you do a trial run at peak times to give you a better idea?

As you say there are many threads on this topic so it might be worth mentioning which area of Dubai you are willing to travel to then it will narrow down the suggestions. Personally I am a big fan of Ted Morgans but I've also had some great blonde highlights and cuts at Pastels. Both have more than one salon so you may find one that suits your location.

I recently bought some from the Madinat shop but don't recall seeing the interchangeable ones but I do remember seeing some in adult sizes in a shoe shop in Ibn Battuta Mall. I don't remember the name of the shoe shop but it was across from Top Shop and Oasis if that helps. I'm not 100% sure if they were Havianas because they had a few different brands.

I'm not sure how they made the announcement but it does apply to all tickets purchased after 1st March. We travelled with them during April but luckily we bought our tickets back in October so the new rules did not apply. It will certainly make us think if taking golf clubs is worth the extra cost. Just as a rough guide the set of golf clubs we took weighed almost 14kg.....you could possibly reduce this if you take out extra golf balls and have a lighter/smaller bag but it won't make a huge difference.

We thought it was absolutely amazing! one of the best AI's we have been to in a long time, facilities are also top notch, so much so I have recommended it to all family and friends hopefully they will get the hint ;-) Is it really AI when you get there or are there many hidden extras to pay for? It is advertised with something like 14 bars / restaurants, can you use any of them on the AI plan? I would like to give it a try but we will not get chance for a few months. The introductory price is 1800 Dhs so I wonder what it will go up to after the soft opening period.
