Use Careem, they are very reliable, plus safer than letting your child travel with a stranger.

We always use MPlus, they usually come out the same day. The only issue is if replacement parts are not in stock it takes a few days to source and then come back and finish the repairs. We used Al Hilal after recommendations on here and they were very unproffesional. They said the repairs were complete but within hours of them leaving they AC broke again. They said they would come back but never did and they also refused to answer my telephone calls. I can only asume they didn't know how to fix it.

My OH just had some items made at Royal Fashion (mens tailors). He was very happy with the quality, service and price. They had a good selection of materials, all different quality and price. We used the branch in Souk Madinat but I do believe they have shops in other locations too. For ladies items I have used a tailor at Motor City who was good but only for alterations not new pieces. I was there a few weeks ago and they had a price list for new items which looked reasonable but obviously depends on the style/design. They are loacted in the same building as Ted Morgan (first floor). I have had evening dresses made and I can give you the contact details but not sure if that is what you are looking for (also more expensive than your Satwa tailors)

thank you. i've never used booking.com or agoda ... always so cautious of these online sites (or perhaps just stuck in old school ways of using an agent / booking directly with the resort & airline). thanks again We also used a travel agent the first time we went to Lily Beach and they also added the sea plane transfers to the booking automatically. Enjoy, its a wonderful place :)

quick question to the ladies who've been to lily beach: did you book your seaplane from here or are they so readily available that you could just hop on it when you arrive in male? sorry to hi-jack your thread katnip You should book before you arrive. I have been twice, it's one of my favourite places and hope to return again one day :) I booked our last stay via Agoda.com and they automatically added the sea plane charges to the booking. HTH

do you think it is best to rent or buy? I really cant see the difference between the springs and AR? I think the villas in Arabian Ranches are newer and generally better maintained than the ones in The Springs. When looking at different locations you need to consider the commute time for work and also if you want to be close to public transport, shops etc. Regarding renting or buying that really depends on your financial situation and how long you intend to stay in Dubai.

Truly the Entertainer app is a waste!!! went to Asha's at MOE today and they said that they do not accept the app and only the printed vouchers! this is ridiculous! Entertainer makes you buy something and then changes the terms mid way... why have i paid AED 400 for this app then? Make sure you inform the Entertainer because all outlets should accept both. If they are aware of the problem they will follow up with the restaurant. I have had several issues with vouchers this year but the customer service team have been quick to respond and find a solution to the problem. I do wonder how the app will work next year if many outlets continue to refuse accepting the app.

Just as u head over the big sh zayed bridge you turn off and you will see a new hotel on your right called annatara. If u walk through the hotel there's the mangroves and several little restaurants outside. They are not part of the hotel but it's a nice place to sit and you can go on a mini boat ride around the mangroves. Just follow signs for waitrose in the car park. That sounds like a good idea :) Thanks

This might be a silly question so apologies in advance :) If I purchased my ticket before the 1st March for travel after the 1st March can I still take golf clubs free of charge, or does the statement from Emirates refer to all travel on or after the 1st March is subject to this change? From the Emirates website - For tickets issued on or after 1st March 2014, a golf bag may be carried as part of your free checked baggage allowance and will be subject to excess baggage charges if overweight.

Good Afternoon, Does anyone know if you can purchase excess baggage with your air miles and if so how many air miles per kg is it.? Sorry cant seem to find the answer and as you now don't have golf clubs included this new rule will mean even more excess baggage when I return home in the summer. Might be cheaper to throw away some stuff and buy again! Thanks for any help. So you can no longer take your golf clubs free of charge? Is this applicable on all Emirates flights? Do you know approx how much they will charge for them? Thanks

No you cannot take any alcohol into the Maldives. Your suitcases and hand luggage will be x-rayed before leaving the customs area and they will confiscate it. If I remember correctly there are lots of signs up in the airport regarding this so I wouldn't risk it.

Hi yorky, I went the other day and had Bernice. Very happy with the results, felt very pampered too. I've got blonde hair but have highlights, this is the first salon here that I feel have done a really good job and not given me a yellow blonde. I had a cut too, and she did exactly as I asked. I would definitely go back. As it's part of the same group as the nail spa you can get your mani/ped done at the same time too. That's good to know, I was really impressed with the service and think I might give them a try for the cut and highlights. The lady I had was very nice and didn't try and hard sell any products or pressure me into making any other appointments which you may expect when receiving a complimentary wash and blow dry. I am a big fan of the Nail Spa as they really focus on customer service and all of the salons are well designed and clean so hopefully the hair salon follows suit.

So many choices, really depends on budget, number of days and what you like to do. There are many places within the UAE that feel like a million miles away from the city if you only want a few nights away. Also as mentioned by the other posters there is Ziggy Bay, or a little further there are some wonderful hotels in Oman. If you want to travel further and want a total chill out I would highly recommend the Maldives. Emirates and Fly Dubai fly direct and there are lots of resorts to suit many different budgets. Enjoy wherever you decide :)

I haven't been in since the refurb but The Dhow & Anchor allow children in the restaurant area and outside on the terrace. They used to have a big screen up outside for the football games. The Ranches restaurant has plenty of tv's showing different sports and there are always plenty of children around. Girders at the Ocean View Hotel has recently opened a beer garden which allows children until 6 or 7pm and they show sports on a big screen.

Did you report it to security? Someone sitting in the park on their own isn't a crime but if you had good reason to question his behaviour and then see him looking into other peoples gardens I think that is a good enough reason to report it.

Yes there are two Hilton hotels in RAK. The Hilton Resort & Spa is the biggest with its own private beach. Its a very nice hotel with several swimming pools, bars and restaurants. The other is further in town and is usually much cheaper but I think they provide a shuttle bus to the Resort & Spa so you can use their facilities. I also think another hotel near Al Hamra is also rebranding as a Hilton hotel soon.

Depending on when you are going I would suggest Nomad at Jumeirah Creekside hotel for an outdoor brunch. They had lots of activities for the children plus they can feed the ducks on the pond. It had a good mix of families and groups when I went but not a drunken brunch. Lovely setting when the weather is nice to sit outside, food and service was also very good.

Definitely the Hilton Resort & Spa, lovely hotel. They also have a sale on at the moment so if you book before the 31st January you can get some great deals (valid for weekend stays throughout the year). Also a few of the restaurants are in the blue Entertainer book.

When do you need it made for? I am doing something similar but haven't had it made yet so cannot really recommend the dressmaker until I see the finished product. If you can wait until the end of Feb I would happily give you some feedback. You might also want to check the dresses on Abela's Bridal boutique website as she can make them to measure and there is a large selection.

There are always prices variances between stores all over Dubai for the same product so it's difficult to give a yes or no answer. I use the store at Arabian Ranches and also Spinneys at motor city and I haven't noticed any significant increase between the two. For example tonight I have called to buy just bread and milk and that is exactly the same price as I would have paid in Spinneys. Tomorrow I might go to the store in Arabian Ranches and buy fillet steak which I know for sure is more expensive than Spinneys but it's also far better quality (in my opinion) so I don't mind the extra cost.

I had an excellent experience with The Wedding Shop and I was really amazed with the price of the dress that I picked. They were very helpful and had lots of different styles to try on. I would also recommend looking at the website for Abela's Bridal Boutique. The lady who owns this is based in Dubai and she will take the measurements and have any of the dresses made within a few weeks.

If they are coming next month I would try and take advantage of the cooler weather and go for somewhere outside which has enough space for the kids to run about. I really liked the Nomad brunch, a great mix of groups and families but not a drunken rowdy brunch (or it wasn't the week we went). They also have some good entertainment and activities for children. You could also consider Beachcombers at JBH. If you book a table outside on the terrace the kids can play infront of you on the beach. The food is mainly asian so depends if that suits you.

The process only takes a few minutes, like the other posters have said it really does depend how many people are ahead of you in the queue.I did mine in MCC and I was finished within 10 minutes, very simple and I had prepared myself to spend hours getting it done! We had people trying to push in but luckily the staff told them to go to the back of the line They used a ticket system when I did mine so you got called to the customer service desk when it was your turn. Unfortunately you always get those that think they are too important to stand in line!

They have several different pools at Jebel Ali. We went last January and they said they were temperature controlled but if its overcast I think it will still feel a bit chilly. All really depends on the weather on the day at this time of the year. There are also 2 swim up bars and 2 beach restaurants for food so plenty of options.

A service? Was there anything wrong with it? I have never heard of sending a dishwasher away for a service ( if all was working okay) but was this something in the purchase agreement? Who is the manufacturer, did they carry out the service, if so I would contact their customer service department via email or telephone and then log all correspondence and demand to speak to someone else in higher management if they cannot help.

Yorky, they do have discount for members. We get the discount everytime. I'm sorry to all but I have to say we have been there numerous times, almost weekly since opening and have never had an issue with food or service. We've enjoyed every visit and are happy to have a new place other than the dark old golf club. Guess we've been lucky! Thanks for letting me know, didnt think discounts would apply as it is not run by the golf club. Think we will try them again this weekend :)

We have been a few times for lunch since they started the full menu and the food is very good. The menu may not be as extensive as some would like but still a decent selection. The quality of the food is really good, which is why we have been back a few times. Overall the food quality, drink selections and setting are all excellent but unfortunately service is still very hit and miss. Hopefully they make some improvements soon as I think this will stop people returning. Prices are also higher than the golf club with no discounts for members so they need to provide decent service to encourage people to come back.
