Does it feel like no matter how much you clean your hands that there is some grey gunk that shows up mysteriously under your nails? Well, you are not alone.
The grey gunk is actually keratin debris from the underside of the nail, in addition to skin cells from the nail bed. If the dirt under your nails is grey, it is pretty harmless and absolutely normal. However, if the dirt is green in colour it means it's bacteria and you could possibly get infected - this is rare and mostly only happens to women who wear artificial nails for extended periods of time.
