Hello
we need to travel to South Africa in July returning in August. To Cape Town to be specific.

Those of you that travel there frequently, can you advise please which is the best airline to travel with? Especially which is usually the cheapest in Business class.(Etihad, Qatar) or is there usually a sale between now and then

My travel companion has serious back issues so we thought of either travelling with Emirates - paying business one way and upgrading with points, or travelling both ways with SA paying business fare (but it is an Emirates flight anyway)

Any airlines we have overlooked?

Do you think at this time of year the flights will be super busy? Wondering what the chances of an upgrade with points will be.

thanks in advance.

Thank you all. Well i found an amazing deal on Expedia - one way business class with SA Airlines (but operated by Emirates)…then back economy with Emirates directly. Whole trip cheaper than a return with Emirates in economy...

July will be middle of winter in SA so its not really peak season but i think the fares don't really change throughout the whole year anyway. Unless its xmas, easter time etc. Then they are crazy expensive It is a popular time of the year as everyone travelling home (South Africans) for the school holidays and also the European's who travel during their summer! A lot of people fly UK - DXB - CT or JHB Just a heads up really aaah i guess so i forgot about the schools!!!! You can see i dont have kids :-)

If you book through SAA its normally cheaper than Emirates fares, but you still fly on an Emirates flight as its code share. But i havent checked that option for a long time so not sure if they've increased their prices since. if you don't mind a layover in Mumbai for a few hours then Jet Airways is possibly the cheapest way to fly to Cape Town from here... so it's Dubai Mumbai and Mumbai Cape Town... when we checked (economy) for July the fares were as follows: Emirates AED 5100/- Jet Airways AED 3700/-
