Our landlord has sent us a letter by email to say he is not renewing our tenancy come 25th February we were under the impression we were to be given 12months notice for this , when we queried it with him first he said its in the addendum part that we got with tenancy contract which does actually say 60days notice which we signed . Does this mean we havnt got a leg to stand on? Should we take it to Rera?

We're leaving the country in less than 2 weeks' time and we are still left with some big furniture items to sell (sofa, bed, table). I'm wondering what to do in case we are unable to sell them as I don't think it will be worth to ship or storage them. :( Hi what type of sofa? and table do you have ? have you put them on classified on EW?

I moved over to the UAE about 3 months ago and have been trying to find a job which will pay enough for me to find my own accommodation or at least my own room. At the moment I am staying with friends which is getting a bit much. I was previously working as a TEFL teacher but am now considering a change in career, at the age of 35, I feel that it is very hard to break into a different industry here. It doesn't help that I am not entirely sure what direction to go in either. I have been thinking about getting some sort of life coach/guidance to help me narrow down my options, but I know these services are not cheep and finances are an issue right now. Does anyone have any good suggestions for me to help find my way again? I am feeling rather low, lost and I don't really want to go back to the UK as my options would be even less there with the recession. I am bilingual in Arabic (which I would have thought would be an asset here). I am sure there are many other ladies out there who are in a similar boat, what did you do to overcome it? Or how do you pick yourself up again and feel confident. I must say, my confidence is at an all time low. Sorry to be sounding all doom and gloom :( Thanks a bunch Hey there Shimsy I was in the same frame of mind not so long ago so I know how you are feeling, I have been here since 5th Jan and its took me till now to find a job , I too were applying for so many and not hearing anything back untill I decided to change type of job I was looking for , I applied for 2 jobs both at GEMS Wellington Schools and got interviews for both in the same week and was offered both why dont you have a look on their website Gems wellington on career page I know the school I will be working in opens brand new on 8th Sept and they are still looking for teaching assistants . Also timing here is so different to UK and you may find that you could be contacted month 2 month down the line for jobs you have applied for in the past, some advertise their vacancies well in advance here. Where are you living?

Thanks Ladies. I am currently at my landlords' office waiting to see his secretary. I am going to ask for all the stuff needed and hopefully this headache will go away. I read on the Ejari website that actually the landlord is supposed to do this. Grrr! Another expense. My DH is in such a bad mood because everywhere they want extra papers and money. What is the purpose of emirates id again?! Your are right there we found the same always more paperwork more forms more typing more money although its all worth it in long run ha ha. Our LL did our Ejari but did try to charge us 400 dhs !!! even though his secretary dropped him right in it and said 200dhs!!

Did they have red on them if you read the article on this website about guide to life in Dubai there is something about a red backed spider it may have been those, was it dusty and dry behind the drawers? as that is what attracts them also if you have a garage may be in there too

Hey there wot sites are you registering on ? have a look on the jobs site on here its updated every week also if you go to GEMS school website on to careers section there are usually jobs on there whether it be admin or teachin assistant, have a look at charterhouse.ue send them your cv and they will contact you to arrange an appt with them find out more about you. Also try dubizzle jobs and gulfjobs, also linkedin can be useful . I came with my husband beginning of Jan as he was made reduntant back home but was offered a job here I left my job got married before we came, I am still looking for jobs I have only had 2 interviews so far one recently in one of the schools and am waiting for a date for another interview at a different school.
