the guys in the antique museum in al quoz do great framing. i was in there once when a lady came in to collect her items one of which was a silk carpet and she was absolutely delighted with it. It looked stunning. Thanks Claire. I'd never heard of this place but plan to go there tonight (if I manage to find it, which, according to threads on EW might turn out to be a challenge in itself):\:

I know there have been threads about good framers, but does anyone have good experience with having a silk carpet framed?

Yeah, but when, when when??? And what until then? I live near the zoo and feel very sorry for the poor animals every single day.

Come on AnonDubai - you can do better than that! She has a face like a smacked a*se. And the layer of foundation on her face... Looks like my weekend breakfast without the Nutella! Oh come on! VB is really pretty. No she's not, she's way too skinny to be even remotely pretty.

My favorite in Beirut would be "the Albergo Hotel". It's in Achrafyie, the okder part of Beirut with many restaurants and shops at walking distance. A a lovely boutique hotel, but quit expensive.

For things to do in Amsterdam, do a search for "Amsterdam". There was a thread on EW last week with plenty suggestions. There are so many hotels in central as stet am, it really depends on your budget. NH Hotels is a chain that springs to mind. It has a few outlets in Amsterdam, and I believe prices are reasonable. Do bear in mind that Amsterdam has the highest room prices in Europe!! As for Belgium: personally I prefer Antwerp and Brugues over Brussels. edited by Oopsiedaisy on 14/05/2012

I am not from Austria, so I cannot comment on the specifics. All things you mention are however very readily available in Austria (don't know about the specific brands). Depending on the area you will be going to the prices will vary (Vienna and Salzburg will be comparable to Dubai, whereas the prices in the little mountain villages tend to be higher due to logistics and lack of competition). Pampers for sure are there. Don't go carrying them with you. You needs loads in 2 weeks. I reckon, it will not be worth the extra baggage and hassle. Have fun, you'll have a great time.

The Netherlands? There was an thread a few days ago with lots of suggestion for Amsterdam and The Hague with children. If you have 2 weeks you could combine it with a few days in Belgium, the coast there is lovely!

It's NOT legal to have a live-out maid on her husband's visa. You will have to sponsor her yourself. We have no timing in her contract, but agreed upon full flexibility. It so depends on your individual situation, when do you need her, how many hours do you need her. How far away from your house does she live.

As far as I'm concerned, nobody is ever out of anybody's league. If there's a connection, it's there, if there isn't...well. That being said I wonder what it is you see in him. Your description of both of your caracters seems miles apart. On the other hand, you have nothing to loose, so take up the invitations to the parties he's likely to attend and go for it.

earlybird.ae are great! There's no charge if you have the delivery during their regular day (Thursday in Umm Suqeim). Any other day they charge 14 AED for delivery within 1 hour. But they don't do fresh, like milk and bread, only soda's, cookies, chips, detergent etc. eta: The laundry people at Mercator (behind Spinneys cash registers) also do pick up and delivery. Don't know their name, I think it is Champion edited by Oopsiedaisy on 13/05/2012

The application form for the (re)new visa should be enough to get the Emiratedps ID done. Then, with the proof op Emirates ID application, you can get the visa processed.

Your DH is a wise man...... Have a drink, and enjoy your weekend. I know you are both right but still.....what's so wrong about expecting common decency? And by letting it go doesn't that just mean he'll do it next time? edited by Catawba KSE on 10/05/2012 Nothing!! But some people are just like that. Even if you don't let go, he will do it again.

Dragon Mart sells flexible rails that can be adjusted to the curves. You can attach them to the wall, or the ceiling, depending on which they will sell you the 'attach thingies'.

I am from The Hague, lovely things to do there as well: 1. Panorama Mesdag, A giant circular painting of the Dutch coast, that makes you feel as if you're in it. 2. Madurodam, a miniature city where landmarks from Holland can all be viewed in a couple of hours. Recently renovated to entertain today's kids in an interactive way.(@Marroosh: it's NOT in Rotterdam) 3. Scheveningen, our beautiful beach 4. Mauritshuis, a lovely small museum with all the Dutch Masters. Because of it's size, you will be able to "do" it within the hour and still give your kids a sense of the old Dutch painters 5. Binnenhof, Vredespaleis 6. Every Thursday there is a nice antiques market on "Lange Voorhout" 7. And don't forget to just get in a tram, and have a ride from city center to the beach. Most kids love it! Enjoy! edited by Oopsiedaisy on 09/05/2012

Ladies, am I the only one to notice that this thread is 3 years old and revived by someone with 2 posts on her name, advertising Homecenter?! :\: I didn't spot the date - but did wonder what made you think she works for HomeCentre? Why would any new poster revive a 3 years old thread out of the blue and answer "red and bold"?

I don't have a problem reporting him if it is a fine as punishment, his behaviour was unjustified, but if it wasn't a fine i.e. Prison then I would struggle to do that if he had children and a wife here. My heart says one thing the head another. As in most other countries, the judges will decide on the punishment. If we start deciding whether or not to turn people in, depending on the punishment they may get, that's the world upside down. So follow your head in this one.

Yes have him in his full glory as clear as day. I wasn't taken pictures, the camera runs video automatically so there was no wreckless driving on my side. I understand in AD that they are encouraging people to take such footage in order to get people. If I knew he had no family here I wouldn't hesitate in handing it over. What does him having family here has to do with it? He didn't seem to care about your DD being in the car.

Yes, so I also heard, but not clear about the details of how that works exactly in practice.......immigration is not going to stamp 2 versions of a contract. edited by Sugarbeach on 04/05/2012 I wonder if the embassy requires a contract stamped by immigration. Wouldn't a contract between sponsor and maid suffice?
