I think it's good for them to try lots of different things during the primary school years and then they can see what they really enjoy. Many schools offer a whole range of things and I always encouraged mine to try a wide variety of things. There are lots of things one or other of them only did for a term ( ice-skating, sailing, tennis, drama) but other things that they have enjoyed and stuck with for years.

Dr Sue Norton at the Dubai Physiotherapy and Family Medicine Centre is excellent and very thorough. 04 3496333 A friend also recently recommended Dr Neil Fell at Health Bay polyclinic.

Is she is sporty she might like to try Stand-up paddle boarding. You can rent these by the hour close to Umm Suqeim public beach (next to JBH)

It was the Qurum Beach Hotel, but reading recent reviews it seems to have gone downhill a bit. IT is cheap and a great location though. One reviewer mentions a better hotel next door but then doesn't give the name. Maybe you can search. It's nice to be able to walk to the beach.

No I haven't. Sorry. We have also stayed in a small hotel along from the end of the public beach but I am racking my brains trying to remember the name of it. Will post again if I do.

I have stayed in the Safeer Hotel Suites several times, although not for a few years now. I have stayed in 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. We had 2 families plus one extra adult in the 3 bedroom apartments (5 adults and 5 children) and we had plenty of room. Some of the beds are huge! The apartments are fine. The beds just had bottom sheets and blankets but we just asked for top sheets and they provided them. The kitchens didn't have much in them but we usually have our camping/picnic stuff with us so we just used that.

If your child has not been to nursery before then be prepared for them to get sick a lot. At Nursery they are exposed to lots of bugs and frequently it takes quite a while for them to build up immunity. I doubt it is going to go down well with your emplyer if you are constantly taking unpaid leave to deal with a sick child. You need to have a back-up plan in place.

I went to Maroon 5 with my teens at DWTC and no issues. Not sure whether a comedy show would have an age restriction due to possible unsuitable content (don't know the performer!).

If they are coming from the Uk presumably they are looking for a British Curriculum school. There are a lot to choose from. Most schools in Dubai have a very diverse mix of nationalities so they should feel happy anywhere. Do you know where they will be working? Yr 9 is a hard year to find a place for. I know as I had a friend looking earlier this year. She ended up at Regent school but there have been some issues there and the principle was recently fired. Schools that go right through from Primary to secondary (if they want them on the same campus) include: Wellington International (IB in the 6th form) English College Jumeirah Primary School and then Jumeirah College opposite Dubai British School Deira International School (again IB i think) Gems World Academy I am sure others will add more. HTH

If you have really long hair you dont really need the donut thing. If you really want to secure your hair then put it in a high ponytail first. Then twist your hair into a tight tube, then curl it around the hair tie in a circle, tuck the end in and secure with those u shaped pins (not kirby grips).

I have never seen anyone write anything negative about JESS. If there is,no one will say. Lol! ;) yes, you are probably right. I was thinking more about of lots of replies telling me how good JESS is....! no negative comments. We are in the process to move our children there and was wondering if after all this is the right thing to do! Have you been offered places for both/all of them??

Plumbers have that spongy stuff they lag pipes with. Just slit it down one side to fit it on. That would do. Maybe try ACE or SPEEDEX.

Why are Indian school fees always lower than the rest? Dont they pay their teachers? I don't know about the facilities, but I think that Indian teachers are paid a lot less than British teachers. The class size in most Indian schools is typically a lot higher too.

No info about hospital work in Dubai but you will need to apply for a license. You will need your degree certificate attested and also experience/reference letters detailing your previous employment. Do you work with adults or paeds? There are also a lot of private physiotherapy clinics but you will still need a license. If you work within Healthcare City the licensing requirements are different.

Does anybody know how much do they cost in Dubai? If the cost is an issue, as it was for us, then I highly recommend the Nicholas and Asp Post-graduate Orthodontic training school in Healthcare City. Lots of previous posters on here will recommend them if you do a search. My two teens had their braces there for 6K each all up compared with quotes of 18-20K elsewhere. Top quality service. The student are supervised every step of the way. This was several years ago so you would need to check the current price. You can have a free assessment anyway. Good Luck!

Have you tried the men's salon at AR, in the back service carpark? I took my teenage son there and he had a great haircut which he was happy with.
