Totally safety, fun and professional attentive care ! Featuring an indoor play area and an outdoor area for the greatest pleasure of children ! Our Philosophy : The philosophy behind our curriculum is that young children learn best by doing. Learning isn't just repeating what someone else says; it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and to learn firsthand about the world we live in. In their early years, children explore the world around them by using all their senses (touching, tasting, listening, smelling, and looking). We Offer: - Safe, hygienic and healthy environment. - Bright & Cheerful Classes. - Personal, Social & Emotional Development. - Creative Curriculum. - Large outdoor shaded areas. - Basic Arabic and English Classes. - 2 hours a week : French Class (not required). - Physical Development. - Full-Time nurse on board. - Highly qualified staff. - Security Cameras. - Ages range from 2 months to 4 years. - Open from 7:00am to 2:00pm. The Goals of Our Curriculum: The most important goal of our early childhood curriculum is to children become enthusiastic learners. This means encouraging children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and to think their own thoughts. Our goal is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. We're teaching them how to learn, not just in preschool, but all through their lives. We're allowing them to learn at their own pace and in the ways that are best for them. We're giving them good habits and attitudes, particularly a positive sense of themselves, which will make a difference throughout their lives. Our curriculum identifies goals in all areas of development: Social: To help children feel comfortable in school, trust their new environment, make friends, and feel they are a part of the group. Emotional: To help children experience pride and self-confidence, develop independence and self-control, and have a positive attitude toward life. Cognitive: To help children become confident learners by letting them try out their own ideas and experience success, and by helping them acquire learning skills such as the ability to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their ideas, observations, and feelings. Physical: To help children increase their large and small muscle skills and feel confident about what their bodies can do. The activities we plan for children, the way we organize the environment, select toys and materials, plan the daily schedule, and talk with children, are all designed to accomplish the goals of our curriculum and give your child a successful start in school. With the impending heat...just wondering Just have a few costs ahead of us and we r having a maid move in tomo...shd we get one of those portable aircons...if so any brands and or sizes recommended? Or cough up for a proper new window air con...plus instal? Anyone have ideas about cost? Someone said second hand they cost 400 just for the unit but a warranty of only five days and no idea about install So am thinking since its a maids room with no open hallways wouldn't a portable one be enough..she is on her own sponsorship so if things work out...we can eventually sell the one and get a proper one installed Advice needed urgently pls Thanks!

Rabbithat When we asked for a quote from Oz when we moved here in July it was the same ...about two thousand for travel and another thousand for agents fees WTD Shockingly expensive and at last three times that taking her back to Oz...however we decided to leave her with mom while we got settled n here...but she is so settled as my mom has a house near the bush so she loves her kangaroo friends catching geckos etc...and I couldn't bring her here and take her away from that :( So I have to be happy skyping with her But will see her soon in the hols :) The other issue you have to think of ...certain breeds are a problem...like my kitty is a Bengal but the exporters in Oz they wouldn't allow her back cos she was a Bengal unless we had all original papers and they could confirm with breeder...so do chk Wish u luck...I know how hard it is...I miss her lots too ut a kitty adopted us two months ago so kids are happy half way :) Gray girl any idea on your quote from here taking the cats back? Lol Kimmic It's even worse cos nothing much is open yet...and no Tim Hortons yet The only thing that's too much is the traffic heading there :( The only access we have to our compound now that they closed one side of our street for works on suhail interchange roundabout was the access via Lulu (ezdan Mall) Sat there for 45 min on that street alone trying to get thru to our compound ...obviously no one getting to the mall this eve knows that nothing much is open...or that the mall will actually be here tomo and the next day and the next...

So glad to see this its not only me Been waiting on this bread to see if someone cld recommend something decent Takeaway or otherwise Everything here tastes horrible Chinese or thai wise :( Noodle house is a solute disappointment And so r the little joints dotted around the place Thai chi (in Villagio) which cleverly stands for thai Chinese Charged me 40 qr for a takeaway spicy fried rice which I asked them to do specifically with Chinese veges and nicely done was craving some comfort food Came back to pick it up and it was just plain BASMATI rice and corn and bits of carrot No flavour nothing I went back and asked them how in the world do they use basmati an Indian rice in fried rice and where were the Chinese veges I asked for They jsut look at me (u guys know the look I am talking about) and say that's what we make Well then why take my 40 QR in the first place? At least the other places who make food like that only charge 15 QR So then I swapped and asked them to make me a chicken dish which I saw being served to someone They charged me 2 QR extra for that :) And al it was was little bit of chicken completely drowned in more oyster/plus some horrible sweet sauce. When get back home for the holidays It's gonna be sushi and thai food every day of the week So dissappointed here :(

Hi Catberry can I ask if u have your seilankan maid yet? And how do u find her? And can I ask what you meant by too high salary. Roughly how much we're they asking and how much are u paying currently I am considering a maid too but seem to hear wages at both ends of extreme however people on the lower end have been those who shave had their maid for at least a . Year....not that I want to take advantage but would be a good idea to get a ball park figure ESP for Sri Lankan maids....and ESP since Ban on Phillipinos has been introduced Thanks again

Yeah I thought about not feeding it...but surely it isn going home and coming back....I mean how do ppl keep pigeons?in cages or aviaries? Not free to roam? I am unsure It has agreed tag on its foot so it's definitely someone's pigeon So some ppl keep pigeons free to fly? Sorry I know I sound a bit ignorant I feel bad not feeding it Don't want to deprive it but u r right it might go home...but wouldn't it miss its owners It's really fluffy and happy looking - not stressed or neglected like souq waqif kind of birds So prob would miss its owners I am sure not just for the food too? Will try calling a vet tomo :)

Cal-Hob, for the EYFS stages of the British Curriculum it is sort of "subject based. There is: Understanding the world (pretty much like science/social studies) Communication & Language Literacy Mathematics Physical Development Personal, Social and Emotional Development Expressive Arts & Design Each of those learning areas has goals associated with it. The school where I work we plan activities for each learning area based on one or two goals under that area. However, it often may also relate to other learning areas. For example, our Theme for the week is Zoo Animals. Today for our Literacy activity we read the story Elmer. The children listened to the story and then answered questions as we read, and tried making predictions before turning pages. (This branched in to goals from Communication and Language.) We named the different animals we saw in the story and talked about the habitat they live in (this branched in to goals from Understanding the World.) We discussed how Elmer felt in the story (which covered goals from Personal, Social and Emotional development.) Then we got out the crayons to decorate elephants so they were ready for the elephant parade and covered the crayon designs with a wash of paint (Expressive Arts & Designs). We also counted the animals we saw on each page (which would fall under Mathematics.) Lastly we put on some music and had an elephant parade around the classroom moving like elephants as we went (physical development) and then slowly changed that in to moving like other animals. My paper version of the planning for the week had that all under one learning area, but it covered all of the learning areas. I think a lot of it depends on not only the school, but also the teacher in the room. At the school where I work there are four different preschool teachers and we all follow the same plans for the week and do the same activties. However, the way I do an activity in my classroom may differ greatly from the way another teacher interprets it and presents the activity to her class. hi DebK r we allowed to ask which school You work at in this country where good schools rarer than hens teeth :( Or r u not allowed to disclose this for fear of loads of applications Also do they follow the same system in grade 2-5 You know I feel schools r so wonderful in theory But it really come shown to each teacher and unless they have been here for a while it takes long to gel and get in sync wiht the philosphy of the school Would u be bale to email em [email protected] if poss? Many thanks

Marvelteam Did u go My kids are very well behaved and my 8 year old wasn't even questioned about his age( he looks 12 :) But I had told him if he was asked to answer truthfully I don't like th idea that we tell kids that its ok for them to lie for things they REALLY want Sets them up for 'excuses' later on in life Sorry about this post But it was my 6 year old that was stopped so We couldn't go in :( kids were very very very disappointed and even shed a few tears but an important lesson they had to learn was life always doesn't go as they planned - even though they have been waiting Excitedly for three months - and important tales son that kids these days in life of instant results is so crucial (and am thankful for the principal in their school in Oz for showing us the value of) They r actually very lucky that they get to see these amazing cars on the road here The only one r haven't seen is a Bugatti on the road (I actually went ink quickly to taken pics for them which wasn't the same of course but they took joy (innocent little things ) that their mom had seen) but my husband called. Me today to say he has found a showroom with a Bugatti and if we can get in...I will post it here for all u moms who didn't get to take their kids in - either cos they were too small or they refused to 'up' their age - just this once

Hi lesya Yes as I mentioned DESS would be a great A list school to target with a Brit passport And reception is a very very diff year But 45 kids still not bad as Doha college or DBS ESP if u apply now for next year But that's only one school Unless as someone said below If u choose a temp school then to move onto another school when u get one But I have many many friends still waiting One has to drive to al khor everyday for a half decent school - still waiting Another at loydence and still waiting A lot are homeschooling rather than changing again a and again Others couldn't even get into loydence or newtons by the time we got there which was mid (july) year...u can easily get into these schools applying at this point if u wish to move again when and if a place comes available And yes they all have Brit passports and English first language As we are but we r from Oz so not British :) Stay positive but my experience is to get everything ironed out and negotiated before u sign And yes it takes forever forever forever For everything That's what they call Doha Time here :) edited by Raahatd on 18/01/2013 edited by Raahatd on 18/01/2013

I wrote a lot post an dit disappeared! So in short We were in a very similar situation to you - have just moved here 5 months ago School places is very very restricted Not sure of your child's age But impossible for younger grades in any schools which then leaves ACS and there the fees are 60 plus Which is what we have had to end up paying for our children There are way way too many ppl moving here Unless u have a Brit passport maybe try DESS Stay away from newtons We decided to out them in for one term but had to pull out after 2 weeks Negotiate your school fees not an option unless u want to end up paying double out of your pocket for a school that is just about similar to home (not super fantastic) not a bad deal if everything paid for of course But hurts if it comes form your own pocket Homes and villas are another issue Very very diff To get a vial in your allowance Unless wiht one child. R happy in apartments My husband funny enough works at the pearl too Again not sure of your child's age and where it is u are moving from But schools and houses here are the worst of all gulf countries And it's getting worse

Yes these Civil Defense ppl need to get their act together ...along with everyone else? Anyone heard of the 'fashion Asia Mall' a new mall right opposite the airport which houses mostly indian clothes however had a fantastic food court with ethnic 'street' food from various countries Unlike typical for courts wiht the Isla chains We used to live going there And they suddenly realised that they hadn't inspected or approved the food court So within 6 mths of the mall opening the entire food court has been shut down and has stayed shut for the last four months Which is quite disappointing cos the food their was so authentic and from so many diff countries Just wondering what would have happened to IKEA if it had opened and then the automotive would have gone...whoops we didn't check of the inspections...lets shut this place down Too hilarious But so sad for all those their hard work and sweat into these little food stalls

Was this really a surprise :) We moved here five months ago and I can already see how ridiculous things r around here I mean c'mon guys The super huge EZDAN mall (opposite landmark) which was supposed to open In Sept 2012 Has no signs of opening at all So I am not seeing and never saw any chances of ikea opening for at least 6 months after its due date of Dec Apparently there r hordes of Canadians waiting for the Ezdan Mall to open as well for the Tim Horotns cafe and they r still waiting... And I don't know about you guys but how crazy is the crowd going to be once ikea does open (shudder)

That's what I thought too But which language would u do as mother tongue Arabic which I thought had to be paid for (and a couple others - I think) I confirmed free But the specialty languages are the ones that they specially need to hire for so we need to pay So which language would u prefer And the other thing is I am pretty sure It's an option not compulsory So if if Arabic or the other free ones are not what u want then they do not Have to enrol them in the paying But correct me on this Someone please But Arabic I am absolutely sure is free Cos I checked that as that was my concern..

Kiara hope u got my email as as I mentioned in email and also mentioned here by windflowers Just cos the child says they r bored dozens t really mean they r And as I said in my email...if the teachers have experience in differentiating...a whole new world of leaning will open up to your child...you learn in multiple dimensions not just textbook learning :) and that's mor important..seeing that work in action in their previous school I can personally tell you how amazing it is and how wonderfully the children respond....but the teachers have to have the experience!

LOL lulu baker I wholeheartedly agree As Muslims moving from Australia and teaching our young boys how Islam forbids the consumption of poisonous chemicals or intoxicating substances ...it is hard to constantly have them point out these men smoking so unabashedly and even teenagers and with no regard to the teaching of their religion ...I guess no one has ever bothered teaching these men right from wrong and the government is too scared to do so now!
