Afternoon ladies. I am after recommendations for a pushchair that I can jog with and not too expensive. My regular pushchair just isn't suitable. Also, if anyone is selling something suitable please let me know. I have seen people jogging with bugaboo's. Anyone have experience jogging with one? Thanks

Hi Curlyhair80. Sorry you feel that way. I delivered at City a week ago by c-section and found the staff and department excellent. I was only visited by the nurse to check temp and blood pressure, and to give medication. Obviously on the first day post c-section this more often. I found that if I needed the nurse in between then I only had to press the call button and they promptly came. I think the fact that you are in a private room can make you feel much more isolated(I actually liked that though) than if you were on an open ward. I know from friends experiences in the UK you get monitored far less and my SIL was discharged the day after her c-section. As I said if you feel that you need more support call the nurse and ask them. It's a big busy ward and unless you make them aware of your needs they won't be able to help. Congratulations by the way. Enjoy the time alone with your little bundle before you go home. Once home my hormones went wild and I was an emotional wreck. I longed for my quiet hospital room!! Good luck. I forgot to say, I was also visited by a pain management nurse and a physio. Also, if I had problems with feeding the midwives were very helpful with helping and also advised and helped when I became engorged. edited by Shella on 13/11/2014

Hey ... What are the fasting numbers with whih you've been prescribed the medicines ? I'm 35 weeks and have been averaging 97 at fasting ... (Diagnosed with gtt very early in pregnancy). However this week I've had 2 fasting readings which came as 100 and 104... The rest have been done :s do you think my doctor should be prescribing medicines at this stage ? Btw ... Not to scare you my doctor said she has an option of getting me on medicines till week 36.. After that if the readings go out of hand... Insulin is the only option ... N she thinks rather than going for insulin she's rather perform the surgery earlier than scheduled ... Also she's already scheduled me in for a surgery at week 38... Is that normal ? hi Sunnysky. My fasting numbers had to be under 95. I managed this with diet for 7 weeks before they started rising. I was getting anything from 98 to 110. My daytime numbers are great and hopefully will remain so for the next 3 weeks. My endocrinologist has given me the lowest dose of metformin to take just once a day before bed as once these numbers start rising they generally cannot be lowered with diet and exercise. As i will also be delivering at 38 weeks (third c-section) my doctors feel that this will be enough to see me through to delivery as usually after 36 /37 weeks it's a little too late to start new treatments.

Thanks again Cherpie. My baby has been measuring 3 weeks ahead since 20 weeks. The doctors aren't too concerned as scans have revealed that the baby is measuring genetically big (big boned) rather than diabetes big ( no signs of excess fat/ fat tummy ect). Took my first tablet last night and came in at 90 this morning so it seems to be working. Unfortunately a side effect of the diabetes is me losing weight as i am very slim anyway. We have increased fat and carbs but my family are genetically very slim and lose weight very easily. Doc not too concerned as i am eating huge amounts and getting tge vitamins i need. Probably be one of those pregnant women that gain weight afterwards! Especially if i get lots of gifts of chocolate! Lol quote=Cherpie'>That's still not bad at all- I was never under 100, most times 140-170!!! I wasnt even supposed to have fruit or fruit juice for a long time... And I was sooo sick of organic peanut butter and yogurt! Are you measuring ok, sometimes baby can be larger with the diabetes... I wish you the best, I know you'll be fine, it's just an extra thing some of us have to go through unfortunately. Aww you will forget about this soon!! You'll be able to have that precious baby and cheesecake too lol!

Thanks. Just becoming really bored and looking forward to a few treats once baby is here. I know it can still stay high after delivery but little treats knowing they won't harm the baby will be very much needed! Seriously fed up of not being able to enjoy dessert when out for dinner. First tablet tonight so hopefull good numbers tomorrow morning! Been averaging 104 so hopefully under the dreaded 95 tomorrow! Thanks again. quote=Cherpie'>Yes but don't freak out cause it might not happen to you! Massive diarrhea. Are you going to take the extended release version? I still had high blood sugar for a long time after my son was born so do your best to keep up with what the nutritionist is advising, it helps a lot. Don't worry this is more common in pregnancies than most people would expect.

Thanks Cherpie. I was diagnosed at 27 weeks and have been managing very well with diet. Unfortunately as expected my fasting numbers have crepped up and diet changes aren't helping. I need to take one tablet at night to bring it down. My daytime numbers are still really good thankfully. Did you experience any side effects from the Metformin?

Thanks ladies. We saw the paint in Ace but after going direct to Dulux at Satwa it is much cheaper. Just wanted to check there were no other places with a range of odourless paint like Jotun. Thanks again though. KB75....unfortunately I cant recommend a painting company as we are very lucky in that our landlord pays to paint our villa every 3years. The only reason we are buying our own paint is that we want to choose our own colours. The landlord allows us to paint our house whatever colour we like as long as we paint it back to their preferred white if we leave. Sorry I couldn't help. edited by Shella on 29/09/2014

Hi ladies Thanks for your replies. I seem to be keeping my numbers down by eating copious amounts of cheese and almonds! Breakfast is still a struggle but thankfully I can manage a small amount of carbs with other meals. I see the endocrinologist on Wednesday and hope that he doesn't feel the need for meds as some of my numbers have been over by 2 or 3. Also I am losing weight (baby isn't. Still 3 measuring 3 weeks bigger) which is not a good thing as I am small to begin with. I have managed to introduce full fat dairy, mainly in the form of cheese and my daily treat of strawberries and double cream, which hasn't affected my numbers. Hopefully this will stop/slow the weightloss. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I am scheduled for a csection at 38weeks. I was borderline with my previous 2 pregnancies and didn't have to manage my diet. Both babies were born at 38 weeks weighing 3.9 and 3.96kg. I hope you pregnancy is going well Gilly3. I think we are due around the same time. My first 2pregnancies were a breeze compared to this one. I think we are in for a mischievous little monkey this time around! Lol edited by Shella on 14/09/2014

Good Morning Ladies. I was diagnosed with GD 10days ago and thankfully (apart from the occasional high) I a managing it by diet. Carbs at breakfast are a no no as they send by numbers really high. Can anyone recommend some good breakfast ideas. I am becoming really fed up of bacon/sausage/eggs or cheese. Actually, can I recommend some good snacks too! I am determined to stay off the meds if I can but becoming really bored with my food choices, I am 30 weeks pregnant . Thank you.

Thanks for replying Coffee_mate. I have an appointment with my doctor next week so will mention it to him. In the meantime I am looking for any ideas I can try. Will try a folded up duvet under me tonight along side my maternity pillow between my legs, one behind my back and between my ankles. There will soon be no room for in the bed for DH! Thanks again.

Hi Ladies I am 26 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child and having really bad hip pain/aches at night . It started around 12 weeks but has got gradually worse as the baby has got bigger and now I am lucky if i get 30 minutes sleep at night. Also for the past week the aches has stayed in my hips during the day. I have tried various pillows which support my back, between my legs and ankles but to no effect. I have also tried stretches before bed and keeping active. i have read that a memory foam matress topper may help. Any ideas as to where to buy one? More importantly, have any of you ladies experienced this pain:? My first two pregnancies were a doddle in comparison. Thank you so much for any advice you can offer.

Horizon School is also worth a visit. Both my daughters go there, one of which is in year 1. I know that her class is not at capacity due to a couple of students leaving Dubai. We are very happy with the school and most importantly my girls love going. The school does show arounds on a Tuesday morning. Good luck.

A friend recently bought hers from a boutique shop in Dubai Marina Mall. Don't remember the name of the shop but the dress was a long strapless dress with very simple small lace panels. She looked every inch the bride but very simple. I think the shop was in the main dome on the top level. Price was 1800aed. Good luck

Dr Josza delivered my 1st DD five years ago and my second DD three years ago. At the final scan two days before delivery he predicted both would be around 4kg. First DD was 3.9kg and second DD was 3.96kg! I did have planned c-sections due to problems with my pelvis though. Good luck!

Hi Lulee, I have had children at New Nursery and sadly had to find elsewhere when it closed. I can definitely recommend Palms Nursery on Meedaf Street, Jumeirah. Website here http://www.palmsnurserydubai.com/ I am very happy with the place, or more to the point my child is very happy with the place, also the fees are very reasonable. Good luck! Same here! My child was very happy at The new Nursery and is just as happy at Palms. Now Doodlemum, through elimination I think I know who you are!!!!!lol

Totally normal TDB. My story was very similar in that the induction failed and so after a 36 hour labour C-section it was. I also felt like a failure as I too had imagined a natural delivery, however some wise words from my Mum made me feel a little better. She said that there was no medal for delivering naturally and that whether natural or c-section the outcome was the same. A beautiful healthy baby. Think of this everytime you feel low and hopefully it will have the same effect on you as it did me! Take care and enjoy your bundle of joy. They soon grow up and cause all sorts of mayhem!lol xx

My daughter started at Palms Nursery in Jumeirah this September, as her previous nursery closed down. I am very happy with this nursery and the care and attention they gave to my daughter to enable her to settle. DD happily goes into class and comes home excitedly telling me about her day. An added bonus is the fees which are much lower than most of the nurseries that we viewed. Definitely worth considering in my opinion!

Hi ladies! Im 24 weeks pregnant, and desperately loking for pro-natural Obgyn/ Hospital in Dubai. From previous posts, I've noted that 2 dr's are highly recommended but now can't be located: Dr Koster and Dr Josza formerly from Healthbay Polyclinic. Does anyone know where either of these drs is now practising? Alternatively, is there any other pro-natural birth Obgyn in Dubai highly rcommended? Please help!! I highly recommend Dr Josza too. Delivered my 1st DD by emergency C-section 4.5 years ago after allowing me to try to naturally deliver for as long as was safely possible! (36 hours!) He is definately Pro natural and tried everything to allow me to do so. Turns out c-section was the correct decision as further tests post delivery noted I have a smaller than normal pelvis and thus a c-section necessary with DD 2. On both occasions Dr Josza was amazing and very supportive and available for any questions. He is still practicing out of Healthbay. Good luck with your pregnancy.

Hi ladies I wonder if any of you can help. My good friend is a retail manager in the UK and had a position organised with a firm in Dubai. The managers flew out and met with him, assured him of securing the position and all was going through and then, as I know is common in this part of the world, he suddenly heard nothing. That was 10 weeks ago and he is naturally quite an anxious to secure a new position, particularly as he has a wife and a 9 month old son. It's so awful that this happened, particularly with no explanation or communication. Does anybody know of any jobs within retail management or anyone who works in that industry who would be willing to take a look at his CV? He's a fantastic bloke and hard worker. Many thanks. Shelders What is his background? Might know someone if you post your email address.

Problem is they don't have names yet but hopefully they will really soon! My friend took a while to choose names too!! Embroidery was done at the shop in Jumeirah Centre. Can't remember the name but it is the one with Magrudy's in!! Really reasonable too. I think Mamas&Papas Dubai Mall do it too. edited by Shella on 03/09/2012

Is it me or are hardly any stores doing DSS sales this year? First day of DSS and I was expecting loads of shops to have sales but Mothercare had finished theirs last week before DSS even started, and Babyshop's was last day of the sale on the 3rd day of DSS! Many other stores had absoloutely no sales on whatsoever. Is it because they have to pay so much to participate? Confused! Maybe this is why they are trying to pull a fast one with prices - I would complain straight away to management. Apparently a lot of stores GAP, M&P, Topshop etc all going on sale around the 20th. This was the original date set for DSS then it was changes rather late in the day and so made it difficult for a lot of stores to process their sales in time. Husband is a retailer so I am in the loop!!lol Awaiting Gap to get some clothes for our jollies!

Just wanted to vent. This little gem of a nursery (The New Nursery)has been a fab place for my children to grow. It is like a little community where both teachers, parents and children all know each other. The current lisence holder doesn't want to run the nursery anymore and new lisences are not being in issued in Jumeira. The only hope is that the new owners(one of the parents, that's how much this nursery means to the parents!) will be able to renew the current lisence. This cannot be completed until it runs out in October. There have been many tears from both staff and parents that are on this rollercoaster, and at times I think why am I getting so upset. But hopefully those of you with young children will understand how nervous you become when searching for a nursery for our precious little ones. I found one where I am 100% comfortable leaving my DD (and my older child when she attended)and where she loves attending, and now I will most likely have to start the process again. I am just hoping that something miraculous happens over the summer and that the nursery will remain open. It is not often that things in Dubai have been around for so long, whilst not getting wrapped up in all the glitz, glamour and moneymaking! Oh well if anyone thinks they might be able to help please let me know. If not, well thank you for listening to my vent!!lol

Tommee Tippee for 2nd DD and one with an extra teat inside for DD1. Think it may be called Breat Flow. Both bought from Babyshop and both worked well. It''s all trial and error really. Took DD1 7 months to take any bottle and DD2 5 months. Meant only I could feed them until they would accept a nightime bottle. Good luck.

Dont feel bad Orchard. There are solutions. You can put your child in a very good FS1 nursery, such as Cocoon or Blossom. My son is currently in FS1 at Cocoon and its a fantastic place. Nurseries understand the 'seperation' issue and they work on this. Your child would fair much better in FS1 nursery. Cocoon is in Jumeirah 3. You need to apply quick. Then apply to other schools now for FS2. Safa school is also taking spots now for FS1 - they are moving to bigger premises in September but they are a fab school. My son will start there in September. Other places you can try: Regent, Raffles, EIS. GEMS are also opening a 'little gems' nurseries and you can try to apply there - this would help getting him into a place in a GEMS school. Dont stress and good luck. I agree regarding FS1 in a nursery. We were intent on sending DD to FS1 in a school but, changed our mind spring last year. She turned 3 in the April and was very happy at nursery, so we decided to leave her there. We feel we definately made the right choice for our DD and her confidence has flourished this year. Only you know your child and every child is different. Please don't feel that you have to send DS to school this year. If you feel that he is happy at nursery then leave him there to do FS1. Please make sure you apply now for FS2 though! Good Luck

we have already tested most of the brands. liked mamas and papas too. but the only thing with bugaboo is the travelling bag and easy to fold.even new model of M&P urbo is very nice. Like I said previously, we bought the travel bag and in the end it was annoying. Proved very bulky, especially when we were going on vacation and trying to fit it into taxi's/regular sized cars alonside our luggage! Never had an issue travelling without it. Pushchair always in one piece (well so far!)lol

Thanks for your kind words... manubhadauria .. I'm feeling almost that they are trying to guilt me into getting something that I/we may not like, love or want...... They say in their FAQ's section about the stroller that it has a bassinet option .... I have asked a friend to check it out in store and get back to me.... its heavy too due to the generators in there. check out the weight too. bugaboo is only 8.2 kgs and can be used upto 18 kgs of child weight. @shella: thanks for the update shella. we are centered onto that only as we plan to have 2 child atleast 3-4 yrs after. so this can be used afterwards too. from where did you bought yours? We bought ours in the UK and had family bring it over. We have recently bought the buggy board to go with it for times when our 4 year old is feeling lazy! Having said that, the pushchair is often empty as our 2 year old loves riding on the board too!!! Buggy board works very well with the Bee as it is specifically made by Bugaboo for their pushchairs! ETA: I think you would be best visiting the different shops and testing the pushchairs. It's all very well seeing somthing online and listening to peoples reviews(including mine!), however you might not think the same way or have the same requirements. I recommended the Bee to a friend but she wasn't too keen as she felt it was too light!! In the end she bought a Luna pram from Mamas and Papas which I agree is also a very nice pram . The funny thing is that the Luna is a light pram which apparently my friend didn't like about the Bee, oh and it significantly cheaper than the Bee. Each to their own. Have fun testing! edited by Shella on 07/03/2012
