Hi All,

My first post here. We are moving to Qatar in July. My DH will be working in the West Bay area near Sheraton. He will be starting work at around 7:00am. Does anyone know the drive times from the following locations at that time in the morning to get to West Bay for 7am?

Beverley Hills Al Rayyan 2 (near Rayyan Park)
Al Waab (Near Khalifa Stadium Sports City Street)
Al Fardan 2 (end of Al Waab Street near Muaither)

Thanks

Okay thanks for all the replies, I will ask him to check on the parking, really appreciate all the help and pointers. It seems best to avoid Al Waab/Salwa Road area during rush hour. edited by dohadazzle on 31/05/2013 edited by dohadazzle on 31/05/2013

Very good point MC, my dh has had a number of parking fines from WB when visiting his clients in that area.

Another consideration is - does he have a company parking space reserved for him? Parking in West Bay is dire. I was speaking to a man who works in a building across the street from the Sheraton and he said even at 0530 hrs parking is starting to fill up - most of the QP and other government offices go in for 0630 hrs (some 0700) and there are lots of them in the area. Construction is also an issue with parking as the crews (and buses and equipment) can take up the limited free street parking.

Beverly Hiils Al Rayyan to West Bay at that time would be around 20 - 25 mins. The afternoon would be a different story depending on the time of day. I wouldn't personally even consider the other two locations - too far from WB for the amount of traffic you'd have to endure.

We live in Al Waab and I drive through to Westbay some afternoons. All I can say, is out of the 3 locations you've mentioned, Al Rayyan is the closest and quickest.

Driving most anywhere before 7AM should be manageable. However, Al Fardan 2 is quite a distance away with lots of truck traffic at that time in the morning. Al Waab is often congested with school run and Villagio traffic. You may also want to consider his commute home in the late afternoons or evenings which could be bad. Ladies living in the three areas that you mentioned may be able to provide first hand info for you. Good luck!
