| Last updated on 8 May 2023Wondering how and where to donate your unwanted items in Qatar?
There are plenty of ways for you to have an impact on your community and the world around you, and supporting worthy causes such as donating in Qatar is one such way of doing so.
If you have some pre-loved clothes, books, toys, furniture, etc. that you believe are better off in a new home, we've compiled a list of initiatives, approved charities, and donation drives where you can drop off your secondhand goods.
Qatar Charity TAYF Container
Accepting: Clothes, toys, and other household items
One of the challenges you face as a long-term expat is trying to figure out what to do with clothes, toys, and other household items that aren't being used anymore. Rather than disposing your unwanted items in the garbage or recycling bins, some stuff may still be usable for other people.
If you have some pre-loved clothes, toys, and other unused belongings lying around the house, Qatar Charity accepts in-kind donations which you can drop off at any TAYF Container located throughout Qatar.
Qatar Charity has 35 donation kiosks across the country, which can be found inside or near shopping centres, supermarkets and grocery stores, hospitals, or by the roadside.
Qatar National Library
Accepting: Books
If you have a lot of books that are collecting dust at home, then we recommend donating your gently used books to the Qatar National Library. Please be sure to get in touch with the library first before you make your book donation, to inform them of the details of the books being donated.

Qatar Vet Center
Accepting: Books
The Qatar Vet Center only accepts secondhand novels that are in good condition for their 'Library in the Loo'. Here, visitors can give a small monetary donation in exchange for a book, and proceeds will be used to help rescued animals in Qatar.
Box of Happiness
Accepting: New and secondhand toys
Want to put a smile on children's faces? The Box of Happiness initiative works in association with Qatar Red Crescent to collect both new and pre-owned toys, wrap them up in boxes, and donate them to kids in need in Qatar and other countries.
Qatar University Library
Accepting: Books
The Qatar University Library is only accepting secondhand books based on the stipulated Library Collection Development Policy. We suggest getting in touch with the university's library first about your intention to donate, and what types of books you hope to submit.
Book Fairies Qatar
Accepting: Books
Book Fairies Qatar is a fun independent activity going around in Doha, where books are hidden in different locations for people to find, read, and then leave for the next person.
If you have some books that you're not reading anymore, Book Fairies Qatar accepts donations, but we recommend getting in touch with them first to organise your donation process.
