I've never had anything go missing either (UK, US, Australia) but I assumed I was lucky!! Receiving mail on the other hand....

There are also post offices within the Lulu shopping complex on D-ring (possibly Gharafa too but not sure) and on al Mirqab Street, opposite Family Food Centre. I've only sent mail to the UK, Australia and Sri Lanka and it arrives within 7-10 days max. Never had anything go missing.

There is a post office in Souq Al Ali, just off Immigration Roundabout

You can buy stamps at the main post office on the Corniche. The only other place I know of is at a smaller post office in Mansoura at the Al Meera Food store outlet. I imagine you would be able to buy them at gift shops in the bigger hotels and I think a friend bought some while buying post cards in Souq Waqif. How long it will take for a letter to arrive at its destination can be iffy.
