We are moving this weekend and need to purchase blackout shades for our bedroom. Does anyone know where I can purchase these and have them installed? I know they can get pretty pricey, so obviously the cheaper the better! =)

We got the fold-down blackout blinds (not curtains) from Sedar Blinds by Decoration R/A. WAs around 300 QAR (including installation) for a 2m x1.5 m window

We bought ours from Dima Decoration just off C Ring Road - very close to Al Azizia, which has been rec'd on here a few times (from Al Azizia head in the direction of Souq Waqif and after the small mosque, turn left - the shop is on the right hand side of the street - around 2 mins from Al Azizia) - directions in this EW post.... http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=87840 Cost was 350 rials for a curtain 3.30x2.40 and the guy gave us the rail for free. I pull the curtain along by hand, but I think you can have one of those double tracks which has the strings at the sides to make opening/closing easier. The curtain was made in a day. If you want them to go and fit it for you - the cost was 50 rials. DH ended up fitting ours and it was quite easy to do. Went to Al Azizia and they wanted 380 rials plus labour costs - I think he quoted me 160 rials for labour, but that was for a blackout and a pair of curtains to go on top of the blackout. In the end I shortened some Ikea curtains that I already had from Dubai and am using those. Al Azizia is a fancier shop than the one I went to, which is very small, but I thought their prices were a bit steep at around 1,300 - 1,500 rials for the blackout and a very ordinary, plain pair of curtains in beige -maybe that's the going rate for made to measure curtains though, as I haven't had any made before - usually get them pre-made.... edited by chizz on 13/10/2011
