Thanks Desertdiva I really appreciate your feedback. It's great to hear that you've found a great doctor at Ah Ahli. I now feel confident that I'll find a suitable doctor there. I also appreciate your comments about choosing a doctor. I had heard that there was one male doctor at Ah Ahli. I would normally expect to more comfortable with a female doctor but after reading your comments I will now think twice. Thanks again!

Hi Papillonvol, Welcome to Doha! I have made my GYN rounds to Doha Clinic, Hamad and Ah Ahli and personally prefer Ah Ahli. I've heard good things about Dr. Sonia at Al-Emadi, but I haven't been to her myself. At Ah Ahli, I have seen four different GYNs and I decided that I like Dr. Diaa the best. He's the only male doctor in their OB-GYN practice, and I swore that I'd never see a male GYN but I actually like his style as he's very calm and thorough. He's Egyptian, but trained in the US and Switzerland, which gives me some additional comfort (vs. the doctors who have only trained in India or the Middle East). He also works on an appt basis- I always make an appt, but I usually have to wait to see him. Sometimes, it's only a few minutes (when I go early in his shift), and sometimes it's longer- I think the longest I've ever waited is 1 hour, but this was nothing compared to what I experienced with wait time at Doha Clinic which does not work on an appt basis! So, what I'd recommend is that you see a few different doctors and then decide whom you like the best. Other ladies on this forum will have opinions on their preferred GYN at Ah Ahli too. Also, there's a few recent threads on this same subject so you might want to check them out.. here's the link to one: [url=http://www.expatwoman.com/qatar/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=169063'>link[/url'> HTH!

Thanks, this is really helpful. I've requested an appointment with Al Ahli and my insurance has confirmed that they cover it so that's a great start! I'll keep Future Medical centre in mind too. Thanks again.

Assuming you have insurance, the most popular hospital is Al Ahli. It's expensive though and not all companies cover it. I can't really recommend a specific gyn there but there are lots of good ones and it might be worth making an initial appointment with anyone (to get your 12 week scan) and then seeing how you feel. Advantage of Al Ahli is they do everything. Dr Sonia at Al Emadi is good but you can't make appointments, it's first come first serve. She also doesn't do deliveries but her hospital does and she recommends another doctor who people have been happy with. I've also heard good things about Future Medical centre which is off Al Wabb street. Disadvantage is it's not a hospital so you will have to transfer somewhere else for delivery but big advantage is it's on your doorstep.

Hi ladies, Hoping for your advice / reccommendations of a good Gyn to follow my pregnancy. We will be moving to Doha to the Al Wabb area in a few weeks, I'll be 11 weeks pregnant with our first. Would prefer to make an appointment with a Gyn now for when I arrive. Any suggestions of who (and where) to make an appointment with? Thanks for your help :)
