I'm sure this has been mentioned before but how does it work ordering items from amazon.co.uk and getting them delivered to Doha? Is it via a third party and are the extra costs worth it? I had a look on amazons website but it didn't seem to list Qatar? And does it only apply for certain goods?

Have ordered direct from Amazon to PO box here with no problems....international shipping rates add up of course but do not have to pay UK VAT so balances it out a bit. Have not had an issue with customs except they have opened a few parcels to check contents but not had anything refused yet...mostly books and dvds and some beauty items I have ordered. I use my husband's company mail address to deliver to. There has been an increase in charges from customs here, last I heard, dependant on overall order value but have not had to deal with that yet as not ordered anything this year.

I use an Aramex account to order from both Amazon.com and Amazon.uk and other retailers in both countries. Often, retailers will not ship to the Middle East so having a "street address" to use for deliveries in either country is invaluable. Often, the shipping is free within the UK and US so you pay the Aramex fees only. The only significant problem I've had in 5 years was this past June when a shipment was held up in customs for nearly a month (someone suggested the inspector(s) were on vacation) but that has been it.
