We have been looking online at various places that offer cats for adoption. Has anyone used any of these to adopt a cat or dog and would they recommend any of them.

Happy to say we found a lovely young persian to be part of our home. She was found on the street starving and with matted fur. She now has a lion cut..very cute..and is getting the best of vet care. There are some truely good people in Doha caring for all the dumped and neglected animals.

Thanks Grey Girl. I think the best option is to ask at the Vets. We brought our purebred Birman cat all the way from Australia. He was the most pampered well cared for indoor cat ever, we loved him so much. Then a short while ago he suddenly collapsed and died from HCM. No warning, no idea anything was wrong, but it is incurable so this could have happened anywhere any time. The house is so empty without him so we have been considering if we should take on another cat. Whichever cat it is, it will be with us for good and cared for like a Sultan! :)

We have noticed there is quite a lot of pet scamming going on here. Pets that have been stolen being sold, pets that conveniently have to be imported..please send money, pets that are being bred from street cats and being sold off as found cats. Some cats are so clearly traumatised that it is hard to see how they will be mentally cured, some are so sick that it would cost a fortune in vet bills to help them. There is animal cruelty in every country but after seeing a kitten dumped from a car on C Ring road, into an intersection to be killed.....

Hi Rabbithat, I'm afraid I don't have any experience of them as my DH has been adopting them from wherever he finds them. I am planning to post a thread of my own to ask if anyone can help and adopt one of our lovely cats. We are leaving Qatar for Oz in just over four weeks time (taking five with us) and have several more cats to try and re-home. We currently have three in the re-homing cages at Qatar Vet Clinic (which are real cuties if you want to take a look - 2 at Villagio branch and 1 at Duhail) but due to my DH being such a softy and taking home any waif and stray that he's found over the past 12 years of living here, we still have quite a few at home! Rabbithat, if you or anyone else would like to come and visit our boys and girls, please, please let me know. They are all neutered/spayed and have been vaccinated and are loved dearly. They're indoor cats, although we do have a couple of cats that live outside in the yard which we'd love to find a home for too.

Cat adoption must be the easiest thing in the world. Try QAWS or Second Chance. Or drive down just about any street here, and by the side of the road there will be kittens - stop and pick one up..... but swing by the vet to sort out its eyes and worms!
