FBI Clearance from the US done from Qatar

I'm hoping someone here has done this and can advise:

I am required to submit a US Police Clearance to a prospective new employer. Since I am already here in Qatar, I have received the FBI packet from the US Embassy, and have had my fingerprints done on the FBI form at the CID. I am now preparing to send the documents to the FBI, and my question is: Do you have to include a pre-paid return envelope? The form is a bit unclear. In the absence of any firm info I will err on the side of caution and include a pre-paid FedEx envelope in the packet - but though I should double check in case anyone has done this recently.

Thanks!

I did receive a packet at the Embassy (in addition to the Arabic letter for the fingerprints) but I'm pretty sure it was just all print-outs of what is on the website for getting FBI report.

I think I downloaded the form from the US Embassy (Doha) website, but don't quote me on that. . .

I didn't receive a "packet" from the U.S. Embassy, just a letter in Arabic and the fingerprint form. Do I now need to go back to the embassy before I send it to the FBI? Is there a form to fill out available on the internet? Thanks for the info.

Just wanted to report back, as the process is moving forward. I went to the US Embassy to pick up the packet and get the request for fingerprints on 20th Jan. Got the fingerprints done on the 24th and sent them to the FBI on the 25th. Today (11th March) I received my FBI report. The Embassy said it would take approximately 10-12 weeks, but it actually took just over 6. Now I have to bring the report back to the Embassy and then on to MoFA here in Qatar. Hopefully that won't take more than another week or so.

Did this a few years ago- a little vague on details, but at the time it definitely seemed easier to send it to the FBI than to fuss around with my state/ town and get additional stuff stamped.

Thanks Patron. I will double check with the US embassy. They told me that after I receive it back from the FBI I take it back to the US Embassy here for a stamp, then on to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here for another one. Was your report from your state or from the FBI? The way the Embassy explained it, if I get a State police report I will need to have it stamped by the Qatari Embassy in DC. But that if I get an FBI report then that step isn't required. I acually spoke to the Consul (former neighbor of mine) who gave me the same info. He said that for this reason it is a smoother process to go with the FBI report even though it takes a bit longer. Hope this is right!

Hi Rachel, Just be aware that you'll also need to get the form stamped at the Qatar Embassy in USA before they'll accept it here, we recently tried without doing this and had the certs rejected.

When friends did this recently from China (for an adoption) they included a return envelope. I would err on the side of caution as you say. Also, if you include Fed Ex information it is better trackable than if sent USPS. care
