the dog was wondering around Riviera Gardens with a leash still attached. DH saw it in the morning and thought it had got away from whomever owned it. come 4pm, see the dog again, still no owner :-( and by this stage the dog is obviously in distress from the heat and no water.

so we take it home and i have contacted the reception here, they have called around, and they havent ever seen this dog before, and no one is coming forward.

i think someone has driven onto the compound and dumped the dog :-(

anyway, we already have a dog and cant take on another one, ive no idea what to do now, only been here 2 weeks!

the dog is i think, a labrador cross saluki, she is quite tall, and is very sweet and quite young i think. any suggestions very welcome

thanks veritas, will do all the below! my own dog is now very stressed, and i really need to get the 'new' dog out, have tried seperating with closed doors but it just howls and howls and scratches and then tried seperating with an old kiddie stairgate type thing, so it can still see out, but this hasnt seemed to work as it just pushes it over! but the dog is very sweet natured, and hasnt been aggressive to my dog at all, and seems very taken with my DD (but i havent let them together as you never know with a strange dog, in a strange house, with strange people) i really feel sorry for it, its obviously someones pet rather than a straight stray, the only other thing i can think is the owners are away for the holidays and have left the dog with a maid who somehow has let it go and now is too scared to tell anyone? who knows. thanks for the advice :-) oh sorry, edited to add, the dog seems in fine fettle :-) none the worse for wear at all <em>edited by Phokoje on 24/07/2011</em>

Hi Phokoje, I presume this was yesterday? Is the dog still showing any effects from being out in the heat for that long? It might be an idea to take her to the vet to get her checked out for heat stroke and maybe microchip although I doubt she will have one and chipping and registration with the Ministry has only recently come into being. She may have been dumped but she could also be lost and the following are likely to be who someone would contact to see if they know anything. Qatar Veterinary Centre is near Villagio - http://www.qatarvet.name.qa/QVC/HOME.html or the Al Timimi Clinic which is in Cultural Village - 44081492 Mobile:77119770 You can also contact QAWS - Qatar Animal Welfare Society - http://www.qaws.org/index2.php for some advice but doubt if they could take the dog as they are bursting at the seams already. Likewise - Dogs in Doha (DiD) may be able to give you some advice but they do not have a shelter and rely on foster homes and are also full to the brim. QVC, QAWS and DID have website/facebook pages so if you get a picture done and give them the details they could put out a plea on your behalf or you can do it yourself and you never know, someone might just be looking for her - however, they need to take a bit more care with their dog, if that's the case!
