We have some new warm clothes that we do not want, and would like to give them to a couple of the lads who work on our Compound doing rubbish and gardens. Is it OK to do this, and will it create any problem for them to receive clothes from us? Thanks

You might give them a short note that says that you gave them the clothing when you give it to them. I would describe the specific clothes and the guys name, ie Brown Jumper given to Bishnu on 15 January, 2011. It might not be necessary, but might protect the kid incase the 'boss' gets snarky and tries to accuse them of stealing the items. care

I like to give our "corporate gifts" to the housemaids, workers, guards, etc. as well. We receive all sorts of company-branded blankets, jackets, wallets, etc. that they are likely appreciate much more than us. Roxanne

Thanks Working Girl. We do have a Man who seems to be in charge of the Compound staff, but we know anything he is given by residents never gets to the passed on, hence we thought we'd give directly to the Lads.

I think it is quite commonly done and don't think there should be any problem at all. Do you have a compound manager? Maybe run it by him or her if you have any doubts. If it is a problem there are TAYF donation bins popping up all over the city now. One at the entrance to the food court in Villagio.
