My child needs learning support at school. She is currently at Sherborne but they can't provide learning support and have intimated they are not the school for her. While I find this shocking I want what is best for my child. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of ACS Doha or can anyone recommend anywhere. At the moment in year 9. Thank you.

You will find that in Doha at the schools currently providing the British curriculum, many will be very reluctant to help the children who require a lot of learning support . At the end of the day the schools here are more intrested in making money and the costs of supporting pupils are not in there interest.I would ask Sherborne if there is a pacific problem before moving her ie is it Low ability or behavior, As you may find the same problem happening somewhere else and again be in the same position. The best of luck in finding a solution which works. I would also speak to your daughter about the school and what is happening in class edited by alee on 19/05/2013

Could it just be the move or the school ? or did your daughter have identified learning difficulties before coming to Doha ? I presume she passed an entrance exam before starting . It must be hard to be faced with potentially having to change your daughters school at what is a typically tricky age. Does she like the school ? If it is very academically focused and that doesn't suit her maybe you need to look elsewhere . Most of the schools in Doha claim not to have provision for special educational needs and so many parents have to support their childrens learning independently. Can you get her a tutor or tutors for her ? Unless she is being behaviourally difficult , I can't see why the school would encourage her to move if you provide additional support yourself.
