I have a friend in the US who wants to send me coffee. I am not sure how rigid customs here in Doha is, with packages coming through that contain food. Is there any reason that coffee would be confiscated? And advice on packing that would help keep it safe?

thanks!

I got a notice today from Aramex saying Customs no longer accepts shipments of powdered teas, including spice teas. This may be relevant to your shipment of coffee. It might be best to have someone bring it back in a suitcase, if you can.

Thanks! It's his own home roasted coffee so he could make up a label I guess, that shows an exp date.

The only problem I've heard of with food is if there is no expiration date stamped on it. Our company ordered promotional candies to give away, and there was no expiration date so it got held up by the Ministry of Health. I would think if it's shipped thorugh Aramex, you should be fine -- but they might be able to advise on any regulations. When we come back from El Salvador, I bring in 1/2 a suitcase of coffee each time and have never experienced a problem.
