Hi sarahlou123!! I am curious to know if you finally accept the offer in doha and if you have been able to sponsor your child as a single mum.

Do you have written, attested/embassy authenticated permission from your daughter's father to bring her to Doha? Without it, you won't be able to sponsor her. Are you getting an allowance for schooling? Check to make sure it will cover the actual costs. The more desirable schools are expensive (IF you can even get a place with your choice). I don't know what the annual fees are but perhaps someone else can provide firmer information. Housing is expensive in Doha - a decent 2 bed flat will probably run between 8000 - 10000/month depending on location. Most flats will not allow dogs, be sure to check before you sign a contract. What about transportation? Public transport here is not very reliable in terms of timing and the routes are not very useful for many. Renting a car will run between 1800 to 2000 per month for a small car (Nissan Tiida or Sunny).

Thanks Sarahlou! The offer is around 24000QR (about 5600 €-4500GBP), including everything but housing...

Hi all, I have got a tempting job offer from doha. I would like to get an honest opinion on if it is realistic to think that I will be able to settle in with my nine year old daughter and two dogs. I have been living abroad for 30 years, but obviously not in the middle east...are there other single moms out there or am I going to be completely out of place? I´ll appreciate your sincere statements...the truth won´t hurt. How much is the offer? Will they provide housing/schooling/medical and flight for family I have a couple of single Mum friends in Dubai and they have a grand time here, they have lots of other married/single/Kids and no kid friends. I think it is far easier to meet people in the Middle East than it is at home as we are all in the same boat
