I've used Century Tailors and they have been good/OK for straight copies of shirts but shocking on suits and evening dresses (and I'm talking straight copies here too)....definitely not a ladies tailor. Am about to try out a new one for a copy dress for a wedding I'm going to so will let you know if they are any good.

I have often used Century Tailors on Al Mirqab street and have heard from other people that Raymond Tailors are very good too. Raymond has now relocated next to the new Bombay silk off Al Khaleej Street....just down from Jaidah flyover. Hope that helps.

If anyone manages to find a good tailor in Doha, I'd be interested in reading your review. And boo to spam-artists.

Oh darn - I step away for a mere few hours and look at all the fun I missed! I agree completely with GinaM - a recommendation from a satisfied customer means something different than a self-promoting advertisement. I guess this is just the risk we run by participating in a free and open forum. But since EW-ers come through with great advice 99% of the time, I still say we win! Agree

Have you noticed that Ranand's post has disappeared? Is that her doing or moderators?

Does it really matter if she is good ?? Doesn't matter if she is good but the problem is that when you use a forum like this and someone puts a post on you are assuming (quite within reason) that its another person out there who has used that service and can vouch for them. If someone just advertises themselves (without admiting that its an advertisement) then how do any of us know if they are any good...its pretty deceptive.

I think she probably did a search using the word "tailor" and just advertised on all threads listed. As we know, the search function doesn't distinguish between regions. However, I agree about the misuse.

Woaw CornishGirl, you've been a good Miss Marple;). Ranand has registered only today, obviously gone through these threads very carefully and replied to all relevant ones with the same message - promoting her own business, I guess and cross-border does not appear to be a problem. What a shame to misuse this forum in such a blatant way.

If you look at Ranand's other posts, they are all exactly the same - advertising this particular tailor. She just didn't make sure that she was advertising only on the Dubai forum.

RachelA, Marycatherine has beaten you to it ...;). Now, this is a very old thread so I do not understand how anybody in Dubai could have mistaken it although I do believe Ranand meant well. Computer glitch??? Highly unlikely ...

Ranand - you're in the Qatar forum - but perhaps if the OP is really picky they'd be willing to go to Dubai?;)
