Guide to Scuba Diving in Qatar

One of the most popular places to dive is called Old Club Reef, a man-made reef, just before Sealine Beach Resort.

Constructed of sunken cars and oil-drums, two artificial reefs have been built for scuba-diving and create a welcoming environment for marine life, including a large variety of fish, crustaceans and corals.

Choose your instructor carefully, ask to see their certification and make sure it is current. Word of mouth is a great way to find out more about the various instructors in Doha, their teaching styles, where they do their contained and open water exercises, etc...

Doha Sub Aqua Club

DSAC operates in Doha and has a number of active diving members from different nationalities.

They meet every Tuesday evening at the clubhouse to talk about what's going on at the club, to arrange the weekend's diving and generally socialse.

They host shore dives every weekend, and whenever the weather permits, they take the club boat out to the variety of offshore wrecks and reefs available in the Qatari waters.

They welcome divers from other organisations and at any level. If anyone wants to dive with them, they just have to join the Club. If further training is desired, it's passible as they are a branch of BSAC, and it involves a short crossover course which is free! Training is run by their highly qualified, volunteer instructors, whose main goal is to turn out and develop skilled and enthusiastic divers (like themselves!). Nobody is rushed to complete their qualification, unless of course they want to.
