Hi

Does anyone know if it's possible to de-register a vehicle without physically taking it to the traffic dept?

The ministry of transport seems to deal with postal services and the occasional bus, and none of the tel numbers we've been given for the traffic dept seem to work.

Anyone had any 1st hand experience?

Thanks
L

Hi! I just exported my car from Bahrain to Dubai last October 2013. The procedure is very simple, however you do need to take the vehicle to the Central Traffic Directorate (the same building where you go for annual registration or driving license issue/renewal...its next to Isa town stadium). Some forms to fill, get your car passed..they will guide you through, change of number plates to Bahrain export no., then they charge an amount (I don't remember how much but 51 BD???). That's it...then you catch hold of an agent and get your car transported.

Hi, I don't have a 1st hand experience, but when I exported my car from Dubai to Bahrain, I took the car to Traffic dept, and the first thing they did was to transcript the engine and chasis numbers carved on the car. So, I would think they need to see the car to produce necessary papers. Hope somebody else confirms.
