Hello - checking for a friend...if wife is going to get the family visa and RP, DH is working here already, do the kids ages 4 and 8 need the RP? Basically, she'll be going to the medical centre this week to start the process and I didn't know if the kids have to go or not??

Thanks :) What about an 11 YO boy? Do we take him to the medical commission? If so, can he go to the ladies side?

my kids were 7 and 14 when we moved to doha 2 years ago. My daughter at 7 had to have the finger prick test ( we took them to the white and green building sandwiched between rear of ramada and mega mart, its got chowking written on it - COST 20 RIYALS PER FINGER PRICK TEST). My son who was 14 went to the medical comission. They just looked at him no blood test or x ray and then stamped the documents for the medical. Seriously !

I need clarification please...so do you show the kids' passports and pay for them when the mom is getting the medical whilst at the medical commission or do you go back after mom receives RP stamp in passport. I have read conflicting info on different threads....

Does anyone know if the other clinics have actually started doing the medicals yet?

As Bechamel said below, Al Ahli sent a text to say that they have started doing it. Doha Clinic and Al Emadi were the two others approved to do it but I do not know if they have started yet.

I didn't have to take my daughter for her RP, I just brought her blood test resluts. Got a text message from Al Alihi hospital last week to say they are now processing medicals for 'recently arrived' Expatriats so that might be a much quicker route than before.:)

They will definitely need blood type certificates for their RP's. I took my kids to Qatar Medical centre and they pricked their fingers to do the test and printed the certificates out for me immediately. It was pretty straightforward for once ;-)

My son was 8 when we moved here. He did not need the Medical or fingerprints, but did need the blood type certificate and had the RP stapmed in his passport. The schools will ask for a copy when the kids get registered.

yes they do need RP's although not sure if they have to do the fingerprinting and xray, might just be the blood type as thats all we needed for DS, born here.
