We are looking to ship (or otherwise transport) a car from Qatar to Egypt, and would love some recommendations for agents. Even if you've not shipped Qatar-Egypt, if anyone has experience shipping within the region that would at least give us a place to start. Would seriously appreciate any feedback - and if you are recommending whoever you used, a name and contact number would be great too!

Thanks in advance,

Rachel

Hi momoyum the total freight moved including car was 1150 pounds roughly a 20ft container plus space in another one...13500 dirhams, I didn't bring any furniture, this is just purely, soft furnishings, linens, kitchen stuff, microwave, water cooler, clothes and pictures and frames plus 2 small rugs audio/video stuff the car plus a few boxes (don't know which ones) have reached here and waiting on pick up after eid (inshallah)... the company have asked for about 3500dhs to be paid for it now so DH sorting it out.. car collected 3rd august, put on ship 17th august, told it had arrived Doha 25th august ramadan timings!! re getting the car ready for travelling... cost for MOT+export license insurance+ export number plates approx 800 dhs from the road licensing office in Abu Dhabi... Dubai will probably have the same system so say 1000dhs? is this what you wanted to know?

Hi - we just used Leader Relocations to ship our car from Dubai to Doha on the RORO ship. Cost AED4,700 (roughly same in Riyals), which was a lot cheaper than getting a container and we couldn't find any company to drive it through Saudi. DH still has to pay import tax of 5% of the value of the car, as it is over 2 yrs old and get it registered today after insuring. Here are the details of the company: Leader Relocations, L.L.C. / Leader Freight Forwarders Tel: 00971 4 8852204; 2 Fax: 00971 4 8850724 Email: [email protected] / + Website: http://www.leaderrelocations.com We had no troubles with the company and the car was not damaged in any way. Jing was our contact in Dubai and she was very helpful. The RORO ship sails every 2 weeks or so, but the actual sailing only took 2 days. Then it has to wait for Customs inspection where the dogs will do a search (the inside of our car is covered in big dusty paw prints at the moment, but better than having the seats slashed I suppose - lol!). We also stored the car in their warehouse in Dubai for a few weeks - that has a charge of around AED25 a day. We shipped our furniture with GAC and that was the cheapest quote I could find - around AED13,000 for a 20 foot container. Service was good and have used them before from Kuwait to Dubai. edited by chizz on 28/08/2011

Ladyluna, we are moving end of year from Dubai to Doha and was just wondering what other costs were invloved in moving your car from AD to Doha? and how long did they take from pick up to drop off? Did you also move furniture and if so roughly how much did it cost? thanks in advance.

I would suggest Qatar Logistics - they are excellent, reliable and very professional. Their office is on C-Ring Road and the contact number is 44624324. I can't recommend you a contact person as she left the company to go back home for good.

Thanks ladyluna - this is very helpful. I've sent them a request for a quote and/or additional information. Yes, do let me know how it ends up for you, as we won't do anything before Eid for sure. Anyone else?
