Hello Baffled,
We just turned up, plenty of seating available with a good mix of families, couples, groups and individuals.
We were there after six and left around seven thirty, looked like most early diners had moved on, I imagine it would get very busy later.

Hello, I was at Khan Farouk last night and as we were there early didn't pay the 100QR charge that applies after 8pm.
They do offer an Iftar menu with about six courses, each course giving you the choice of a few dishes e.g soup, salad, sweets, the only exception was the main which was a mixed grill, tea was also included in the cost of 140QR
We chose to order from the regular menu, the waiter told us it would take longer but we found the food appeared very quickly on our table.
I will also give my vote to the falafel.... delicious !
I will mention that from the outside the restaurant appears to be closed, when you pass through the doors the seating area is a level lower than the entry area.

I was at Khan Farouk on Friday evening and indeed there is a QR100 / person charge but that only applies after 8PM. We were there at 7 and didn't have to pay the minimum.
Thank you, all. After I posted I tried on google and Khan Farouk has certainly got some good feedback. I will wait after Ramadan though as the plan was to try Iftar at an Egyptian restaurant but this year for unknown reasons, I am trying to limit the distance to travel to restaurants for Iftar due to the F1 racing style drive shortly afterwards. We did go to the Saffron a month ago and noticed that Khan Farouk was very busy.;)
We had a business lunch at Khan Farouk and it was delish--Egyptian style moussaka, kababs, and the most wonderful falafel I've ever had. We each got an entree and then passed the plates around. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
We haven't got round to doing an Egyptian restaurant on DoD yet, but I have asked around and apparently the one at Katara is called Khan Farouk, and the feedback we are getting is that the food is great :)
Hope that helps, Dine Out Doha is still in the Beta stage, as well as waiting for people to get back after the summer so we can encourage them to send in their own reviews :) There's only so much eating out that we at ILQ can do lol
