Hi ladies,

I have started to look at our wardrobes to see what i am taking to Doha. I was surprised how little summer clothes we've got.
being lived in the UK for long so our wordrobes is full of jumpers, coats, boots..etc.
I would be grateful if you could let me know what kind of clothes you usually wear in winter, how cold is it?
we will be in Doha in Dec and I'm sure the kids and myself will be away to somewhere cooler once the schools close, so basically i need to know what to bring for Dec, Jan, Feb.. until June.
Would I need any of my boots or coats??

Many thanks
x

I find ugg boots quite useful around the house as the tiles are quite cold. Although being Australian, they are for indoors only!!

I have used heaters, it depends on how sunny your villa is I guess, they tend to be designed to keep heat out. I wear jeans year round and usually a t-shirt and flip flops but I have worn my leather jacket at souq waqif in january and often find it cold at the malls. You need hat, scarf and several layers for the movie theatres though, they like to keep them sub-zero for some reason ;)

In 12 years I've never had a heater - then again, in Canada, I sleep with the window cracked open in January. As someone else mentioned, it's how much YOU mind the cold. I just put on socks, slippers, a long sleeved T-shirt and perhaps a sweater. Others shiver year round.

I'm from Canada (the land of cold and snow) and in the winters here I do wear a heavy sweater in the evenings, wool socks, and have been known to be found sitting bundled up under a blanket with a heater pointed at me to stay warm. Some people just feel the cold more than others... and it's more so during the few rainy days. The dampness makes it feel much colder.

The last few winters have been really mild and I haven't used heaters at all but I have in the past worn gloves in Qatar. Its got down as low as 4 since I've been here...which is glove weather in my book (and sitting on radiator weather too)! :) Boots are definitely able to be worn here during winter (normal winter day is around 20 ish give or take a few degrees) and gets down to around 10 ish at night. I have all my winter gear here (we brought everything over with us but in saying that I'm from Sydney, Australia so my winter clothing quota was probably fairly small - and has shrunk even more since getting here) and wear coats out at night regularly in winter.

I did actually bring 1 pair of boots and have been know to wear them in Winter! I wouldn't bring too much winter stuff though, maybe clothes you can 'Layer up'. Long sleeve Tees and jeans you will definitely wear but I wouldn't bother with any heavy stuff. (It doesnt really get that cold) I know people who've bought radiators for winter and have never used them. Good Luck with the packing!!
