Expedia - multiple airlines/continuous journey?

Hoping someone can answer this. I'm looking to book a flight to the US, and the cheapest option on Expedia involves a QA flight to London then a BA from London to Philadelphia. If I book this as a single journey (not two separate tickets) does this mean that when I check in in London my bags will be checked in all the way to the US? I would HATE to have to reclaim and re-check in London.

Will post this on the Dubai board as well since there is generally a lot more traffic there...

Thanks in advance!

Same thing happened to me...the luggage issue will be no problem on one ticket, but when you get to London, give baggage tickets to new airline in order for them to confirm the transfer....I did not one time and the luggage did not make it.

I did QA to Gatwick and BA to Orlando last year and just told them at the QA counter here in Doha to please check my luggage all the way through. It was super easy. However, once you get to BA I would walk up to the BA counter and make sure that they have gone ahead and released the luggage for the BA flight. Mine had not been released yet and wouldn't have made it unless I told them to. I'm sure its different each time, but just a thought if you don't actually check in at the counter. (like at one of the computer kiosks instead, like I did)

For what it's worth, I have found that it can be 50/50 when traveling to North America but having your boarding pass for the next flight can make all the difference in the world. Whenever possible, I check in online as soon as the option is available, I almost always change my seats and print the boarding pass. Each time I have been able to do this, my bags were checked all the way through! Happy trails....

Yup, as long as you show them the ticket showing the continuous journey they will check you all the way through. They won't give you your boarding pass for your BA flight though, I think you just collect that at the BA transit desk in London (like the transit desk in Dubai)

yes. if it is a single ticket (even if it is different airlines) and the airports are international terminals then your luggage can be booked through.

depends on the relationship the airlines have if they code share etc if its QA and BA i think you would need to pick your bags up and re check them in regardless if its a single journey ticket. If it where QA on all sectors then your bags would be checked all the way through same if it where BA all sectors Sorry not much help maybe best to call QA and ask
