Researching for a friend who has Qatar Insurance Company (??) for medical insurance and needs a procedure to have a coil removed - left it too long and now needs its surgically removed. Totally dire situation and no chance of going back home to get it done.

Does anyone have experience with this medical insurance??? I am told Al Ahli is on it so can anyone recommend a gynaecologist to see there? I'm assuming it is a gynaecologist you would see for this?!??!?

TIA

I attend a clinic behind Landmark, Lady Gynae (excellent very on the ball and was on TV recently) her 2nd in command is Dr Husam Qush who trained in Germany, he is brilliant and I'm sure either would help. His no is +974 55 699787. Will try an find number for main clinic if necessary. I am V happy with this clinic, they even did breast ultrasound.:)

I would LOVE to recommend anybody @Al Ahli but my first visit to a gynecologist there just last week was so very weird and uncomfortable, that I will keep my eye on this thread hoping to get some more good references...

I had a problem with Dr Abdul R Lilla (not because of his work etc) as he is really nice. But when he recommended a procedure my insurance company refused to let him go ahead because he is not one of their `regular' doctors (they give it a name like special consultant or something) so I couldn't have the surgery. I wasn't prepared to go to another doctor there just for the surgery! Dr Lilla was the doctor I wanted to do it. If you only want a small procedure it may be ok. But I thought I would mention it as it seemed to be an issue for my insurance company! The doctor wasn't very happy either.

If your friend is happy to go to a male gynae then Dr Abdul Rahman Lilla (FRCOG London) at Doha Clinic is very good.I am not sure about that Insurance Company though. He can be found on the first floor in the new part of Doha Clinic (right next door to old part!!). He generally works limited hours, starts about 10am I think until lunch time. He has a website or you can email him, he has always emailed me back.If you prefer a female there is Dr Sama, but she is very busy (guessing mainly because most ladies won't go to a male). you can contact DR Rahman email [email protected] or www.gynaeqatar.com

CC - I suggest Dr Sonia at Al Emadi. They take QIC insurance. I assume she can do this but if she can't she'll know who can. Alternatively, try to get in to see Dr Rizvi at Al Ahli but it could be a long wait (and I'm not clear on the current situation with QIC and Al Emadi, I think you have to pay and claim back). The other option (assuming your friend is married) is the Women's Hospital (just go to emergency). I wouldn't risk going for contraceptive related issues if she's not married though.

I think the problem is no one here is necessarily that happy with their gynaecologist, especially at Al Ahli! I am "shopping around" for one at the moment and think I'll just have to rock up at Al Ahli and take what I can get. If it's that serious your friend should probably just do the same...
