Hi ladies,

We are from the UK & currently live in Abu Dhabi. My husband has been offered a job with Qatar Foundation & we will be provided with accommodation on their own compound. My husband will be in single accommodation until we arrive at the end of August (me & 2 children, 12 & 8) We have been told that we will get a villa. Does anyone live there or knows of anyone who lives there. Could you please let me know what is like ie size & outside space & how they are furnished, do they allow pets, we have 2 cats.

Thanks in advance

JB

HI JB I left there one year ago so i hope nothing has changed since. I lived in a 2 bedroom villa and it was completely furnished. Good curtains and blinds all over the villa. The kitchen was fully kitted out to with fridge freezer(american style),microwave, dishwasher. They did have pretty much all the utensils you would need as well. when i moved into my villa all the utensils were new, including cups plates bowls etc.My problem was the lack of storage space in the kitchen and there was only my husband and i there. There is a washing machine(top loader) and a dryer. There is an iron and ironing board and a hoover. There is a TV and a dvd player. Lamps in the sitting room and bedrooms. However in the villa there was a little room behind the main door that we used for storage,i presume it maybe a maids room not sure. But you will have a bigger villa with 2 kids so space should not be an issue. Honestly the place is very well kitted out for a new arrival. Im sure they have not changed that within the year since i left..They even left sugar milk bread teabags etc to get you through the first morning!! Hope this helps. edited by Lizy on 03/05/2012

Hi ladies Thanks for the replies. Lizy, can you tell me how furnished the villas are. Finding it hard getting a definite answer from HR. Do they have for instance small kitchen electricals, a TV, decent curtains etc. We need to make a decision as to what to do with our stuff here. Thanks

Hi JB I used to live in qatar foundations ECCH complex. there are two lots ECCH ! and 2. With 2 kids i would imagine you would get a 3 to 4 bedroom villa which are very nice with a garden. quite spacey inside and they come fully furnished. they do allow pets and its quite nice to walk pets around the compound as it has a fair bit of greenery. there are play areas within the compound for small kids.gardeners keep the gardens well and there is space for 1 car outside your villa that is covered but you can park a second car on the street outside your villa if you have 2 cars. Maintenance on the compound is pretty good, if A/C breaks down etc. there is an amenity complex atteched to both compounds where there are tennis courts, gym, outdoor pool and 2 resturants plus games rooms like pool etc and movie rooms where they show kids movies. then beside the fitness area is a lulu supermarket, bank, drs dentiist, and other shops that had not opened when i left. so you can walk to this easily if you dont have a car for a while. All nearby resturants deliver to the complex. There is a good mix of people there. you will enjoy it im sure. Any other questions am happy to help.. edited by Lizy on 02/05/2012

Qatar Foundation does have their own compound (Qatar Foundation Complex) in addition to others. This one is very close to QF itself. They do allow pets and there are lots of families. My coworkers who live there are happy.

Hi JB. Lots of the large companies rent Villas in compounds, rather than have their own compound. There are families in this compound from Qatar Foundation. Do you know the name of the compound? PS - there is no PM on Qatar forum.
