I just wanted to share our experience. 4years ago we sought the advice of a Doha based financial advisor, on the recommendation of a colleague. To start with they tripped over themselves to help and advice us. Since then, the companies advisor has changed several times, hard to get hold of, and the policy they organised for us has actually lost money, in a time of worldwide share gains. Financial advisor/manager is a joke - financial set up, take the fees, and run, more like! While obviously I can't name the company on here, I would just say, be careful. Wish we had gone with our gut instinct, and gone through an advisor we trusted in our home country.
Get rich quick, for our "advisor" but not us!

LOL, I thought that MaryCatherine! Sounded remarkably like the glowing recommendation we had of our advisor. I suspect on a back hander, perhaps!! It was all great in the first little while until we realised how poorly it all performed!

The previous poster is resurrecting old posts and making recommendations. They have a brand new identity and only 2 posts (here and in the Dubai forum). Be very careful. Perhaps this person is legitimate, but it looks funny on the surface.

Thank you very much for this advice! I must add that we received an analogous treatment in Europe some years ago. If you have seen the recent Leonardo di Caprio movie "the wolves of Wall Street" you will understand that it is the normality in many environments of finance. Well, since then, when we realised the scam, we moved our investments to a so called "ethical finance bank" in Italy - that invests only in very solid investment products and also assuring that your money does not go to companies or banks or countries that do non-ethical investments. Since then, our money is safe and we obtained "two birds with one shot": not extremely high, but no risk and good revenues - as their choice is not to invest in risky funds - and the certainty that our money does not finance things that we don't approve ethically. I am sure that there are similar banks around Europe at least.
